Kansai City.

An slightly eccentric and metropolitan population center, filled with a little bit of just about anything you might desire. On the center of this city's stage there is an immensely popular and cut-throat idol business, where young girls with just the right amount of talent and charisma get to shine ever brighter than the night stars.

Now while this is our stage, that is not the content of our play.

Rather, look over at the young (and not so young...) maidens who dwell in this modern city that is almost taken out of fantasy.

Watch these flower blossom, wither and then being reborn again as their hearts clash against one another!

The first scene of our play is centered in the prestigious Hoshizaki Academy... whose luxurious halls of learning have been for many long years the stages upon which the academic life of the most successful ladies of Kansai and indeed, the whole of Japan.

Morning marked just the beginning of yet another day at Hoshikaze Academy; another day of wondering why her parents had sent her to this place. Sure it was an elite academic school but there were plenty of those in Japan. Did they honestly think sending Kanako to Kansai City to finish high school would somehow convince her to pursue being an idol or something? Granted any school they sent her to she'd probably dislike on the grounds that it was her parents who had sent her. At least the girl watching was pleasant enough - a lot of them were pretty cute. Not that she'd do much more than watch of course; she had at least learned her lesson about not kissing at school.

In order to keep up appearances she now regularly wore her old-style school uniform with delinquent length skirt and leather biker gloves. That she rode a bicycle from her home to the school made her slightly less intimidating. Her low ponytail didn't quite look right with the distinguishing bangs and body of a hime cut, but Kanako didn't care. A small white stick protruded from her lips, at first glance appearing to be a cigarette. Instead it was actually a lolipop, but it added to the image she was going for. Having arrived early she deliberately lounged about outside, leaning up against the front of the building and waiting for the first students to arrive.

"Looking like a good day for it," she thought aloud, taking in a deep breath of the morning air.

Miyashita Kei led by example. It was one thing to instruct young ladies how to get in shape and play sports. If you didn't partake in regular exercise and a dedication to fitness yourself, what kind of PE teacher were you? To that end she arrived an hour before classes began to run laps at the school track, followed by some early calisthenics. After being thoroughly awakened by that she typically returned to the changing rooms to shower. Having just finished that she was dressed for the day and ready to teach (even if her first class wasn't for a couple of periods, according to the schedule).

The PE instructor sat in the teachers' lounge sipping a mug of coffee, pondering what should be taught to the girls later. That was always a tough question. Probably some of them would need to be whipped into shape or would complain that she was pushing them too hard. You had to go beyond your limits to become confident and strong though. Perhaps the most notable thing about the young teacher was that she dressed in a uniform (minus the jacket) that was eerily similar to what her grandfather had worn during the war. Kei felt it gave her an aura of authority; others seemed to think it was weird.

"Maybe an obstacle course.. but no, there's no budget for that," she suggested to no one in particular.

Hikaru pulled a book out of her bag as she headed for the school. Not very many people appeared to be there yet, which suited the pseudo-mage fine; she wasn't really sure what she would say to anyone. Brushing brown hair out of her face as she glanced around the grounds, she did notice a girl leaning up against the front of the school, dressed rather oddly—gloves and a long skirt. Hikaru gave the other girl a brief nod, sitting down a few feet away from her and opening the book. It was a nice enough day that she could read outside if she wanted to, after all.

Every so often, the pages of her book would turn; this only happened when the wind gusted, but oddly enough only one page would turn at a time. The brown-haired girl didn't look up from her book until another student approached the doors; even then she would only glance up for an instant before her head went back down.

Kanako noticed that there was a fairly cute girl now sitting nearby reading a book. Just why only one page turned at a time was a mystery and really none of Kanako's concern. Since no one else had arrived it seemed like it'd be an okay idea to try and strike up a conversation with the girl. Moving with grace that didn't match her improvised look, she strolled over and sat down next to the girl.

"Nice day, isn't it? Perfect weather for reading and relaxing," she remarked, then glanced over and asked, "So what're you reading?"

"Come on, Sakura-chan, can't you move a little faster?" complained Kyoku happily; she was dragging her little sister by hand toward their school, the Hoshikaze Academy.
"No, onee-san," said Sakura softly. "I'm moving fast enough with you tugging me toward school like it is something interesting, something to look forward to."
"Really, Sakura-chan, stop being like that," said Kyoku.
The two girls reached the school's front and noticed Kanako and Hikaru. Sakura pretended that she didn't really notice them - an easy task since her face showed no sign that she even saw them - and hung back; she knew what was coming, and wanted no part in it.
Kyoku smiled. "Hiiii there!" she shouted. The next thing Kanako knew, Kyoku threw herself on the other girl, hugging her tightly.

Hikaru glanced up briefly at the girl who approached her, holding up the book as she slipped a bookmark into it. The title read So You Want to be a Wizard, by Diane Duane. Hikaru did, in fact, appreciate irony.

She started as another girl approached the two of them and proceeded to glomp Kanako, but didn't say anything, only making quick eye contact with the girl who had hung back—a sibling, she presumed.

Sadako Petrauskaitė made her way towards the school, nervous but optimistic. It was her first day at a new school, and only time would tell what it held for her. She was still wearing the uniform from her old school in Tokyo, so she was sure to stand out. Arriving early at the building, she saw a few girls already there. She wondered if she should introduce herself, but since they seemed a bit occupied, she decided to wait a few minutes before saying anything.

Natsuko lounged on the hood of her car (or was it a large wheeled lemon?), a pair of first year girls walking away quietly talking between themselves and not glancing over surreptitiously at all at their sempai. Another pair of satisfied customers, another week of gas for the aged tricycle she napped on she thought, ignoring their looks. The wind tugged at the edges of her jacket. She considered getting off the hood; more girls were starting to show up and few casual customers were willing to trek all the way out to her 'office' in the mornings. Checking her watch, Natsuko sighed. It was probably time to move operations onto the front stoop.

Sliding off the hood, she paused to stretch before setting off past the few teachers' that had already arrived cars. Casting an opinionated eye over the selection Natsuko could only shake her head and sigh. No class. Well, okay, they all had class but no style. She nodded to herself, satisfied with the internal correction. As she made the corner she carefully noted that there was already a group of girls gathered. A couple hugging, most standing around, another a tall girl trying a little too hard to look tough leaning on the wall nearby.

Natsuko slouched by without more then a nod to any who made eye contact; they were already occupied and if they wanted to speak with her they could approach her. Selecting a comfortable step she sat down and reclined on the steps outside the main path of traffic.

Momoko was never particularly excited about school itself. But she still looked happy, today, as she opened the front doors and made her way inside. This wasn't because she liked school(she was a competent student, but not particularly special), it was because school was a large source of people to troll. And also cute girls, that was nice as well. She headed inside and stretched. Today was bound to be a good day for trolling, she could almost feel it. Smiling to herself, she glanced back and paused.

She was, of course, waiting for her twin sister. She didn't just want to leave her behind...

Aiko was already halfway to the classroom. Cheerfully she packed away her parasol and sped up her pace a little. She'd get to class early, and... generally be cheerful and have fun. That's what she tended to do all the time, really.

Ryuuzaki always seemed to stand out, no matter where she went. And it wasn't just because of her height, either; the faculty had long since given up on any attempts to get her to wear the uniform instead of her favoured kimonos. She looked more like she'd just stepped out of a history book rather than a modern young woman headed to high school.

It was rather a quiet morning for her, seeing how she'd only been challenged by representatives from three rival martial arts clubs today. Usually they'd be swarming around her as she made her way to school, but for some reason today was different. Of course, she wasn't the type to question small miracles like this, and so with an ever-so-subtle smile on her face she entered Hoshizaki Academy and quietly made her way towards class.

"Oh jeez, I'm late!" Kina said, hurrying towards the school.

Then, looking at her watch, she slowed down and said, "Oh, wait, I'm not late yet. That's good."

Now walking at a normal pace, she looked around, taking in the sights. She thought back on the nights studying and her prep work so she could get into a such a prestigious school. She thought, and now I've finally done it. I'm actually here at Ho-, as she promptly bumped into Sadako.

She stepped back, and bowed to apologize, "I'm very sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking."

Though she couldn't say she'd ever heard of Hikaru's book Kanako had been ready to remark on it anyway. The girl seemed shy, but that just meant getting her to talk would be a challenge. Before the Yankii Nadeshiko could ask any more questions she found herself beset by a force unexpected. One that knocked the wind out of her and turned out to be strangely perky. Kanako's head slowly turned to look down at who or what had attacked her, a smirk appearing on her face when she saw Kyoku there.

"H-hey," she responded somewhat uncomfortably, "You do this for everyone or is this an exclusive service?"

After a beat, she added, "Also, do I know you?"

Hikaru's quiet laugh was obscured by her turning a page again—with her hand, this time; there were enough people around that it would be a bit more easily noticed if it turned by itself. Other than that, she simply observed the exchange.

Even if she would have been happy to talk about her book.

Sadako's thoughts were interrupted as a pale girl wearing her new school's uniform bumped into her, then stepped back and apologized. Sadako returned the girl's bow. "Sorry, that was kind of my fault. I'm a little nervous, it's my first day here."

The girl laying on the steps lazily checks her watch again; plenty of time before she needed to start towards home room. She sighed, everyone always said to expect a lot of touching at all girls schools, that it was normal. Sometimes Natsuko wondered if they'd ever met 9/10 of Hoshizaki's student body.

Completely oblivious to the people around her, a brown-haired girl peering intently at her hand-held console entered her classroom. Judging by the grunts and yells emitted from it, she was currently playing some fighting game.

Can you hurt me more?!

I'll annihilate your body!

...A very suggestive fighting game.

Grinning widely, Mana finished the battle and bounded for her desk, slamming her bag onto the table and immediately began rooting through it, PSP still clutched in one hand. A few seconds later she found a note book and a pen. Finally laying her console to rest, Mana flipped through the note book for a suitably empty page and began to furiously scribble down plot points for her latest story. And it would be amazing! She didn't even seem to notice the pink-rimmed glasses slipping from her head to her nose.

Torako, lagging behind, looked up from the manga she'd been trying to finish before school started... only to realise that her sister was almost out of sight. A few seconds later, the mute girl came to a halt, panting, and frowned at her sister. Why hadn't she mentioned that she was slowing down? She knew that Torako easily got absorbed in things.

After a brief bout of fumbling, a pad of paper was produced and a message written across it in scarily neat handwriting (which rather explained how Torako was always the first person to finish a written test). Onee-chan, why didn't you tell me that I wasn't moving quickly enough? I almost ran into someone and then I had to run after you and lost my page. >.<

Kumiko arrived to class from the direction of the changing rooms and their lovely, lovely showers, stretching and ignoring the person showing up to pick a fight. Oddly, she got a lot less challenges than the person she viewed as her main rival... maybe it was the increased proliferation of broken bones? Kumiko didn't believe in going soft on anyone that viewed themselves as potentially her equal.

As normal, the fox was still rather on the wet side when she got to the classroom and flung herself at a chair without the enthusiasm she got later in the day. Even with exercise in the morning to wake her up, Kumiko was rarely fully awake until ten or so. That probably explained why she only bothered creating illusions of the uniform skirt and blouse; anything else was too fiddly for her to bother with in the morning and having more clothes later would be suspicious.

Momoko frowned, slightly, at the note. She cared a great deal for her younger(granted, it wasn't by very long at all, given that they were twins) sister, and hadn't realized she was outpacing her so much. She felt pretty bad about that, Momoko certainly didn't want to leave her sister behind. It had certainly dampened her previously cheerful mood.

"I'm sorry, Torako-chan," she apologized, "I didn't realize that I was leaving you so far behind."

Aiko, on the other hand, had been totally unable to avoid walking into someone. Whoever had dropped that... whatever it was(Aiko hadn't gotten a good look at it, but it was big enough to trip her up quite a bit) was mean! But as it stood, with a yelp she stumbled forward and bumped into someone's back.

Kyoku cheerfully disentangled herslef from Kanako. Smiling, she said, "I do this to every cute girl — or guy for that matter that I see! You look really cuddly and cute!" A pause, in which she cracked her knuckles, and bowed. "No, I've no idea who you are, so I doubt you know me; my name's Hyou Kyoku, and that's my little sister Sakura-chan over there" — she pointed toward Sakura with her thumb.
Sakura stepped forward, most likely to introduce herself, but then Aiko bumped into her. Immediately, she dove froward, tucking her head in and rolling on her left shoulder, dropping her schoolbag in the process.
She got up, dusting the front of her longcoat and turning around. She looked down at Aiko, and, silently, crouched and offered her her hand.
