They do cause damage and disrupt you from using abilities though.
Anyway, MP is canon in broadstrokes as far as I know. Even though it means that volus soldiers are canon too.(though Barla Von has high score in Armax Arena, so... Yeah. Its canon even in single layer :P)

Once again lack of use does not show lack of existance. If the collectors are still around it is a good bet the seekers are as well. Their general lack of use could be from any number of reason up to and including the counter measures developed in 2 or the fact the reapers are more interested now in not just a simple harvest but also some culling.
The reapers also have a good reason to clear out the citadel. The fact they have done so every cycle for one. Also to keep anyone from the current cycle from interfeering inside the citadel further for another point.
The last of the Protheans popped in and interferred. Then Shepard and Co. interferred. I highly doubt they would go for 3 and 0 and leave anyone to wander free inside the citadel this time around. They have been given the idiot ball so the players could have a chance at winning but doesn't mean it applies to everything.
Also if by taking their time meanign processing many millions of sentient beings the citadel would empty in short order. The citadel is not an alien planet it is a giant reaper structure.

Who watches the watchmen?MP characters are specialists meant to actually fight these things. So even if the cure isn't widespread then these guys will still get it. For that matter the "cure" just means no paralysis; seekers will still screw up your omni-tools and biotics.

link to map since you can see picture of hazard version of the map.
You gotta admit that its weird that reapers don't use them more often since seeker swarms are rather... Intimidating and useful. I mean seriously, look at that pic, they are everywhere!
They have poorly integrated the expanded lore into game play. Ii is a pity really. They could have done some cool things with it.
Tiny problem. That is not their homeworld. It is just one base. The collectors are still around. That was not the sole source of the collectors just a major base of operations in the galaxy. A hefty blow yeah. Complete extermination. Nope.

Who watches the watchmen?Which is a huge far cry about their original ability to completely paralyze people which, I presume, was what Tuefel was talking about.
@28403,
Lack of any mention of whatever is an implication of lack of existence. Specially since the last game implied quite strongly you killed them all*. For a SP character such as myself, there is literally no reason to suspect the collectors still exist.
But, anyway, I already acknowledged I was wrong about that. But even then, I still find weird to assume they clearly used them in the Citadel even though they weren't used anywhere else important. Even if the Seeker Swarms still exist, they clearly are not in widespread use*. So their mere existence is not proof they were used in the Citadel. You claim lack of use does not mean lack of existence, but the reverse is true well. Existence doesn't mean use, as it is obvious.
@Tuefel: Though it does make universe rather silly..
I mean, krogans with hammers, people with swords acting like ninjas, voluses doing fighting, batarians having awesome heavy melee where they punch enemy's head so hard that they explode, whips...
Just saying that those two guys on Citadel dlc who talk about good old days is rather apt thing since things sure have stopped being mundane long time ago and its hard to believe there once existed times when MP was so simple that people thought it was barebones
^Well, assuming that collectors REALLY didn't have only an one ship, it makes sense for them to be around. Plus reapers can probably recreate them just like they can create rachi breeder.

Their lack of use is completely idiotic, considering how incredibly useful they were in ME 2. Frankly, it seems a Plot Hole to me, specially due the lack of in-game mention. The writers probably intended for the Collectors to be wiped out in the end of ME 2, as it was implied back them, but than changed idea to give the MP a new group of characters.
I mean, nothing against improving the MP, but there shouldn't be an insistence the MP is perfectly compatible with SP in every aspects. I may be mistaken, but there is other much more glaring incompatible issues, such as importing MP plays in which there was Geth players to a game were the Geth were destroyed*.
That doesn't mean there weren't already planning to add collectors to MP, though.

How can something so flashy as jet pack turians ever be considered "Infiltrators"?
Donate money to Skullgirls, get a sweet poster.^^*shrugs* Special ops?
^Well, jetboots, swords and whips(plus dragoons make appearance on armax arena) were mentioned by npcs in citadel dlc, soooooo... Yeah. Then again, we got already omniblades so yeah :P
Also, cerberus assault troopers also got jetboots. Difference is that turian ghost infiltrators use them in combat outside of "dropping/jumping" onto higher platform cerberus troopers do.

We have already Phantons and Kai Leng as well, so all pretenses of seriousness is already thrown out of the window.
Then again, you could make a point that all these flashy moves are just not efficient. Shepard is officially the biggest bad ass in the galaxy and they don't need such silliness. A good gun, some training and maybe biotics is all you need.
Sure, it make sense for them to still be around as it make sense for the Reapers to just recreate them. What doesn't make sense is any of that having so much as a small mention through the whole game (DLC aside). It is just bad writing. There is no reason for a player to suspect what was implied in the previous game is not true anymore. And the lack of mention to Seeker Swarms is plain plot hole, considering how powerful they were. They could make the whole Earth resistance useless. If there were not to be used, even though they still exist, there should be an in-game explanation.
Oh, and talking about the Collectors "homeworld" is a moot point. They don't need to have a homeworld. There were artificially created for the Reapers. The base you destroyed in ME 2 was big enough for all of them and implied to be the only one that exist.
I was honestly expecting them to have some bosses in this game. That would be awesome.
(really, I think there is only Kai Leng as an actual boss, right?)

At first I thought Cat6 were based on multiplayer characters. The Heavy being the the Paladin. The standard trooper being one with Cluster Grenades. The sniper being an Infiltrator. Then I realised they were actually just Cerberus reskins.
Tealove is best pony.Pony Fanon IndexWell, some of multiplayer human classes ARE based on cerberus classes...
For example. N7 Slayer is basically Kai Leng.(with same biotic sword beam thingy) Who in turn was male phantom. Heck, phantom armor you get in citadel dlc is for males same as N7 Slayer armor. N7 Paladin with shield is probably based on Guardian but with Shadow Broker's shield.
^^Kai Leng and boss of Citadel dlc. Illusive man was going to be a boss. Its pity there aren't more bosses =/ I mean, bosses are awesome in games. Seriously. Like the best part of combat.

I am afraid this is simply not true. Just because it is not mentioned does not mean it does not exist. The logic in there is inherently false. Just because someone didn't mention oxygen back before we knew it existed doesn't mean it didn't exist. In ME 1 there was no mention of the Collectors yet according to the general story they existed in the time frame well before ME 1.
The question of the possible extinction of the Collectors was answered quite a while ago. It was said the Reapers took a number of them with them when they finally retreated from the galaxy into dark space and left some behind through the Omega 4 Relay.
The players blew up a single cruiser and a major base of operations. We effectively wiped out the forces currently in operation in the galaxy at the time. We did not wipe out the species entirely.
There are other bits of lore that didn't get put into the game and some of what was, was poorly implimented. Kai Leng anyone? Not implimenting still existing enemies for the players to fight? More questionable lack of implimentation. This would include surviving collectors and the seeker swarms. They would have made a good addition say appearing on one or two worlds for a good " Oh fuck there are more of the buggers!" moment from the Normandy crew.
The big picture has quite a few holes and flaws in it. CPF pointed out quite a few in a seperate discussion. He made a good point the cut scenes are especially guilty of this to varying degrees.
Another one for the bosses. It would be awesome. Lent a more epic feel to the struggle.

Don't they have a lot of abilities to distinguish themselves from Cerberus though? Snipers, for example, can throw smoke grenades and turn invisible. Heavies have armor instead of health, a machine gun instead of a pistol, and have shields that function differently. Specialists have submachine guns, can launch multi-frag grenades, and can deploy drones.
I'm also going to say I would've loved more boss fights. The lack of them was one of the many things I was disappointed in. The big bosses in particular are cool (<3 Geth Colossus), I think there's only been two kind-of-cool cool human-sized bosses (Shadow Broker and Saren). I haven't played Citadel yet, but I'm willing to bet that the boss of that DLC is at least better than those two.

...Some of other multiplayer oddities: Batarians have omni webs and omni wrist blades they shoot out. Also, blade armor(literally that, using it causes spikes to materialize) which causes damage if attacked with melee attack. Talon mercenaries have omni crossbows. N7 Destroyers have Power Armor.
A lot of multiplayer classes biotics are rather awe inspiring too making some of Shepard's basic ones look tame. With exceptions of bonus powers like flare of course. Also, apparently some of them can teleport through walls, like those two asari mention on casino.(apparently it causes sterility)
Also, all of dlc singeplayer(except blood pack weapons) weapons came from MP. Hence why we got a lot of absurdly overpowered weapons. And just bit absurd weapons that are awesome, like harpoon sniper rifle. Or grenade launcher sniper rifle. Shotgun grenade launcher.... Err, all mp weapons are available in singleplayer already so you probably have noticed some of them already.

Yeah they're different from Cerberus. But they're not based on multiplayer characters as I thought.
Speaking of them, a Krogan Warlord would have made a cool boss.
Tealove is best pony.Pony Fanon Index

But anyway, if the bunch of random MP characters are immune to the swarms, than it means the rest of the Galaxy already have working countermeasures to the swarms main ability. If a random Vorcha is immune to the swarms, than so is the Citadel citizens.
(PS:I just realized the Vorcha are a terrible example here, since they could easily be immune the swarms even without Mordin's upgrades)
