I actually already knew about this. Still, it's nice to know we're actually taking action.
Africa has major issues.... and I'm happy to see we are tackling one that makes complete sense to tackle for once.
EDIT:And it just popped up on my facebook. Yup, this thing is going viral.
EDIT 2:It popped up on my High School classes facebook page. And everyone is reposting it. This thing is going to get almost memetic at this rate.

Bet you didn't see that comingLRA...Lord's Resist-
...ah, that guy. Now I get it.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Nice to see the more popular side of the new media catching up for once. How would the actual apprehension be done, though? It's apparently been tried quite a few times, and ended up slaughtering a squad of Guatemalan special ops chaps on one occasion.
Still, lovely to see awareness.
Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science. There are reasons why an abomination such as the LRA arose in central Africa and not in Iceland or in Switzerland. Taking care of the "Kony problem", while a laudable objective, does not address these issues; and while I certainly agree with the idea of trying to get a serious military initiative going in order to take care of that person*, I think that we should also push for some serious effort in dealing with the underlying causes. Otherwise, we'll just end up with a Kony v2.0, and pretty quickly too.
But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas. Some info on the group
I haven't independently verified or sourced this so as with everything take it with a grain of salt.
It's arguable that there was no Afghan Nation to build on in the academic sense of the word. It's hard ot create a nation ex nihilo from the outside.
Obligatory self promotion: http://unemployedacademic.tumblr.com/It's a different situation, but the principle is the same. It's an impoverished, fractured third-world nation with a massing guerrilla army. The only nation with the willingness and resources to probably pull it off (The US) is on the verge of total bankruptcy. The best bet would be some kind of NATO or UN Military Coalition, with the US as advisers or something.

Kony is undoubtedly a horrible person, who needs to be brought to justice.
Invisible Children are not really the ones to be doing it, though - and I've seen news reports over the past few years, here and there, talking about how questionable the organisation is. So it's not like this guy's post is made up, or something.
Invisible Children are advocating military action against Kony, while supporting the Uganda military (and others) that act like "rape and pillage" is a perfectly valid, legal military tactic. Giving Invisible Children your money and your support is a very, very questionable thing.
Wanting to get Kony taken down is perfectly reasonable, but wanting to support this organisation's campaign... if you inform yourself of the issues and decide it's the best option, go for it. But I have trouble offering my support to any organisation that defends militaries known for the raping of entire villages.

No organization is perfect, it seems, and nothing should be taken at face value.
Know about Kony, and spread the word, because it's important to know what's going on in the world. But be careful about who you specifically support in all this. We'll see what happens.
Flora Segunda | World Made By Hand | Monster Blood Tattoo ^You should read these series. It's spreading like wildfire. And of course, there are already people complaining about how it detracts from other problems in the world. Which I suppose is fair in a way, but right now, I'm just amazed that it's exploded to this extent. Still, it's depressing to think that this might just be another one of those things that never goes anywhere, or that we might look back on this in a few years and wonder who the hell this Kony guy was.
This is an obscure reference to a show you don't watch.

I'm deeply bothered that we want to make him "famous" and not "infamous."
