I've heard of bologna and baloney, but never boloney.

I think a boloney comes from a snake with legs.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.

[up][up]That's what I said to Autumncomet! (We go to the same school) I think I'm going to need to talk to her in person to clear this up.

It was still funny, though.

Wikipedia says they're all valid spellings, but that doesn't make "boloney" any less wrong.

I have an official answer! They were on a major stairway on campus (it makes sense in context) handing out the proper full-color version, the official release. And I asked the editor-in-chief, who was my CA (aka RA at most schools) last year so I'm on good terms with her, why they spelled it that way.

Simple: It looks slightly more like "Kony" with the "o" in it. Which I guess is true, though I think the confusion it's causing isn't worth it when people would have gotten the joke just fine with the normal spelling.

Well, think of it as a portmanteau of "bologna" and "baloney" if it helps. [lol]

On my way home from school one day, I saw a single Kony poster on a street sign. It goes to show how much the movement has fallen since it started.

Meanwhile, in the Central African Republic.

"Central African Republic soldiers largely conduct security operations in and around the town, while Ugandan soldiers, who have been in the country since 2010, conduct longer-range patrols looking for Kony and his men.

Since January, they have killed seven LRA fighters in the area and captured one, while rescuing 15 people abducted by the group including five children, said their local commander, Col. Joseph Balikuddembe.

There has been no contact with the LRA since March, however, according to Ugandan Army spokesman Col. Felix Kulayigye, who said the LRA now is in survival mode. The LRA is thought to today number only around 150 to 300 die-hard fighters."

Some dude I know was waving around an NYT article on FB like it was proof Kony 2012 worked, never mind that the only change wrought mentioned in the article was that the general in charge of a four year old operation has a new door ornament.

He was really freaking assholish when I got critical, especially about the problems with the campaign. People like me "keep harping on the same old points" because they have yet to be addressed!

Guh. Every time I run into a Social Justice Crusader they manage to make the name of their cause leave a bad taste in my mouth these days. I seem to be on the verge of skipping my brainless 20's and going straight to my heartless 40's.

And you know what? I'M STILL ANNOYED THAT THEY DIDN'T USE THE WORD INFAMOUS!

If the mission of the forces there is population security, though, you do have to wonder if the "LRA" they killed or captured are actual LRA fighters operating under Kony's organization, or splitaway bandits with child soldiers, of which there are no shortage of in Africa.

Meanwhile, again.

The Ugandan army said it caught Caesar Achellam, one of the top five members of the Lord's Resistance Army, a major general in Kony's outfit of about 200 fighters, in an ambush along the banks of the River Mbou in Central African Republic (CAR) on Saturday.
