Yes, I remember Pogs.

Ooh, yeah, I'd forgotten about those holographic ones until now!
I know I have a tube full of 'em somewhere. It used to be in my closet, but my closet's a mess, so I don't know if it's still there.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Of course! In my time pogs weren't so big. Until Pokemon Pogs went out. You would get them out of potato chip bags, and then bet them against other little kids. I didnt play so well, but did I ever put my heart into collecting them. My favorite one was a extra-thick gyarados that made it easier to win when playing pogs.
Odd, I was really into Pokemon but don't remember Pokemon pogs...
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Maybe they where just a Mexican thing? Over here they were called "Tazos", but they are basically the same idea only translated and adapted to the pokemon craze.
Ah, the good old times. Back in my day the church/concerned parent hivemind was against the pokemon thing. They were weird hearsay rumors and massive pokemon burnings and all that. Ah, mindless controversy.
....OH SHIT I'M OLD.

Hey, every generation needs a hobby. Back in the day that was my parents' day, Beatles records were the firewood of choice for Moral Guardians.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I think I ended up finding one of those somewhere once, or at least something like one. I didn't really know what it was or what it was for, but it was shiny and looked interesting so I kept it. It was holographic, and I think it might have been Pokemon themed. I think I still have it somewhere.

Hard to explain and to express, forever just a work in progress (he/they)I remember having some, but I don't think I ever played an actual game of pogs. The "slammer" I had is tied to a memorable example of my dad's occasional bouts of Everyone Is Satan in Hell about things I was into when I was growing up - it had a peace sign on one side and a skull and crossbones on the other, and everyone knows a skull and crossbones means poison, so obviously my pog carried the message that "peace is poison".
Also, I occasionally read "prog" (as in Progressive Rock) as "pog". They should have Prog Pogs, with like, Yes album covers on them or something.

As of Page 2, this is now a thread dedicated to fads in general.
Ahahaha, trope names. But seriously, DOES anyone remember Pogs, as in what the hell their purpose was or why people even thought they were worth collecting? I remember that my family and I would collect them way back when they, well, existed, but heck if I know why.
