Inspired by this thread
, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

"You already know the scene." What scene? That phrase is useless to those like me who haven't seen it.
Yeah, I'm commenting Artistic License – Physics out and axing everything crufty and complainy there.
Edit: Also sent a notifier and commented out slashed tropes.

Talk about Zero Context Examples. We don't know "that scene". I feel like this troper who made it is too lazy to explain it.

"Now it's starting to feel like a game!"Not necessarily, people have a tendency to assume that everyone reading a work page knows that work by heart. It's basically Fan Myopia in action.
Hope shines brightest in the darkest timesFound this example in the Politics section in Real Life in Hoist by His Own Petard:
- The 2021 California gubernatorial recall election to replace governor Gavin Newsom failed thanks in no part to Larry Elder. Republicans were hopeful that they could recall Newsom following the public backlash to him breaking COVID rules, and the historical precedent of Republicans winning off-year elections due to low Democratic voter turnout. However, any chances of recalling Newsom disappeared when the conservative radio host Larry Elder became the frontrunner replacement candidate in August 2021. Elder's opposition to COVID safety measures and abortion proved rather unpopular following Florida governor Ron DeSantis' failure to protect his constituents, and Texas governor Greg Abbot's very controversial abortion ban. It also didn't help that Elder's campaign peddled baseless allegations of voter fraud, like when his website accidentally revealed a page where people could post about fraud before the election even happened. Along with inflammatory statements and accusations of domestic abuse, Elder's controversies overshadowed Newsom's shortcomings, drove away moderate voters, and angered liberal voters enough to turn them out. When the votes were tallied, "No" won with a tally of roughly 63.4 percent. Also of note was that two of the counties who voted "No" were the traditionally Republican strongholds of Ventura and Orange County.
Most of this is simply bashing a candidate people don't like (though to be fair, Elder's controversies did not help him one bit) and I don't see anything that fits this trope (most of what is described is Values Dissonance between states, perhaps)? Delete?
(Edit: It's gone now. Also deleted another potential ROCEJ example that didn't fit the trope, either.)

that's not just complaining, that's in violation of Rule of Cautious Editing Judgement.
Found this entry under Franchise Zombie:
- Despite what the more devoted fans say, being a Long Runner, South Park isn't immune to this. According to a 2011 article in Reel Fanatics
, newer seasons are Denser and Wackier than the earlier seasons, which are more based on Vulgar Humor with no shortages of controversial shock value. The newer seasons, though retaining some of the show's trademark shock value, also undergo a Cerebus Rollercoaster and rely more heavily on recent Ripped from the Headlines political satire and trends in popular culture to remain relevant in the 2010s and 2020s, as well as creating multiple-part episodes to stretch out jokes and having repeated jokes from earlier seasons many times. Reel Fanatics also mentioned that some newer episodes based on pop culture, many of which are by nature narrow parodies, are also shallow parodies at best. Even the creators of the show stated that they wanted to end the series on the 20th season (i.e. in 2016-17), but many new episodes have been made since then, many of which are considered inferior to the earlier seasons to the fanbase in comparison. It doesn't help that the later seasons are marked by the creators' staunchly libertarian Filibuster Freefall as they went from being edgy rebels from the MTV Generation into grumpy but still edgy curmudgeons who complain about millennial and Gen Z politics and pop culture. That said, as of July 2021 the show hasn't aired or announced any new content since the Spring 2021 vaccination special (even though this article
from September 2019 stated the show was locked in for at least 26 seasons), leaving the series' fate up in the air.
This feels a bit too complainy to me. It could just be me though.

This is literally the only part of that entry that makes any claim to it actually being a franchise zombie. The rest is either just complaining about Seasonal Rot or describing audiences souring on the show in general.
I don't like or care about South Park so I don't know if the example in general is valid, but the current writeup absolutely is not.
Not to mention that it's a huge Wall of Text. Yikes.
That last part is also hilariously outdated given the announcement of 14 movies for the franchise, which was a bit contentious. I'm pretty sure the writers weren't publicly upset about it either.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. It was brought up a few days ago, but I have made an edit on the Pretty fly for a white guy page, in regards to Iggy Azaela. I stripped a lot of the obvious negativity, and kept it more focused on the facts. Yes it's something she has been criticized for, but the page shouldn't be a platform for further criticism.
Incidentally I cut the Beastie Boys entry on the same page, which was wildly off-base.
Decided to check on Memes.Genshin Impact... and the complainy memes are a bit more complainy. Mind a lock?
Eh, good enough.Maybe this is just me, but this entry in YMMV.A Fairly Odd Summer, while legitimate, seems too complainy to me:
- Esoteric Happy Ending: Yaaay, Timmy's alive! And he's also a fairy, meaning that he's ageless and immortal, unlike his very much mortal girlfriend! There's absolutely NO way this could backfire on him!
YMMV.Sponge Bob Squarepants S 6 E 1 House Fancy Krabby Road has an entire section on the toenail scene. While some of it may be kosher, other parts I'm unsure. Either way, it doesn't deserve an entire section on the page to itself.
She/her. Profile pic is by Richard Michael Gomez @StarmansArt. Please watch Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock. https://youtu.be/Vm92JNgPbqk
The closest I've seen to another YMMV page doing that sort of thing was Pokémon: Genesect and the Legend Awakened regarding that film's depiction of Mewtwo. And even that I'm unsure if we should split reactions up like that.
What should be done about this example from Rugrats?
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Due to him never facing consequences for his actions, failing to learn his lesson from the movie, and being instantly forgiven even when he hurts Tommy physically, when Dil becomes upset it is seen less as a sad moment and more of him finally getting punished.
On the one hand I do understand that Dil has acted pretty bratty during the show, especially when he was first added. On the other hand, as Didi in the movie once said, "He's a baby!" Basically, he seems to be too young to really even know what he's doing is wrong. Plus, I think the example is too general for when he's supposed to be sad, as there are plenty of moments where Dil gets upset in the show. Should it be rewritten or cut?

I agree with you, let's remerge the entries on both pages. As for the toenail-related entries themselves, I personally think Bile Fascination should go, but the rest should stay.
Also, this entry in Fridge.A Bugs Life kinda seems like a Fridge Horror entry being used to complain about an aspect of the movie:
- When Flik first suggests his plan to leave the island to find warrior bugs to fight the grasshoppers, all of the other ants make it clear that they think it would be a suicide mission - any ant trying to leave would either fall to their deaths from the cliff, die of exposure on the dry riverbed, or be eaten by birds or other predators. Even so, they have no problem letting Flik leave so he can't bother them anymore, even cheering his departure. Apart from Dot and Atta, they all fully expect him to die, and are HAPPY about it.
I just deleted the Unintentionally Unsympathetic from Rugrats but now I found another example from Unintentionally Sympathetic:
- Angelica, amazingly, comes this many times when her demands (such as simply wanting to enjoy a TV show) are completely reasonable but the adults with their lousy parenting allowing the babies to bug and harass her
- Due to him being The Scrappy many of Angelica's complaints about Dil, which are supposed to be viewed in the same vein as her complaints about Tommy and Co, come off as Angelica saying what the audience is actually thinking.
- Angelica, amazingly, comes this many times when her demands (such as simply wanting to enjoy a TV show) are completely reasonable but the adults with their lousy parenting allowing the babies to bug and harass her
The Dil example can definitely go, but I have seen fans say that Angelica would sometimes get undeserved punishments, such as trying to be quiet so she can get new toys only for the babies to continually try and help find/fix her voice (it was a while since I last saw the episode) causing her to scream at them and not get anything. Still it could be rewritten so it wouldn't bash the adults and their parenting skills.
