Inspired by this thread
, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

IDK; I mean, even Encanto had a 15 year old protagonist. Around the time EQG came out, these type of shows were all the rage.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall![]()

![]()
According to Wikipedia, they were aiming at teenagers though: "The human-based toys were developed to appeal to girls in their teens as a means to extend the My Little Pony brand."
So the subfranchise was aimed at teenagers and the writing has high school trappings which only teenagers would relate to, but the actual writing is still in its parent show's grade schooler mentality and has weak plotting that can only be dismissed as "It's a kid's show, kids won't care about that."

I noticed the Flanderisation trope was misused in regard to Arcane by Troper Riley Gronlund Super Mario. I removed their edits from both the YMMV page of Arcane, as well as the Flanderisation page for Western Animation in general, but I felt like I should bring up what happened here, in case they've done something similar before or will try something similar again.
Here are their edits (which have now been removed).
Arcane
Flanderisation: Powder started off as a nice girl but after episode 3, her character started to get worse and she lost those nice personality traits. Thanks, Vi.
Western Animation
Arcane: Thanks to Vi's "The Reason You Suck" Speech, Nice Girl Powder undergoes Character Derailment starting from the third episode as she becomes the Cute and Psycho Mad Bomber Jinx]].
Both of these entries came across as the troper missing the entire point of Powder/Jinx's character arc, as well as just wanting to bash Vi's character
They also made an additional entry on Jinx's Character Page.
- Flanderisation: Both ends. She started off as a nice character but then Vi just HAD to lash out at her for Explosive Stupidity. Then, as Jinx, Powder started to do sometimes do this to Vi, flanderising the latter as a Big Sister Bully.

HoMM Fan
Can you even have Flanderization over the course of a single season of a show that was written deliberately like that? As you said, this just seems like an attempt to bash Vi.
"Grandmaster Combat, son!"So, I get that Super Friends is So Bad, It's Good and has many flaws, but does this example on Forgot About His Powers come off as overly snarky to anyone else?
- And if you think the above examples are bad, you should watch the old Superfriends some time.
- "Gee, Jayna, here we are trapped under the foot of a giant space monster, touching each other. If only we had, I don't know, some kind of superpower that would allow you to turn into a small animal and me into something which could flow through the claws, we could escape!"
- Seanbaby, as you can assume, mocked this liberally.
"Don't be too quick to judge Superman's alzheimers problems, though. You probably forget about your powers sometimes too. You can't fly, but you have the ability to learn to waterski, bake, watch baseball, and put objects in your ass. If Lex Luthor came at you with a mind deconfribrulator, you'd be so scared you'd totally forget to learn to waterski. Also, you probably wouldn't jam anything into your ass. See? You forgot about at least TWO super powers, smartass."
- Aquaman, frustratingly, tended to combine this with This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman. Very often in the series, Aquaman would be taking part in the obligatory underwater part of the villain's plan, and then he would be attacked by a sea monster. He would proceed to spend a frustratingly long time either dodging it or getting caught in its grasp, before he finally remembers "Oh, right, I can communicate with sea life" and that he can just tell the monster to go away. Frequently, he wouldn't even do that, and would instead summon more sea creatures to fight it.
- Aquaman and Wonder Woman constantly forget they have super strength. They often get grabbed by mooks and/or imprisoned and don't even try to break free. Yet in some episodes, Wonder Woman can bust down walls, hold up a building, and in "Will the World Collide", she threw an object into space. In some episodes, Aquaman can lift a bulldozer and even lift a beached ship to throw it back into the water.
Not really? I mean some examples need more context but it looks mostly mild to me.
Guys how cool would it be if Super Megaforce had a green ranger...Umm... so this was added to the YMMV.My Hero Academia page a few days ago.
- Ship-to-Ship Combat: Straight ships vs yaoi ships. Period. Especially nasty are the supporters of Deku/Bakugo, who have gone absolutely ballistic at anyone who supports Deku/Ochako. Not even Horikoshi himself is safe - death threats (YES, ACTUAL DEATH THREATS.) have been lobbed at him. It's become an unwritten rule to never interract with the shippers in the fandom.
This doesn't appear to be written very neutrally. Plus I'm not sure if this trope can apply to entire categories of ships.
I’m gonna put some Gloom in your eye.^ kill it with fire. Edit: If someone can write something more neutral about the specific ships mentioned there, it might be a valid example, especially if things like the author getting sent death threats and the shipping-centric part of the fandom having a bad reputation are true

The MHA shipping fandom, especially its slash shippers, do deserve their reputation for being a toxic cesspit of abuse and harassment, but there are far better ways of communicating that. Though I'm pretty unfamiliar with MHA outside of knowing some of the characters' names, it's bad enough that even an outsider like me is familiar with some of the drama leaking out, so hopefully some of that might help.
Anecdotally, Deku slash shippers (of which Bakugo/Deku aka "Bakudeku" is the Fan-Preferred Couple) can be very nasty towards Ochako/Deku aka "Ochadeku" fans while disguising it in social justice lingo, such as accusing any kind of Ochako shipping of being pedophilic despite shipping characters of the same age but male, or calling it a homophobic ship because Het Is Ew. Conversely Ochadeku (and anti-Bakudeku shippers in general, such as Kiribaku) claim that because Bakudeku is shipping an admittedly rather cruel bully with his victim, that any fan who enjoys it is an abuse apologist and deserves to be doxxed and threatened in real life.
I'm not as familiar with the mangaka getting death threats but honestly it doesn't surprise me. Shipping-as-activism/morality-in-shipping is very Serious Business over there.

Actually, I just realized there is already a tree on the page talking about individual cases of Ship-to-Ship Combat, including Baku Deku vs Ocha Deku. This user made an entirely separate bullet point to gush about it.

I’m gonna put some Gloom in your eye.Gushing? This is way more complainy to me.
Guys how cool would it be if Super Megaforce had a green ranger...Would the entry that's on the Anime & Manga subpage for Ship-to-Ship Combat for My Hero Academia work to replace the entry on the work's YMMV page? Thanks.
This entry on AndTheFandomRejoiced.Cartoon Network seems complainy:
- Ever since Stuart Snyder was put in charge, CN has been going downhill. The network would be better off without him... HE'S FINALLY RESIGNING?!
Um, yeah. I'd say that's worth cutting. If for no other reason than the way it's written. Would that even be allowed if it was written more neutrally?
Also the person who wrote that MHA entry has actually wrote a similar one in the past that was cut per ROCEJ thread, as seen here
. Should I report this to Ask The Tropers?

I’m gonna put some Gloom in your eye.
Berserk Button: misusing Nightmare Fuel
Thanks for reminding me of that example, I'd say that adding the same trope twice, and having it removed both times for the same reason, feels quite wonky, not to mention potentially counting as an Edit War (since Biomaster 2000 did not discuss the example before re-adding the same thing).
^^ And The Fandom Rejoiced seems to attract a lot of examples written that way, even though most of them aren't that complain-y

Isn't it Sugar Wiki and thus the informal tone is allowed? Maybe we should consider banning "yay the show got cancelled" examples though as they're negative on a page meant to be overly positive.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

True, but it seems to be increasingly unpopular, with shows aimed at children generally featuring preteens, or maybe young teens.
