Kane's Wrath wasn't meaningless. The main point was ultimately about getting the Tacitus to LEGION so that it could be stabilized. The stable Tacitus was the key to creating the Tiberium Control Network.
That said, the Scrin were indeed a wasted plot element.

Disgusted, but not surprisedA free-for-all skirmish in Kane's Wrath, where I play as vanilla GDI.
In the Kane dossier
that EA published on its website mere months before Tiberium Wars was released, there's a part where the in-universe writer of the document delves into Nod's mythic beliefs about they purport to be the real story behind Adam and Eve, and by proxy Kane's ancient history, with pretty much all of the juicy details being entirely composed of large blocks of censored text. Other, similarly censored parts of the text also allude to what is strongly implied to be important elements of Kane's mythical/historical backstory, connection to Tiberium, and what is almost certainly is the Tacitus.
What are your pet theories about what the censored portions hide?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
EALA posted up a lot of teaser content that sometimes didn't exactly jive with the canon (including a brief skit where Kane briefly kidnapped EA Apoc, the community manager who was ultimately rescued by another persona of his, EA Predator, or just how fuzzy the exact timefarme is for C&C Renegade), but this memo does ultimately line up with Kane's background as per the Tiberium Bible so I guess it's legit.
EDIT: After giving it a second look... the memo seems to favor more Kane being an actual religious figure, but all of the redactions make it impossible to discern any details, save for one. It mentioned Kane was active from 1995 to 2019. Keep in mind, the file was written before the 2nd Tiberium War. Which, much as I loathe it, gives more credit to the theory C&C Renegade (and by extension Tib Dawn) taking place in the 2010s.

Oh, you mean the Command & Conquer Bible
that was made from what appears to be prototypical material for Tiberian Sun?
BTW, anyone here that's familiar with The Second Tiberium War mod? I'm surprised that while its page has plenty of tropes about the gameplay, it's very lacking in entries pertaining to the storyline. I've been actually resorting to opening up videos from a playthrough and largely skipping through the missions to any part that seems to have dialogue in it, indicated by lines of yellow text in the top left (the mod makes heavy use of in-mission dialogue to progress the plot, and even has some "missions" that are essentially cinematic cutscenes using the game engine rather than FMVs), in order to quickly figure out what the story is about. So far, the greatest point of interest is that the GDI "hero" of the story (who is not you, the player; you are helping him along) has been studying ruins and temples that indicate not only were they built by an ancient civilization, but Tiberium had arrived on Earth far earlier than everyone had thought (except perhaps Kane; wouldn't surprise me if he knew that already), which is decisively proven in one mission set deep within one such temple, as we see large fields of Tiberium in several areas.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I only played Twisted insurrection, and Tib Sun Warzone. And while I've seen The Second Tiberian War on Moddb, I've never tried it out since it strangely doesn't have much of a presence on Youtube, (where it's easy to find fans playing a wide variety of C&C mods) nor does the C&C community in general ever discuss it.
Might have to give it a try one day, would be cool to see how a navy in Tib Sun would work out...

Not really. The temples and ruins were far away from Italy, where the 1995 meteorite impact that introduced the current Tiberium infestation to Earth is located. Like, the first site we see and the one where we get the exposition about Tiberium's pre-existence is in Siberia, and the next one is in some coastal desert area somewhere that's never clearly specified, though given that the next mission after the one inside the temple is on the other side of it and has a underground railroad that connects all the way to Norway, I assume that it's on the shores of the Caspian Seanote (logically the western side, given that the map has the sea area dominate the eastern side). Oh, and if you're wondering how could there be ancient pryamids in that area given the total absence of such structures IRL, the location is explicitly described as a "dig site", implying that the structures were buried underground for millennia (similar to how some of Egypt's own numerous pyramids are/were buried beneath the sands for many centuries).

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus....okay, but tiberium is famously infectious. If it had been on Earth since before the modern era, why didn't it xenoform the ecosystem long ago?
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOIt's kinda implied that there's something strange going with the temple, especially given that it housed the freaking Tacitus. The ancient civilization that built it might have been technologically advanced precursors whose tech is not only apocalypse-proofed (makes you wonder how they perished to begin with) but is subtle enough to be undiscernable from all the seemingly primitive stone construction of the structure, and the tech within the temple (maybe even the structure's own material) is capable of containing the Tiberium within its bounds and suppressing its growth.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I guess the problem is considering how long Kane has been on the planet, you'd think he'd have recovered and taken advantage of any existing deposits for his plan, instead of having to wait for a fresh bombardment.
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NOBasically, Kane needed three things for his true goal of getting the hell away from Earth.
- A shitload of Tiberium.
- The Tacitus since it had the info needed to exploit the Tiberium.
- Civilization with the tech level needed to make use of said info.
If all three things were present on Earth that long ago, Kane would have enacted his plans much earlier.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIf simply leaving Earth was Kane’s main goal, that sounds like some very shitty writing.
Given this goal was from Tiberian Twilight which had very poor writing….
Otherwise he could’ve avoided everything (or gotten much more powerful) by simply spilling the beans and just asking for help.
But none of the writing save maybe the Mind Screw of the Tiberian Sun ending of the Nod campaign made anything close to such mentions. Even “ascension” was very nebulous but mostly sounded like Kane was planning on building humans up through Tiberium and then unleashing them as interstellar conquerors in his thrall.
"Ascension" only came into the lore in Tiberium Wars, replacing Tiberian Sun's Divination (Tiberium-based elevation of human to a transhuman state) as the ultimate goal of Kane's plans.
BTW, I finished blitzing through The Second Tiberium War's playthrough that I found. Unfortunately, we don't get any further explanation on what secrets these ancient ruins hold, despite one of the very last missions revolving around GDI protecting the last of the six temples (all the others have fallen under Nod control by that point). The weirdest part is when Kane somehow managed to convince the UN leaders to cease supporting GDI and back Nod instead, with only a vague statement to the player that he's going to tell them how Vega (the non-protagonist GDI hero) and his agenda is a threat to them all. Talk about a Diabolus ex Machina.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Act 3 for Mental Omega has been announced!
Given how Mentalmeister previously stated Act 2 and it's 3.3.6 update was the finale, I'm surprised we're actually getting new content. Still gonna be a LOOOOONG time before we see anything concrete, let alone a final release, because due to it's very nature of being a mod that largely relies upon volunteer labor means progress will be painfully slow.
Where did he say that?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.

Worse it just goes “Welp, Tiberium has evolved yet again!” and then magically has everything undone with the maps looking like <insert generic RTS/RTT title here>.
I would’ve expected things to look like a post apocalyptic hellhole like the Red Zone levels in TW.
And no Scrin? Not even their wreckages?
The story is flat out offensively bad. Bad setup (means Kane’s Wrath story was utterly irrelevant), bad execution, bad follow through, just utterly bad.
