Press release.

If anyone's not familiar with that name, he was the creator of the very elaborate and very weird "Tékumel" (Empire of the Petal Throne) setting.

Just heard about this, and lifted a Coke to the man's memory.

Also, I'm quite sad that Empire of the Petal Throne does not have a page for itself yet. I lack the familiarity with the material to do it myself, sadly, but if someone would like to make a tribute to his memory...

We're losing all our progenitors. *toast* To you, good sir. May your afterlife be as interesting as your imagination.

Not only EPT (which was the game on the the guys in my very first gaming group ran), but also a wonderful novel set in Tekumel, called The Man Of Gold.

Like Tolkien, he was a linguist and philologist who created a world to play with his constructed languages in.

I'll turn down a glass for him.

@ Ramidel: I'm not all that familiar with it. Think I'll start a stub page anyway.

@ Madrugada: I actually have a copy of The Man of Gold. I added the Marry Them All example at the end to the appropriate page, even.
