Speaking of Shredder's appearance, it wasn't really "out there" either, because it worked in live action. That costume, combined with the acting made the 1990 movie Shredder truly menacing.
I also want to point out that Ninja Turtles was originally just going to be one issue, so of course they killed off the villain, there was never going to be an issue two. But then the comic sold and sold, so they decided to make more, and after a wile they regretted killing Shredder, cuz he was great, so they brought him back.

Well it was more of a "sort of" comeback through a worm cluster monster, the real deal stayed dead
Prettiest Meta Knight Gijinka, nglThis is my story when it comes to Rise as well. I only just started watching it, because little by little, I heard how over the top it was, and when I found out it got a movie, I finally decided to give it a look.

Technically. At the time, he was treated as the real Shredder, despite the worm stuff. He had Shredder's memories, personality, and looked exactly like him. When the turtles confronted him, they acted like they were finally putting an end to their nemesis, not just dealing with an imposter.
It was only in later years that they seemed to change their mind about this and say that the real Shredder never came back after the first issue.
I just watched episode 10 of Rise.
Our heroes save the day by singing so badly, an evil robot army commits suicide.
Also, it dawns on me that Raphael's burlier design might be a nod to the Bay-Turtles.
Which is a brave move, honestly, considering they're the Bay-Turtles (though I actually kinda liked Out of the Shadows).
....think we'll ever see an 86/03/12/Rise crossover.
Obviously, we have Turtles Forever, and the 2012 series crossed over with the original series as well, but bringing all four together would be interesting....or a repeat of Turtles Forever.
One Strip! One Strip!4kids back in the 2000s were strict on having local new york talent voice for all their shows. It's what caused the Sonic cast to get recast.
In the current year, people are much more willing to let someone record from another state. Wayne Grayson and Greg Abbey have been in mostly LA-based cartoons.

I generally prefer my Turtles on the smaller side, like they are in most incarnations. But I'm fine with Raph in Rise being so much bulkier than the other three, because it fits his character as a Papa Wolf elder brother. In the Roninverse there is a similar clear difference in size and shape with the new generation of Turtles, with Odyn being a huge bulky snapping turtle and Uno looking like an albino-version of Leo in Rise.
I've seen some fan-made screenshots for a hypothetical crossover between 1987 and Rise. Looks pretty nice and I could see the styles of these shows meshing very well together.
If there is a crossover featuring the 2003 team, then I have a feeling that they might get a similar treatment as the 1987 Turtles got in Turtles Forever. I'm talking a general Flanderization of the tone and style of their show, taking the piss out of that show's Darker and Edgier moments and digs at them "trying too hard" on that front. Raph especially might get called out on it, like he kept badgering the 1987 Turtles, until the Mirage Turtles put him at his place. I could see Raph from Rise take offense at how angry and abrasive 2003-Raph can be, especially when he does so towards his Mikey. Rise-Raph might even take 2003-Michaelangelo under his wing.
That's interesting, because once both the 1987 Turtles and the 2003 Turtles met the original comic book turtles, it became clear that, rather than being the Darker and Edgier Turtles, the 2003 group were more of a middle ground (they may have been closer to the original comics than their predecessors, but they still had the multi-coloured bandanas, and some pretty silly adventures themselves).
Kinda like how Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans revealed that the 2003 Titans were more of a middle ground between Go and the actual Darker and Edgier Titans of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies verse.
Them being seen as posers by later versions would certainly be a twist.
Huh. It'd be really interesting if the 87 Turtles references their meetings with the 2003 and 2012 versions (and the other two sides also remembered, leaving the Rise Turtles as the ones unused to multiverse shenanigans).
One Strip! One Strip!Fair enough. I completely lost track of 2012, so I actually didn't know how that crossover with their 87 counterparts went down, only that it happened in the first place.

Funnily enough Krang Subprime lampshaded that was a bonehedead idea of both Shredder and Krang unlike 2003 being deliberate about it

Prettiest Meta Knight Gijinka, nglThe whole 2003 series is on Paramount+, so no, there isn't anything blocking a release.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonNot to mention, they used 2k3 Leonardo in the Paramount+ promotions, and recently released a full series
set for the 2K3 series.
Good to see the show finally get a proper release.
According to the What Could Have Been for Rise, the original plan for hypothetical seasons 3 and 4 would have featured first the Krang as main villains, followed by the Rat King. We got the Krang in the movie, but I can't help but be curious about Rise's take on the Rat King. With the bigger focus on mysticism, I think he could have been like the version seen in the IDW comic, a godlike Trickster Archetype, out to cause havoc out of boredom.
Rat King was also going to be the Big Bad of Mutant Mayhem according to a leaked animatic. He hasn't had much luck in adaptations recently, it seems.

Assuming it's not The Burglar, Spider-Man's nemesis would be Chameleon.
Fantastic Four, Mole Man.
Thor, Stone Men from Saturn.
Iron man needed a WHILE to get anything resembling a decent villain.
