How painful are we talking here? Can you walk on it?
Yeah, I agree that if it keeps hurting you might want to see a doctor. But for now, why not just go to a pharmacy and get an ice pack and, perhaps, some over-the-counter topical anti-inflammatory?

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.Any swelling, redness, stiffness / grinding / "locking" sensations, or instability? When does it start hurting - does it hurt when you're not moving the joint? And which part of the knee is it in - front, sides, under the kneecap, all over?
Also, are any other joints involved?
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation. No swelling, redness, or grinding, only a bit of when I sit or do anything that involves bending my knee, yes it hurts when I'm not doing anything, the pain is mainly at the top of my kneecap, and no, I dont think any other joints are involved.
Also, nice Toneberry avatar.

At the risk of encouraging self-diagnosis, it sounds pretty mechanical. * Rest, ice and physio, along with judicious use of painkillers, should help; if they don't, then get yourself checked. (Or if you start getting bone pain, persistent pain even while you're sleeping, or if the joint becomes red / hot / swollen / impossible to move, but that's another story entirely.) Do you do a lot of sports or activities that put stress on the knee?
Oh, and thanks. Found it on the 'net somewhere and couldn't attribute it to a particular artist, so I hope he / she doesn't mind.

Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Best to get it checked. A knee injury can end a career before it even starts. Skyrim jokes aside, I nearly had to give up my adventuriness after taking an injury to the knee. It got better eventually.

'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'If it's gas bubbles it requires either you pop the joint and stretch it out or wait about a week. Either way that passes without permanent effect.
If it is a sprain or pull (on occasion those don't manifest themselves until later, rare but happens), if it doesn't start feeling better by tomorrow's end go see a doctor.

Hey, do any of you know about anything about knee injuries? I don't think I did anything to injure my right knee, but a few days ago I woke up and it was very sore, and it still is even if I'm just sitting down for an extended periods of time, and if I touch certain spots it hurts even more. I realize it may just be a pulled muscle, especially since I woke up with it, but I guess I'm just a bit paranoid it might be something more because i've had pulled tendons in my leg before and I do walk a lot but.. Yeah. Any expertise?
