Inspired by this thread, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

Are any of the quotes on Quotes.Disney Toon Studios good? They all seem to be negative
Quotes 1, 2, and 6 are definitely pull-worthy. Quote 3 I am not sure about.

the following entry on Funny. The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild rubs me the wrong way:
- In fact, getting the Gerudo clothes to sneak into town is hilarious in itself. For starters, the "Vai" is clearly actually a voe, but Link goes along with it for the sake of the mission. When Link is given the rather revealing outfit, he at first looks embarrassed, but after the "Vai" gives him a few compliments, he looks bashful but pleased... And then the wind blows off the "Vai"'s mask, revealing their true face, resulting in a Face Palm from Link.
note that Vai translates as woman and Voe translates as man.
this entry comes off as extremely transphobic to me. the person in question expresses exclusively as female and is never seen expressing any masculine traits. it's noted on the YMMV page that the whole sequence is controversial because of its questionable portrayal of a possibly trans individual. people can find whatever they want funny, of course; it's not like you can choose what you laugh at. but the way this is worded implies that because the person wasn't assigned female at birth, they aren't female. this strikes me as a very mean-spirited jab at non-passing trans people, and i know the wiki is better than that.
am i being oversensitive? sometimes that happens, especially with trans issues. but it genuinely does strike me as hurtful.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!Dunno if this is the right place for this, but I found these on YMMV.Batman And Captain America, regarding a certain Snark Bait from Captain America: Steve Rogers:
- Harsher in Hindsight: The Joker ranting about the Red Skull actually being a Nazi, after Captain America: Steve Rogers and Secret Empire, where the Skull caused a Cosmic Retcon to turn Captain America into everything he's fought against, meaning until the real Cap was bought back, the character believed to be Marvel's paragon had fewer morals than the man who crippled Barbara Gordon, tried to drive Commissioner Gordon insane, and killed Jason Todd, Lois Lane, and Sarah Essen.
- Memetic Mutation: After the release of the first issue of Captain America: Steve Rogers, it was popular to point to the Joker ranting in disgust upon discovering the Red Skull was really a Nazi (and not just using Nazism as a gimmick, like he initially assumed) and saying Captain America, of all people, was now less moral than the Joker.
Well the first could maybe be toned down if it's kept but the second is accurate.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The first one strikes me as yet another misuse of the 'hindsight' tropes. I'd lose it regardless of complaining issues.

YMMV.The Night Gwen Stacy Died has a lot of Gwen-bashing, story-bashing, and writer-bashing that are also Walls of Text. While the story is controversial and probably always will be, entries like
"* Fan-Disliked Explanation: The idea that Peter caused Gwen's death by himself which was floated by later editors and columns, and which outright contradicts the dialogue (Norman saying that the fall killed her from that height) and is liked by some fans for its daring Reality Ensues is not one popular among others. They point out that this effectively makes Gwen's death not as a result of actual tragic decisions and circumstances (Goblin knowing Spider-Man's identity, Peter sparing him and giving him a second chance, Gwen not knowing about the double life and the danger she was in) that led up to it, but an accident of incompetence on Peter's part. It outright contradicts a number of moments in earlier comics where superhero physics were played straight, and it also means that the righteous fury and anger Peter falls into in Issue 122 is not merited. Conway himself says that the "snap" sound-effect is meant for readers only and that on a narrative level Goblin did kill her and there was no way Spider-Man could ever have saved her by doing anything different. "
come off as way too long and niche; of the many discussions I've seen surrounding the story the 'snap' being heavily disliked has never come up and seems more like one or a few people's opinions instead of the general audience.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Removed this bit from Saeko Shimazu:
", which brought the latter lots of insults coming from the Fan Dumb. Huh."
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI removed this example under Moral Event Horizon that Keshali added to YMMV.Steven Universe:
- In the movie its revealed Pink Diamond left Spinel all alone in their garden for 6,000 years, prompting the latter's spin into grief and anger, seemingly because she didn't want to deal with her anymore.
I'm sure it doesn't qualify since it happened chronologically before Pink Diamond's Character Development (to say it in the least spoileriffic way possible). Keep an eye out for Pink Diamond hate; fans are very pissed at her after that revelation in the movie.
Keet cleanupIt's also on YMMV.Steven Universe The Movie, so removing from there as well.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢The Nice Girl entry was removed from Pink Diamond's character page and this was added to her Nicetothe Waiter entry: Subverted with Spinel, whom she initially acted very kind towards, but became annoyed with her and proved to be callous enough to abandon her forever.
I removed the latter as I felt that it was too argumentative and speculative. Should Nice Girl be readded?
I think the creator went a bit too far in trying to Portrayed this person as a flawed individual.
Never the less, i believe Nice Guy should be put back.
I have a concern about this entry in Series.Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger:
- Family-Unfriendly Death: Great Satan's head blows up rather graphically after he's been hit with the Grand Banisher. Also, Kai is blown up while still inside the Dora Talos and even visibly catches on fire. What the heck, Toei?! This series was supposed to be Lighter and Softer than Choujin Sentai Jetman, which had plenty of adult themes. Now try considering their idea of Lighter and Softer in light of this. In some ways that can be chalked up to Values Dissonance as Zyuranger had just as many dark elements as previous Sentai (such as Dora Franke's various transformations) but the overall tone was more light and comedic, for example, Bandora as ruthless as she was, was also a Large Ham who had petty schemes such as interrupting a family dinner with Dora Circe because she was on a crash diet (and how she was too hungry to bother with enlarging Dora Circe).
Should we remove the "What the heck, Toei?!" part from it?
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.remove everything from "What the heck" onward. that's pure cruft and natter that doesn't serve to expand on the example. it goes off on a tangent.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!Will do.
He/His/Him. No matter who you are, always Be Yourself.Super Mario Logan was brought up a while ago, but for some reason, nothing ever came of it.
It was deemed that most of the “examples” were just “fans hate this episode”, so is it safe to cutlist?
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”If we can't salvage it, might as well.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportMore for Characters.Steven Universe Pink Diamond. Dayandnight has posted the entries I mentioned before and added:
- Laser-Guided Karma: She abandoned Spinel and unintentionally made her stay in the exact same place for 6,000 years, and ends up losing nearly all of her friends via the Corruption Light.
- Despite Spinel offering her comfort, love, loyalty, and respect, as well as making sure she is happy in spite of the sadness she often had on Homeworld, Pink repaid Spinel by abandoning her as soon as she received a colony by Yellow and Blue and tricking her in a way that resulted in Spinel standing still for 6,000 years.
Edited by LadyErinNY on Sep 6th 2019 at 9:19:07 AM
That first one lacks the "direct consequence" aspect of Laser-Guided Karma, doing something bad and having something bad happen to you later isn't what the trope is about. The second one is subject to Alternate Character Interpretation and may not apply depending on which version of the events you subscribe to.
I probably should use ask the tropers for this but considering the topic I thought it would be more suitable to ask this here. The reason I actually named the troper who made the entry is because they have made a lot of negative and incorrect entries about Pink Diamond over the past couple of days. I'm just wondering if there is a point where I should report them to the mods. They aren't hostile and they only added an entry back once but they keep writing entries for the sole purpose of bashing Pink Diamond and I'm not sure what exactly I should do.
Edited by LadyErinNY on Sep 6th 2019 at 10:52:31 AM
If all they do is bash Pink Diamond, you should report them.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢I apologize, I worded that poorly. Their Pink Diamond entries have only been about bashing her. As far as I can tell their other entries are legitimate.
Edited by LadyErinNY on Sep 6th 2019 at 10:52:04 AM
Hmm, then maybe just some complaining notifiers would work?
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Reporting them might be a good idea if the Pink Diamond thing is turning out to be a Single-Issue Wonk for them.
Yeah, not an example. Inception's ending did not generate any notable backlash.
