Inspired by this thread
, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

Should The Mysterious Mr. Enter's pages be locked like Lily Orchard's? I don't know if he's quite as controversial to the same extent as her, but still...
Something similar occurred recently with one of her webcomics, leading to that page being locked. I don't think Enter's pages attract edit warring — in fact, his pages (DMOS notwithstanding) are relatively tame.
Dragonball Evolution has quite a bit of snark on its pages, and had been added to the complaining sandbox.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Frigid Winds and Burning Hearts has a YMMV that's pretty much entirely complaining, with some snark in Main.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!Found this entry on the main Seasonal Rot page, which noticeably uses two Flame Bait tropes:
- For Better or for Worse: sometime around the year 2000, the Pattersons stopped being normal people living in a complicated world and became a family of Mary Sues, with the exception of April, who became the Butt-Monkey. On top of the flattened, less realistic characterizations, many of its later arcs were critically ravaged by readers (especially everything revolving around Elizabeth's relationship with and eventual marriage to Anthony), which when combined turned what was once a highly-respected comic strip lauded for not being afraid to push the envelope into complete Snark Bait by the end of its original run (and the start of its Continuity Reboot shortly afterward).
YMMV.For Better Or For Worse has:
- Seasonal Rot: The later years of the strip are mostly regarded as lower in quality. At one point, this was the most-popular strip in North America, and has several famously-touching strips and story arcs, such as the protracted death of Elly's mother, Lawrence's coming-out story, Grandpa Jim's problems, and more. And the earlier strips were seen as an "I feel your pain" call from Lynn to scores of unfortunate, put-upon housewives. It probably had 90% good years to bad ones. And yet, the strip's online reputation is largely-based around complaining about the last couple of years.
That's on the opposite end of the spectrum — it spends so much time gushing that it doesn't explain why the newer strips are regarded as bad. The entry on the trope page would be easier to rework.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
Yes indeed. Honestly, our best bet is re-writing the one I posted to be less bash-y.
Is it alright if I put all the MLP fanfics mentioned in the complaining sandbox in subbullets under My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic?

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!I found this on the YMMV page for Nicholas Sparks:
- Cliché Storm: Sparks insists that the reason his works should be described as "love stories" instead of "romances" is because audiences know exactly what to expect from romances, while love stories subvert expectations. What he doesn't seem to realize is that his creator thumbprints are so numerous and heavy-handed that audiences are rarely surprised by how his stories turn out. He may combine these thumbprints in a slightly different way each time, but all of them are familiar. A Nicholas Sparks book may not be a storm of romance-genre clichés, but it's certainly a storm of Nicholas Sparks clichés—as multiple critics have noted.
This doesn't really talk about the cliches and instead seems mostly about how Sparks's works are predictable.
Lately I've been wondering why Cliché Storm isn't Flame Bait, tbh.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall
It was discussed some pages back. Concern was brought up that it was redundant with Troperiffic. It's already on Tropes Needing TRS per me.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining
(Also, I removed Big Mouth from the page per this earlier comment.

Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI'll add Cliché Storm to the "Tropes needing Wick Checks list".
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper Wall![]()
...Hasn't "Cliché Storm and Troperiffic are Done Well and Done Badly versions of the same thing" been a complaint for years? That seems like a gigantic misstep on the part of the thread.
Edited by nrjxll on Jun 24th 2021 at 9:48:24 AM
My understanding is Troperiffic is when a work is aware of the fact it uses a lot of cliches, whereas a Cliché Storm doesn't. I'm sure to some people will see this as "one is bad and the other isn't", but that's not necessarily the case.
The whole Nicholas Sparks page seems to have issues. Most of the entries there discuss general audience reactions to Nicholas Sparks. That's not the purpose of creator YMMV pages. They're for audience reactions to works that don't have a work page. Also, I had to remove an entry for creator bashing.
Hey I was wondering if this thread could give some opinions on this ATT thread
I made as it does concern a cut decision that was made here?
Thoughts on the massive Wall of Text that is the Padding entry on YMMV.Final Fantasy VII Remake? A lot of it seems to just be complaining about things done 'just to burn time' or it's used to sneer at design choices that cause a handful of screens in the original FFVII taking maybe 15 minutes to complete being expanded out to 1 hour. I'm guessing most of it could be removed and some of the egregious examples (eg. Wall Market section) could be edited a bit to cut down the complaining.
ignore this

Virtually none of that is actually padding.
FFVIIR is an Adaptation Expansion, it was never going to be a 1:1 recreation of the original. We knew this years before it was released.
I'll trim it down later. There's a lot to go through.

(Also semi-fun fact, Black Knight is my brother's favorite Sonic game.)
Came for the tropes, stayed for the cleanup.
