1:46 District 15
This was unexpected. At the sight of the children, memories surged out of the hidden recesses of Eric's mind. He couldn't name them, nor recite their histories, but he knew them.
The boy was an American. He had been kidnapped and Eric had been sent to recover them. When he had arrived, it had been too late. The boy had been killed, but the killers were not far. He was swift in fulfilling the second half of his contract, and left weighted down with coin and regret.
The girl was different. Killed in a bombing in Vietnam. The perpetrator? Him. He had been trying to get a local magic lord in the open. When he finally drew the man out, Eric had learned that his granddaughter was with him. The car bomb killed them both.
Killing the innocent was what weighed hardest on his soul. He could kill the defenseless, he could kill the weak (albeit more difficultly), but an innocent soul was just that.
Frozen was regret, he tried to step away from the pair. He wanted to tell himself that they weren't real, that his mind was in thrall to the woman that stalked him, but he could not shake the sensation of the boy's grip on his pant leg, nor the sight of the dripping blood from old wounds.
"How cruel" he hissed. Yes, he was afraid. Afraid of his past, and of the lengths this woman would go to harm his mind and soul.
He swallowed heavily. Something had changed now. He could not say they were simple illusions, because they seemed too real. But something very basic rang in Eric's head. They were here to harm him. They were no longer innocent.
Hands shaking, he raised his handgun and fired twice.

The children slumped over, dead again, their rotting brains splattered on the wall. Marz chuckled. "My, how heartless of you."
And how uncooperative. Marz was beginning to get annoyed. This one obviously didn't spook easy. His fear was absolutely sublime, but there was so little. Still, he was afraid. Fighting, but afraid. And she could use that.
More appeared now, turning corners, opening doors, leaking in through every nook and cranny, every crack in the wall. Young, old, man, woman, adult, child. Destroyed memories of burnt over battlefields. The walking dead. And there was an army of them.

The man didn't speak at first. He was trembling but he still had some sense of loyalty to his comrades probably. But the fact that he wasn't speaking meant he knew something. Miruko dropped a rock right beside him. Even though she didn't accelerate it at all, it still got the point across. He talked in a quivering voice, talking faster and faster in case this demon got hungry and decided to eat him.
"I-I have no idea where she is now. Go look for boss. S-she should be somewhere up north or something. I saw her with that girl a few days ago. Wouldn't mistake it because the boss seemed awfully interested in her."
"Right, thank you, go to sleep now. Let's go Kyou. We're heading north."

He could run now. The threat of violent death (or whatever these apparitions could do to him) was overbearing. They reminded Eric of the classic movie zombie, shambling and moaning.
He had killed zombies before though. Of course, they were the voodoo kind, in thrall to a witch doctor in the Caribbean.
Not that any of that mattered now. He tried to run back the way he had come, only to be blocked by a horde of the things. He didn't have enough ammo to deal with them all. He fired a single shot, sending one back to the abyss that spawned it before sprinting further into the building.
Dodging the horde of the dead, he found himself at the foot of a stair leading up. He turned and fired two shots. It wouldn't slow them down, but he had to at least give the impression of fighting. Appearances had to be kept. Then he ascending, leaping two steps at a time.

More gunshots rang out, noise Marz made sure never reached the outside. She couldn't have anyone interrupting.
Surprisingly, even the zombies that weren't killed with headshots stayed down. Dead. Marz even made sure Eric's gun didn't run out of bullets. It almost seemed like she wasn't trying to kill him at all. After all, just killing him wasn't the point. No, the point was to make him afraid. Afraid of her. And that fear, that would be what tore him apart.

"Nn! Let's go, Kumiko-kun!" Touka responded cheerfully and didn't hesitate to hurry inside first. He was actually getting more excited about the ice cream than about hanging out with such a pretty, but androgenous person. Still, he waited for Kumiko to enter before even considering something to order.
"Why don't you pick something for both of us? I think that you have good taste, Kumiko-kun," the trap suggested, really enjoying being able to use the biker's name.

Touka's eyes went wide like saucers at the suggestion, and he nodded excitedly. This biker sure had some good ideas about ice cream!
"Yes. You have great taste, that sounds wonderful," Touka replied.

The thought that had just occured to him was, "I think you should find a girl who likes ice cream a lot, that way you'd always have a place to go on a date."

Not long afterwards the ice cream had been produced and was in hand, the shorter trap eagerly awaiting his. He wasn't really sure what to say back to the biker at first. To think that he'd spend the afternoon eating ice cream with someone he'd just met. Weirder things had happened, of course.
"More likely to happen for you than me. Everybody thinks I'm just some little kid or something," he remarked at last with a bit of a pout.

Something was very wrong. It took more effort to kill a child than to kill these things, yet wherever Eric ran, there was already twenty more waiting for them. He lost count of how many magazines he had fired at this point, and his path was marked by a trail of brass shell casings.
He needed to escape. Running upstairs was stupid, but it had seemed like a good idea at the time. As he ran through empty rooms, evading and sometimes killing the soulless things that stalked him, he realized he only had once choice. He had to jump out a window.
He fought his way to one of the buildings supporting walls. As if Fate itself was mocking him, not a single window was in sight. Behind him, Eric heard the moans of the things that were after him. He ran down the hall, searching for even a single window. After rounding a corner, he saw it. Forty of the things were in his way, clogging the hallway with their bodies.

Instantly making a kind of connection between the two things the biker had said, Touka grinned dumbly and blushed. Was Kumiko admitting a liking for him? He'd kind of thought it would be worth giving that hope up, but you never knew. No, he should just be friends with the biker first. Safer that way. Definitely less akward.
"Y-you like me? I.. um.." Touka managed before having a couple of spoonfuls to clear his mind, "Kind of get that feeling myself.. I can't place it though."

Marz bit her finger in frustration. This one would not give up! Sure, he was just running now, but...
She frowned. If she wanted to crush his spirit, something a little more... personal may be in order. The hallway zombies stopped in their tracks, and collapsed into a cloud of black dust. Like they'd just been pieces of charcoal. And at the end of the hallway stood Marz herself, in plain view. This was a gamble...

Eric stopped in his tracks when the woman appeared at the far end of the hall. He stopped running and stared at her for a moment.
"Ahh, the witch shows herself. Come to finish me off?"

Touka finished his ice cream as well, smiling at how much the biker apparently liked the products at the place. Yet that just raised the question of what they would do now. Probably go their separate ways, though at least Touka had some idea of how to contact Kumiko if need be. Not that Touka had any plans for the rest of the day.
"Can I ask you something, Kumiko-kun?" he asked as they stepped out of the ice cream parlor. Without waiting for an answer, he asked, "Do you think anyone would ever want to go out with me? I mean, you seem like a cool person, so you might know. Probably I just look too young, or am boring, or just too small.."

"Just," Harumi began, "... there's a lot I have to deal with before I can answer that." Her thoughts dwindled back to the class of children, unconscious for years. "I'm sorry..."
The computer didn't reply immediately, an awkward pause filled the air. Michelle glanced between Harumi and the computer a few times, unsure what to do or say, if anything.
"I understand. It is your decision. Michelle-kun, please pack the computer and leave Ms. Kiyama to finish her recovery."
"Huh, uhh, right," Michelle said, blinking twice, before she moved to pick up the computer and leave. Michelle paused at the door and looked over her shoulder at the resting patient. The two made eye contact, Michelle's eyes narrowed as if trying to phrase a difficult question. The moment itself lasted just long enough that one would begin to think "I should ask if something is troubling that person," but not long enough to actually ask the question. Before Harumi could ask, Michelle was out the door.

Before Michelle returned to the apartment in District 8, Michelle received a call on the cell phone the Professor had given her. After fumbling with it for a good deal longer than a few moments, she finally got it open.
"Hello?"
"Michelle-kun, it's me," the Professor said on the other end, "It is a pity we couldn't convince Kiyama Harumi to help us, however we have other options. I would like for you to take the computer to a certain location, I will send you the information over this phone."
With that the Professor hung up. Moments later the phone started vibrating, and making noise, and the words "NEW TEXT MESSAGE" came up on the screen. Michelle glared at the phone annoyedly for a while, before beginning her latest struggle with the technology the Professor was making her use.

A pretty boy or masculine girl thought Touka was cute! Words couldn't describe just how pleased that had made the trap. He just blushed a good amount and smiled in pleasant surprise that he'd been told such a thing. Such a nice biker!
"Thanks, Kumi-kun.." Touka responded, unintentionally shortening the biker's name before asking, "So what do you want to do now?"

The ride over had been short but exhilirating for Touka, who'd grabbed hold of Kumiko tightly so he wouldn't fall off. Now that they'd arrived he slipped off the bike and nodded in confirmation. This was definitely the place, and as a bonus it only had a couple of customers at the moment.
"Definitely.. nice.. ehe.. nice driving," he commented, then pointed to an image of a hot fudge sundae, "They make the best of these in town! But they're tucked away here so they don't get as much business.. that and they don't have a staff of cute girls working there, so they don't get as many guys coming in."
He paused before asking, "Is it okay to call you Kumiko-kun?"
