"I... Um..." Ryuuzaki wasn't sure what to say. It was a nice statue, but she didn't want to make the girl think that she wished to make her part with it. Then again, if she said "no", would her neighbour take it as an insult?
"I... Suppose one like that would be nice, yes," she finally decided upon saying. "It would look very nice in the dojo."

Natsuko finally decided to stop staring blankly at the classroom and flipped the class roll open. Might as well start familiarizing herself with who sat where. There were a few names she recognized; Sukini, the Kendo Club's Ryuuzaki, the Kunomaso twins.... and that was pretty much it. Natsuko blinked, looking out at the class full of girls that were largely unknown quantities. She really had to keep up with her underclassmen better, not just the ones that solicited her services.
Wow was Natsuko glad she hadn't said that out loud.

Let God do His work, we will see to ours. Bring in the candles."Well met, Shimada-chan!" said Kyoku. She smiled widely. "Well," she continued and tilted her head, "I find the fact that you have a ponytail mixed with what looks like a Hime Cut rather endearing..." she blushed a little.
Looking around, she noticed that Sakura disappeared. She reached out and grabbed Kanako's hand, dragging her toward the classroom, practically running.
"We'd better catch up with Sakura-chan and everybody, Shimada-chan! Being late is a bad idea!"
Blearily, Kumiko shook herself awake and looked down. Oh, she'd turned someone into a pillow again... at least it had only been their arm. Last year, she'd kept using the lap of the girl to her left as a pillow. Strangely, they'd never really complained. Maybe they were scared that she was going to hurt them if they disturbed her sleep in any way?
"Is the teacher here yet? I think this class gets the PE teacher..." Kumiko said, yawning.
Torako... had returned to trying to finish the chapter of manga, in the absence of the teacher. It seemed like she'd manage it.
Mana had frozen when the anime-girl suddenly turned to stare at her, as if fully aware of Mana's staring. She felt somewhat embarrassed, but the girl didn't seem to mind, oddly enough. Probably got looks all the time...
Well anyway... "Uh, hi." Mana replied with a small smile. She would have given her a wave, but she was quite sure her hand would look like talons in their current state. "Sukini Mana. Um, nice to meet you, Inokuma-chan."
She seems a bit young for this class, doesn't she? I know it's pretty varied, but... Mana found herself wondering. Wait... white hair, red eyes, body of a loli?
No way! She's an ancient entity that's several hundred years old! Mana realised.
Tsubame smiled at the smaller girl. In part because she wasn't getting drooled on and used as a pillow anymore, which was always a reason to be happy but also in part because, frankly, the sleepy girl looked cute. Although she also seemed like she might be a bit too young for high school. Not that the bespectacled girl would say anything about that, pointing out someone's lack of development was just rude in her books.
"Not yet, but I'm sure she'll be here soon." she replied, "Did you have a nice nap?"
Burn up, hurricane of justice!"Hnn? Oh, yeah... pity it couldn't be longer... why don't they just start school at lunchtime?" Kumiko whined, stretching and unnoticeably straightening her tails. It was so uncomfortable to sit in chairs like this but people always complained when she turned the chair around and leant on it. Well, the teachers did, at least, and all those annoying girls that were obsessed with manners and stuff.
"Then carry it," Momoko stated, her monotone voice hopefully adding to the weirdness of the situation. So far, this was going well. The other girl looked rather confused, and that meant it could only get better from here, at least as far as the confusion went. Momoko was pleased, but she didn't want to let it show for fear of breaking the weirdness somehow. "If you want the statue, carry it for the rest of the day."
Cheerfully, Aiko approached Mana. It was certainly nice to meet a new person, so talking to her was a good way to start the day off. "It's nice to meet you, Sukini-san. I'm really excited today, there's so many new people, and stuff... um... it's definitely going to be fun!"
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up.""Yeah, I'm sure it will be..." Mana replied, hands now clenched between her knees under the desk. Damn it, she desperately wanted to go execute insane combos or dodge high speed bullets with a millisecond's worth of warning... but she also didn't want to lose her PSP. Damn it, maybe this conversation thing would help.
"So, um..." Mana scoured her brain for a suitable topic of discussion. Deciding not to enquire about her anime colours or youkai ancestry, Mana instead asked, "So... play games, Inokuma-chan?"
"Carry it? I, uh..." Ryuuzaki was beginning to suspect that the girl was trying to trick her, but she couldn't exactly say so out loud. If she was wrong, then she would be dishonoured by such a false accusation. Instead, she simply sighed, and said, "Very well, if you do not mind being parted with it then I shall gladly take it."
"Games?" Aiko tilted her head. Well, she had some games. She didn't play them a lot, but she had a few. Well... depending on what kind of games Mana was talking about. "Um... I've got a few but I don't play them very often. And what kind of games do you mean?"
With a nod, Momoko abruptly stood up. Carefully, she lifted the statue. It was rather heavy and difficult to move, so she held it close to her and did her best to move quickly without dropping it. It wasn't and easy task, but the desk wasn't far away. With a thud, she set the dragon statue down on Ryuuzaki's desk.
Then, looking at Ryuuzaki intensely, Momoko spoke again.
"It is cursed."
With that, she quickly turned away and sat down.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Definitely an odd bird, this one. You had to admire her powers of deduction though; not everyone would have noticed her mixed hime cut ponytail so quickly. Why exactly she was blushing was a mystery to Kanako though; they'd only just met and she was already reaction like that? Maybe it was just part of her personality, considering that most people wouldn't glomp you the moment they saw you either. Still she thought maybe this could be the foundation of some kind of friendship. No sooner had that thought passed through her mind than the girl sped off with the Yanki Nadeshiko in tow.
"You sure we need to hurry, Hyou-chan? I mean, the teacher's probably not even there yet," Kanako remarked, even as she kept her speed up to try and match Kyoku and thereby avoid being dragged to the classroom.

"But hey, I'm in the mahjong club here too, so if you want to join, I'm sure you can," Kina said, "we really only play for fun, though, I don't think we're actually good enough to enter any competitions or anything serious like that."

By this point, Hikaru had decided that the various conversations were interesting enough to actually listen to, and had shut her book. The thud of the...dragon statue? Why was a dragon statue here, anyway?...had drawn her attention to that part of the classroom. She glanced out the door and noticed that the girl who had spoken to her earlier was en route to the classroom, as well.
Avatar from http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/7486.html"Any games!" Mana exclaimed. "Anything with suitable amounts of input! Like this!"
Finding a totally valid excuse to bring back her game, Mana lunged for her bag and pulled it out, hurriedly speeding through the cutscene and towards the next fight. Sadly, it wasn't her character-of-choice's true love, but some boring female character who wouldn't stop flirting with him. Ew.
"Fighting games are fun! Just watch this!" Mana declared with excitement. She was gonna enjoy beating up this pointless character with her more basic combos! Which involved stringing together a couple dozen hits using the most complex attacks her character h- oh damn she missed a frame. Oh well, easily recovered...
When Kanako asked her question, Kyoku skidded to a halt; they were in sight of their homeroom. "Oh, it's not the teacher I am worried about," she said. "It's Sakura-chan. She's kinda bad with people; really haughty and stuff. You see" — her face became serious, and she stopped smiling — "it's hard to be a half-breed here... It was also hard back home. People picked on us. I didn't let it get to me, but Sakura-chan did. And you can see the result. Not to mention that her having more brains than any two persons around her combined did not exactly help her ego... Ten to one that she already offended someone in that quiet, frosty way of hers. So come!"
Now smiling again, she entered the classroom. "Good morning, everyone!"
"Cursed?" Ryuuzaki frowned. "That is... Most unfortunate. But I am used to cursed objects. My sword, for instance..." She grew silent for a moment as she turned her eyes to the bokken hanging by her side, before continuing. "Nevertheless, as long as the curse is not too strong, I am sure the shrine beside our dojo will be able to exorcise it."
She slowly ran a finger across the intricately carved dragon, admiring its craftsmanship. "Are you... Sure it is cursed, though? I sense no malevolent aura from it..."
"Sukini! Uh, Inokuma-san?" Natsuko dragged out her doom glare again, practically shouting across the room at the two girls. Hopefully the other was in her assigned seat, or she'd just messed up badly. Kunomaso's cursed statue was even less her business then Sukini's PSP quite frankly; strictly speaking she wasn't doing anything wrong.... yet.

Let God do His work, we will see to ours. Bring in the candles.A piece of paper was deposited a second later on Ryuuzaki's desk, Torako having taken note of her sister's current actions and decided to help her along a little. The teacher was taking so long to get here, after all, and it was getting boring waiting... and if this girl thought that she could actually detect curses, well...
If it's cursed but you can't tell that it's cursed, wouldn't that indicate a curse more powerful than any that you've met before? Logically, it's best not to do anything risky that might get everyone killed, so taking care of the statue is the best option.
Kyoku really didn't give Kanako much time to react to her explanation about her sister. It seemed to the voluntary delinquent that it was simply a matter of the girl's sister not having better people to hang out with. You have nothing but jerks around, you're forced to become tough or shrink back right? Maybe if the girl had non-judgemental people around she'd feel less distant. But whatever. Following Kyoku's cheerful entrance Kanako kind of stumbled in before gracefully finding a seat near the back of the room and taking a seat.
"Morning," she announced to the world at large, then propped her feet up on her desk.
The teacher that was missing from class was in the faculty's joint office when she noticed a memo on her desk. That was odd. More so when she was informed that in addition to her physical education instruction duties, she'd been assigned as the homeroom teacher of a class. Which meant that now she was late for her own class on the first day of her being assigned to it. Grumbling something about how the 'brass' kept making things all 'fubar', she pulled on a jacket that matched her uniform and marched out of the office.
Upon arriving outside the room she discovered that the girls were all chatting away as if a missing teacher was an excuse to socialize. Kei straightened her collar, took a deep breath, and stepped inside the room with a fiercely determined look. With a fairly masculine stride she made her way to the front of the room, then wrote her name out in blocky looking kanji before turning on her heels to face the class.
"Good morning, ladies. I've just been informed that I am to be your homeroom teacher until further notice. My name is Miyashita Kei, and I am the school's physical education instructor normally," she sharply announced, then insisted, "We must begin the class correctly, so you are to stand, bow and greet your sensei as one. Proceed now."
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SHikaru blinked at the sudden entrance of the teacher, but was nonetheless one of the first to stand, it seemed. Remembering the instructions to bow 'as one', she hesitated, waiting—although she did give a small nod to the teacher, and there might have even been a flicker of a smile.

"The statue is well-crafted," Momoko replied. That one was going perfectly, her goal was to cause endless and extreme confusion. Now, to commence phase two: Enhanced confusion. Still not turning to face the girl beside her, she adjusted the statue. The statue itself remained large, wooden, and detailed. "Do you want it?"
Aiko thought she had heard something, for a moment. An odd little noise... that, and she could almost feel herself being stared at. Blinking, she turned to face the source of the stare. It was another older-looking girl. Aiko wasn't entirely surprised, it wasn't every day you saw someone who was no older then ten by appearances in high school.
"Oh, hello!" she said, "My name is Inokuma Aiko, who are you?"
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."
