Revenge is a possible motive. I mean, Rebecca did say that the kidnappers have made no demands, and in fact have not broadcasted the fact that they snatched her son. If Rebecca hadn't stayed vigilant, she wouldn't have noticed her son's absence at all!
Whoever did this has to have money and connections. After all, poor Michael got taken from Rome, Italy and was transported to Paris, France!
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!Do you think this show is making a Deconstruction of the Mama Bear trope? I mean, think about it. The trope is most certainly being played straight. Then you have realistic consequences occurring, like Rebecca being sloppy (which is not good for a CIA agent), having to be told that having a kid in her line of work was a bad idea to begin with, creating suspicion on the CIA's part, and not to mention wrecking up the status quo on a number of things.
Did you guess that "Hard Drive" is actually a man with a photographic memory? I certainly didn't!
I feel sorry for Agent Dax Miller. I thought he didn't have kids, but it turns out that he has two kids and a wife. Unfortunately, his job prevents him from spending time with them, which is clearly causing problems for him.
I can tell that he's struggling between doing what's lawful (at least, what the CIA considers lawful) and doing what's right.
That Antoine Lassier is such a Smug Snake. You could tell that Rebecca was making a Deal with the Devil in giving Hard Drive to him in exchange for her son. Good thing she figured out that it wasn't her son, and got Hard Drive away from Antoine before it was too late! It was so worthwhile seeing the look on his face when the scandalous information on him got leaked!
I liked how Giancarlo Rossi had to point out to Rebecca that she's thinking too much like a mother and less like a CIA agent. At least she acknowledged his point and did her best to play it cold. I was certainly impressed out how she climbed up those poles all the way to the French Intelligence offices. Don't try this at home, kids!
It was pretty sad how she managed to get to the airport by motorcycle and found her son, but he got put on a plane and it took off before she could reach him! If she could have gotten that motorcycle over that fence, I bet she could have gotten to him! It was also pretty sad how she pretty much keeled over and let out...let's call it the Mother's Scream. That scream a mother makes when her child is taken away from her, a scream that should not even sound human...but it is.
Oh, and I just remembered something. The show said that there's a lot of things about Rebecca that are not in her file. Who wants to bet that there's something off-the-file that is the cause of her son being kidnapped?
Gosh, wouldn't that be the Shocking Swerve to end all Shocking Swerves?
Unfortunately, it seems that isn't the case here. Rebecca manages to find out that the Russian terrorist group that killed her husband Paul (I think) is apparently responsible for kidnapping Michael.
That still raises a big question: this group managed to successfully kill Paul...didn't they? If Paul was the primary target, why would they even bother with his wife and son? Unless this group wants to wipe out everything he holds dear along with him!
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!
Well, it turns out that I was right to be suspicious about a number of details.
Paul Winstone, Rebecca's husband and fellow CIA agent, is not dead! He's alive and (un)well. Rebecca finds herself wondering if he is responsible for kidnapping Michael. It seems that Paul may be corrupt and a traitor. It does look pretty damning for him. I mean, the guy is supposedly dead for 20 years, and not once did he contact his family, not once. A guy does not stay dead and makes no attempt to contact his family for 20 years without a reason.
Still, it remains to be seen if he is responsible for Michael's kidnapping. Maybe he isn't, but he's connected to it in some other way. Maybe.

Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee! There! I have set up a page for Missing 2012. Please feel free to go there and edit it!
Well, I caught the series finale on DVD. My reaction is basically this:
. It may be a Gainax Ending, thanks to the show being cancelled, but it went out with a bang, didn't it?
One big theme I noticed throughout the show is this: how far would you go to protect and save your kid? For Becca, the answer is "As far as it takes to save my son!" Considering the stuff she did, I personally hope I never have to be put to the test with such a question!
Her plan for Violet was appropriately High Octane Nightmare Fuel. First, she uses pliers (I think) to break all of Violet's fingers. Next, she knocks out all of Violet's teeth with a hammer. Next, she uses a tool to cut her to the bone. Finally, she sticks Violet's feet in water electrified by a car battery. That is hard-core HONF if I ever saw it! None of this will kill Violet, but it will make her wish it did. Now, they do not show how far along Becca got in the torture before Violet told her where to find Michael. They did show her breaking one of Violet's fingers to prove that this is not a bluff. That was a horrific scream there, and horror on Paul's face. Not to mention the fact that Dax was counting on Becca to resort to this.
At least Becca looked shaken and disgusted afterwards. She would have had to be a psychopath not to feel anything about it afterwards. I don't know if it was right or wrong, but at least she got to save her kid. That, and Violet did a number of terrible things and some would say that she had it coming.
Violet and Martin should have known better than to face a Mama Bear.
The ending sure felt out of the blue. I mean, Oksana, Paul, Becca, and Michael are on vacation and enjoying themselves. Becca goes to get their car, straps herself in, and looks as happy as you please. Then the next thing everyone knows, her car smashes into another and they hurry to see what happened. Becca's not there. Her purse is still where she left it. There are some spots of fresh blood, Becca's most likely, on the driver's seat. The windshield is broken, but it's hard to say if that was from the car crash...or some bullets hitting it. Poor Michael can only stand there and yell "MOM!" over and over. ![]()
At the risk of sounding obvious, what happened? Where did she go? It's like she just vanished into thin air! Someone must have snatched her! It's a shame that this Cliffhanger ending will never be resolved...unless a crossover event occurs in Castle.
Oh, Equestria, we stand on guard for thee!

I caught the premiere of this show Missing last night. I think I am interested.
The whole premise is about former CIA agent Rebecca Winstone going Mama Bear over the kidnapping of her son Michael. Still, you can be sure that it won't be easy for her! That says something when you consider that she speaks English, French, and Italian, as well as being as Badass as they come!
The first episode certainly succeeds in raising questions. Who are these people who kidnapped Michael? What do they want? Why have they been keeping an eye on Michael for at least 10 years? Does the Russian terrorist group responsible for Paul Winstone's death have any connection to this?
It's going to be interesting to find out!
