No Lustiness No Prudishness?

"Lusty" doesn't mean pervy, at least not primarily. It's more like "enthusiastic" or "in good shape".

And Lustiness as a word sounds a bit more like "don't talk about things you like."

The problem isn't how people feel about the things they're writing about but how they talk about it. No Lustfulness No Prudishness sounds too much like it's about the former.

We can mention things that turn people on. A person can mention something that turns them on. We just want people to stick to the facts when they do so.

[up][up] And "perversity" sounds like don't talk about things other people might not like.

I still think that's a terrible word to use to shape a user policy.

Actually, perhaps the message we should try to get across is that being a creep is no better than being a dick.

Makes sense. So, "Don't be a creep"?. Is "creep" just as usable as "dick"?

ETA: Given the troubles with Fetish Fuel and Troper Tales, if your idea is to make "Don't be a creep" a rule with equal footing to "Don't be a dick", i.e Administrative Policy-level, be my guest.

"Don't be a dick" is the super-rule of this site - see The Troping Code.

Meh. A "rule to prevent having rules" just seems......cute.

To prevent people from saying "but this is not what that rule means...", AKA Rules Lawyering. It's been discussed over and over. It's a super-rule, since everything else can be taken from it and there's no need to have additional ones then.

Right. But Rules Lawyering works both ways. Sure, you prevent people from saying Aint No Law, but you also get the people who claim Oughta Be A Law claiming that there IS a law.

For example, the sudden declaration that memes must be X weeks old before inclusion on a YMMV page. It was posted on Mass Effect 3 as if it existed, but when I asked about it in the TRS thread, no one seems to know anything about any such rule.

In the end, you still end up having to make a rule one way or another.

That's what moderators and common sense are for - to read a rule in the specific case, just like judges in courts.

And that specific meme-rule seems to be made-up, but it's not really the topic of this thread - let's leave it in the TRS one.

That means we use one as the primary title and the other as a redirect. Simple.

The top one has a better ratio and higher total. I say we go with it and call this. It's been long enough.

I know it's well under 2:1, but can Dont Be Creepy be a redirect? It's concise, and I've used it on at least two edit reasons I can recall.

Should we launch Dont Be Creepy into No Lewdness, No Prudishness now?

I'd say use No Lewdness or No Perversity as edit reasons rather than Dont Be Creepy. It kinda defeats the purpose of choosing a non-confrontational name if people are still using the name we rejected as too confrontational.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.
