I think we can call it pretty safely and move on to choosing a name.

I ran a unanimous crowner and made a rename in under six hours once, but that was special circumstances which no longer apply.

The crowner is very decisive and it's been almost three days. With a vote of 27 to 0 I'm going to call this.

But of course we still need the alt-titles crowner, which I made here with the options of this thread.

By the way, can moderators still attach "New Crowner <date>" to the thread's title? I've seen that the filter isn't broken by adding a few words outside of the original string.

When they see the letter Y, I don't think most people are going to associate that with a chromosome.

For example, it could refer to Generation Y, shorthand for "why", Y The Last Man, YMCA (often called "the Y"), or even Yttrium for chemistry geeks. "Extra Y" could mean lots of different things.

But there is no thing that could substitute for the letter Y other than "Y chromosome".

Also, I downvoted anything with "XYY" since it can happen with XYYY, XYYYY etc. as well.

"Violent", not "Dangerous", since the latter term is wider than the trope and its biological basis.

"Extra Y" and "X Why Why" are about the chromosomes, not the trope.

[up] Precisely. So let's include the word "chromosome" since that's what we're talking about. Clear concise witty, emphasis on "clear".

As much as I hate to upvote Extra Y Chromosome Extra Violent, were I to see the title Extra Y, Extra Violent, I'd assume it was a trope for violent characters with names like Wyllyam and Rychard.

It is if the name is Rychard instead of Richard. 0+1=1. You can always have more than less.

When we call the crowner (yes, I know it's too early), we can make the other non-winning options in green redirects to the chosen name, right?

I don't think Predatory Male Genotype should be a redirect. It seems broader than the trope actually is.

Yeah. That one's too wide. And I see it's in red now.

Yeah, I'm in favor of ending the crowner as well.

Too early for crowner call, methinks. The top two options are only 2 votes apart from each other.

That said, if the crowner is called, I think I can do the rename.

While I support a rename on the grounds that just having three letters strung together (technically not an acronym, but close enough) is fairly meaningless, I really wonder if this trope is common enough that it will ever get heavy use.

Calling the crowner at

+10 (yeas:19 nays:9) 2.11 : 1 Extra Y, Extra Violent

+4 (yeas:11 nays:7) 1.57 : 1 Extra Y Chromosome Extra Violent

All other options are in the negatives.

Make Extra Y, Extra Violent the main name; add Extra Y Chromosome Extra Violent as a searchable redirect.

I moved XYY and all its wicks to Extra Y, Extra Violent, made Extra Y Chromosome Extra Violent a redirect to it and updated Renamed Tropes and the FAQ thread

Unless the description needs further tweaking, we should be done here with no discussion to move.
