Pretty sure that the difference between the shields is that you can't pull it.

You can still shoot their eyes.

[up][up]That's because the MP classes come from a variety of different backgrounds and have really weird powers while Shepard's stuck using Alliance crap. But come on Cerberus, you could've at least rebuilt Shepard with the ability to teleport or shoot lasers out of his hands.

[up] According to the wiki, you can also Overload or Energy Drain it.

On that note: goddamn this DLC sounds awesome, with all the new enemies, squadmate interactions, fanservice, the Mirror Match, the arena, et cetera. Too bad I'm probably not even going to be able to play it for two more weeks.

My headcanon on the Citadel during the Battle of Earth is that Bailey and all the other major characters in there are still alive. The Keepers control most of the Citadel's functions and, thanks to the Prothean sabotage, the Reapers can't force the Keepers to obey them. Hence why they don't just shut down life support. The Reapers were able to have an indoctrinated agent (probably TIM) to close the Citadel arms. To the best of my knowledge, the Citadel doesn't have any method of moving, so the Reapers must have physically dragged the Citadel through the Serpent Nebula Mass Relay to Earth's orbit. Bailey is leading a resistance against the Reapers, who have deployed their husks to stop them. Since the Citadel is so durable, few people are killed during the explosions in Destroy and Synthesisnote .

@Tuefel: Yup =( Turian ghost heavy melee is awesome btw.(they use jetboots to jump in air and punch ground)

Just sad that Shepard can't get that item they added in Reckoning which gives characters' batarian heavy melee. You know, the awesome head explosions causing punch.

I would not want to be on it while it goes boom regardless.

I would hope Bailey is alive. I liked Bailey.

Oh you can still pull their shields. They'll just get new ones after a bit.

Should have given him the Biotic Whips. If only Phoenix and Lazarus had worked together.

@bosses,

I was referring to the main game, without DLC. I am glad TIM is not a boss, though. It really doesn't fit him.

But, yeah, the lack of bosses was disappointing. Brutes, Banshees and Atlas could pass for bosses in early game, but by the end I could finish them so quickly that even a small group of them wasn't a threat*

. Not to mention they stop being awesome after you killed dozens of them already.

@Tuefel,

Sigh. Okay, lets correct myself. Lack of mention or whatsoever while the previous game implied they are all dead do imply lack of existence.

Also, for all intents and purpose, the collectors don't exist in ME 1. Back them, you can't make an argument based on their existence because there is no way for us to know they exist. It is like claiming there is no way the Reapers killed anyone in the Citadel since the latter clearly have a squad of super C-Sect protecting them*

.

But, anyway, whatever. I've already admitted. I was wrong about that point. There is mention of them in the codex, I know that already. It is bad writing for not mentioning them again in the actual gameplay, even though they are so important in ME 2, but that is not that much of a big deal.

My main point is you were disagreeing with me about the possibility of a large part of the Citadel citizen being fine, therefore implying they are all dead. You used the Seeker Swarms as an argument for that. You were not wrong that the swarms could be used to have easily captured everyone, but there is no reason to assume this was the case when such thing did not happened anywhere else in the whole game. Yeah, it is certainly a possibility the swarms were used, but it is equally possible, if not more so considering the rest of the game, that they were not.

Basically, we have diverged about the main point. The actual existence of the swarms is irrelevant for the original discussion. I was wrong about that, and I still think this is a piece of bad writing, but that information itself is still irrelevant. What matters is that the swarms existence still doesn't mean the whole Citadel was killed in the Reaper attack. Hell, even if they were used, this still doesn't mean a whole lot, as I pointed previously, as the captured organics are not immediately processed, based on what we saw in ME 2.

Also, again, back in ME 2 it implied the "single ship and base of operation" was the wholesome of the Collectors. Even if this turned out to not be true, you can't fault me to believe so considering ME 3 did not do a great job trying to disprove that.

Speaking of difficult fights, am I the only one who finds that the Super Elite Collector fight in the arena is harder than the Mirror Match or Fatal Error? Seeker swarms can ruin a Vanguard's day very easily and Scions tend to come out of nowhere. And then there's the Praetorians.

Mind you, "Citadel" is the first time I have fought the ME3 Collectors.

The Collectors are by far the hardest faction in multiplayer, so this was to be expected.

[up]Really? That is funny. Admittedly, I haven't fought them in Super Elite, but overall, the faction I have more trouble with in arena are the Geth.

CAT6 are based off of Cerberus troops, but they are slightly more than just palette swaps. Basically:

  • Specialists: Centurians minus smoke grenades plus ability to spawn Disruptor Drones. Also traded Frag Grenade for Multi-Frag. Uses Tempests instead of Mattocks, so shield gate won't be as much of a crutch.
  • Snipers: Nemesis plus smoke grenade and Tac Cloak. Uses a Incisor instead of Raptor, so again shield gate isn't as effective.
  • Heavy: Guardian with armor instead of health, a shield that can't be penetraded with AP ammo or mods and no "mailslot" hole, but can still be yanked away with appropriate powers and be overloaded. Strangely guns with innate piercing cababilities, like the Widow and Javelin, still penetrates. Unlike Guardians however they can regenerate a new shield. Plus they use a Revenant instead of Talon, making them more effective at range. Also, shield gate again.
  • Disruptor Drone: Basically just an Action Bomb variant of the standard drone.

Yes, Collectors are easily the hardest faction now. Aim for the Scion's left shoulder; destroying it deals bonus damage and decreases his attack power. Aim for a Praetorian's "chest". Destroying it will reveal its weak point.

Oh and Mfan I just remembered, there's one detail about this DLC that'll dissappoint. No vehicle sections.

I've only played two games of multiplayer, both on bronze and before any of the DLC was released. I played a human sentinel. First match was against on the Tuchanka map. We won, no thanks to me. The inability to pause so I can line up my shots tends to hurt. The second match was on the reactor map, also against geth. We lost during the extraction round, though I'm pretty sure it was not entirely my fault.

Still, those two matches were enough to get my readiness high enough to see the Deep Breath scene before the EC.

In the Team Mako and Team Hammerhead bits who is on each team? Is it ME 1 squadmates on Mako and the others on Hammerhead? Since I can remember Wrex and Tali on Mako and Cortez on Hammerhead.

[up][up][up][up][up][up] Still a ton of variation if you ask me.

Also while that is disappointing for the last DLC, I had to have seen that coming as soon as the setting of the DLC was announced. I guess I'll have to wait for a spin-off to get my precious Mako back.

Sorry about the abrupt change in the topic*

, I have a small doubt about the ending. Is it ever explained how The Illusive Man was controlling Shepard and Anderson? I mean, part of the point of the ending was that Shepard was not indoctrinated, so their choice was their own, and not the Reaper's, which is why TIM himself could never have done so himself. It was also a plot point that Shepard did not have a control chip of any sorts implanted on them when they were rebuild, so TIM shouldn't be able to control them that way either.

Then, how? How did TIM control Shepard at all?

PS:I like both vehicles.

Yeah, collectors are much harder than other factions.

Ya know what makes them even worse than ME 2 versions? EVERY collector unit can get possessed now. Including scions and praetorians. And there can be multiple possessed unit at same time on higher difficulties.

They are also really good at stunlocking.

Anyway, playing final mission for first time with extended cut. This makes mor sense than "Squadmates disappear(possibly dead) after laser beam hits, but still reappear on normandy)" though it still feels strange that normandy is able to evac them in middle of harbinger shooting everything without being shot down :P And having time to get down from space to help Shepard. Ah the awkward filling of plot holes.

@Heatt:*shrugs* TIM's implants have power to control everyone with any implants?*shrugs*

[up][up]For me, the worst part of that scene is Shepard actually stopping to help the evac. I mean, I know Shep is loyal to their friends, but it is kinda ridiculous in that situation. Everything depended on someone reaching the beam to lose so much precious time is a huge disservice to everything they ever fought for. Had they not stopped there at this point, they might have reached the goal without being blasted away like that.

[up]Hmm, that works I guess? Although it is weird, considering neither the Reapers nor the TIM ever showed a similar power*

. Also, biotic usually have visual effects, right?

But yeah, that seems to be a good enough explanation, I suppose. There is worse bits of bad writing in the ending, so I am not going to nit pick this one. I just wanted to know if there was an official answer to that. Apparently, we have not, sadly.
