Inspired by this thread
, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

There's three quotes on Quotes.Cats and they're all complain-y or mocking.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI'd say the first one isn't too much of an issue, really just Fridge Logic.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)It's not Fridge Logic, it's being overly pedantic and refusing to accept the Willing Suspension of Disbelief. It's not some logic question the play leaves you with after you watch it, it's nitpicking how the production works.
Plus I always get skeeved out when a "work quote page" has no quotes from the actual work

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallWell the third quote at least can probably go for just being complaining (and a stealth needless reviewer reference.)
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallFair points there...

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Similar to the Unleashed case awhile back. the same user, Vittorio Fedele, had added this to the 8.8 entry on YMMV.Sonic Lost World roughly around the same time.
- obstacle, and the reviewer spends more time on going on about Sonic not going fast and the parkour mechanic than the more serious problems, like the poor and shoehorned motion controls and the weird experimentation with the gimmicky mechanics in the stages. Alongside a few other reviewers, it also accused the game off copying Super Mario Galaxy due to the similiar level design and approach. IGN, although with a different reviewer, also gave the 3DS version a 6.8, and this was generally considered the worst version by the public due to stages that drag on for too long and have terrible design choices past the first two worlds, annoying puzzles like shoving snowballs for long periods of time in Frozen Factory Act 3 and finnicky motion controls.
Once again, this feels like unnecessary complaining. With the user attacking the critic for playing the game wrong and then going on an unnecessary rant on the 3DS version (which has little to do with the entry).

This thread is for removing complaining, not adding it.
Some time ago, Troubled Production for RWBY was cleaned-up by this thread. However, some of the removed entries have been added back to the TroubledProduction.Rooster Teeth using the edit reason "restoring the least complaining parts of the deleted sections (along with a slight mention of the crunch time - we start the page mentioning the RVB crew overworked, it's still relevant)".
I can't find any sign they've discussed adding the entries back, so I'm pinging ~igordebraga to contribute. Their rewrites are very good at solving the original complaining issue, so I think are worth keeping from that perspective. However, I think two of the entries shouldn't be assigned to Troubled Production because they're company-wide issues that affects everything they do. For example, crunch-time is a bane of the entire industry, many workplaces have a crunch-time culture and there's increasing momentum to try and clean the industry of this. So, the fact that RT is affected isn't a surprise. There are, however, some company-specific flavours worth capturing, but Troubled Production seems like the wrong place for it. However, I can't find anything more suitable in the Trivia list.
So, this post is just to validate the return of these entries, and double-check whether two of the entries are in the correct location. It may be that the best option is to create an "In General" section on the page, and list it as Troubled Production (most of the company's works are being affected by the workplace culture).
- RWBY:
- Volumes 1 and 2 had constraints of time and money that overworked everyone - writers Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross reported having to frequently sleep in the studio - and the animations were not rendered due to how long that process can take, and so all was made on playblasts, which could be made faster but meant all lighting and shadows had to be baked into the scenes by hand. This is a far better entry than the original, but it's talking about a workplace culture problem, not a show-specific one. RT is on record as having admitted that this was the workplace culture from the company's formation. It wasn't any one individual show, the entire culture so normalised unhealthy work practices and the industry-wide crunch-time issue that people promoted to manager kept that culture going for newcomers. It sounds like a valid trivia item, but for a designation other than Troubled Production (it's more "Troubled Workplace Culture"). Does anyone know where to put this?
- Volume 4 started off with the crew having to adjust to a new pipeline, and this is reflected in how 4 episodes had their releases delayed by a week to be properly finished, with the mini-episodes of World of Remnant airing instead. This is a much better entry than the one that was originally removed, and is worth keeping.
- Volume 6 went mostly better, with a new co-director (editor Connor Pickens) and all the scripts written ahead of production. But simultaneous production with gen:LOCK, which shared some crew members and was scheduled to start the same day RWBY ended, led to unhealthy quantities of crunch time, with one source on the employer review site Glassdoor estimating that almost a third of Volume 6 was effectively made for free due to not paying the staff for overtime. While this has removed the complaining from the original entry, this is the workplace culture issue again being given a show-specific entry when it's a company-wide issue. The Glassdoor reviews made it clear that the issues were (and still are) systemic throughout the company, and overtime with no pay is the norm and therefore affects everything they do, not just one show. So, this is part of the above "Troubled Workplace Culture" entry for RT as a whole. It did all come to a head in 2019, but that was because it was gen:LOCK that broke the camel's back, and forced the company to publicly address complaints about its workplace culture (which still exist). I don't know the best trivia item to use for this.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.![]()
I think Troubled Production is experiencing some decay, because instead of truly disastrous productions, a lot of the examples (like above) are mentioning things that are, at best, tangential to the works at hand. A company with a horrible work culture? That's the norm for a lot of animation studios, video game developers, film studios, networks, streaming services, etc (seriously, every entertainment has a horrible culture that society is only starting to reckon with).
tl;dr: I would cut, or fashion into a miscellaneous trivia item.

I didn't choose the troping life, the troping life chose meHeads up. I just had to remove a Contested Sequel entry from YMMV.Kamen Rider Revice for being too soon. This is the third time I had to remove an example for being too soon to add, and most of the examples I removed were complaining, so I would recommend keeping an eye out for it.
Eh, good enough.![]()
Interesting, that decay might be worth discussing in a Trope Talk thread.
- Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood has quite stiff animation with unnatural-looking movements. The only angle it uses is a medium shot, which is done in Real Time. You could say that the works of Filmation are more fluid than this show, which came out in 2012. The animation became even more stiff with the movie Daniel Visits a New Neighborhood, which lacks the 'bounciness' that the previous seasons and specials had.

As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.
I think you can cut the entry for just being complaining.

I'll take the blame for it since I'm the one who actually originally added the example for RWBY, so I'm sorry that it came off as complaining or what not.
I should stress though that I wasn’t intending on stealth complaining or what not. In fact, I actually cut the example not too long after posting it, because I felt it came off as unintentionally complainy or what not.
Well that and i felt it was probably misuse since RWBY is arguably bit too divisive and love it or hate it for it to fall into So Okay, It's Average territory, because now that I think about it, there aren't many who see RWBY as being okay. Most either seem to love it or despise it. On top of me having no real skin in it since I have admittedly never watched RWBY.
Anyways, I would just have it remain cut.
