Embarassing crap on the wiki

I came across this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feFHnIhJtG4 ,which is a well-deserved mockery of a page that makes all tropers look like pervs. Please, I'm begging you, if we have any more crap like this around wiki, please cut list it.

That is all it takes. Just put it on the Cut List.

Yeah, I remember when that page was made and it was no where near that level of bad. I am always bothered by how creepy some of our editors can get even on things that aren't supposed to be about sexuality. It was supposed to be documenting an old school trope that led to things like the coppertone girl. Not creepy pedo stuff.

Should we axe Panty Shot as well? I mean, I'm no prude, but some of the examples on that page can get rather skeevy, if you know what I mean...

shimaspawn came up with the idea of locking all these after a cleanup, requiring new edits to go through a mod.

I cleaned out and locked Panty Shot.

Some tropes, especially Fanservice tropes, are basically feeding grounds for that kind of fetish behavior. Innocent Panties in theory seems like a semi-decent trope indicating different standards depending on the age of a character, but spending a paragraph or two describing when it happens and including a photo collage well... it ceases to appear innocent.

Going right down the fanservice list would be a good way to organize this clean-n—lock project.

I think there was a trope there, but from the look of it, it had decayed into some really creepy places. I am going through the fanservice index and cleaning pages. I'm going to lock the ones that are actually bad. Some of them just don't seem to get that level of creepy to them. If you find creepy pages, PM and I'll add them to my list of fixing up.

Quick comment: This exact issue (cutting Panty Shot examples) was brought up months ago in the TRS and was largely ignored, then revived, then locked. Similar threads about cleaning up fanservice tropes were also locked. I remember Panty Shots being just as bad then as it was before the wipe; the only difference was publicity. I'm very happy the page was wiped, but I wish it didn't take someone making fun of the site to get things fixed.

Anyway, it's done and done for the best. I'm off to cutlist Underboobs and Sideboob. Lord knows they need it.

Once again, I'm going and cleaning up and locking the worst offenders so they can't get bad again. I'll add those two to the list.

Panty Shot was cleaned up, trying to avoid the things that killed Innocent Panties. The person who brought it up wanted to cut the trope outright, which was deemed unnecessary and the examples even before it got to TRS were not anywhere near the same level of perversion.

Sometimes these kind of responses are kneejerk reactions and will be forgotten two weeks later, other times it is about seeing what kind of influence you are having and taking steps to correct that. I personally am not fond of the dozen or so different cleavage and breast tropes (Underboobs, Side Boob, Big Bra to Fill) and I overall approve of this new direction.

Looks like that prior TRS got shut down because of a thinly-disguised Goon ranting the goon party line while people were trying to look at the actual issues. Being more interested in calling people names, it got sidetracked into a lot irrelevancies.

Someone let SA know their "look don't touch" policy is in tatters. Again.

^^ In fairness, that was Yeah Bro's sockpuppet again, and he turned out not to be a goon at the time (he's one now though).

I'm working on cleaning up the examples to the point where all the damn gushing is gone. It's amazing how much less disturbing pages can be when you're not describing things as if you're fapping to them.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this thread. When these abominable pages get cutlisted, it would be great if we could easily kill the wicks after the fact—right now that is quite difficult due to the cut pages' wicks bug.

We're not cutting them. I'm cleaning and locking them. Not the same thing. A lot of these are valid tropes. Tropers just don't seem to be able to be trusted with adding examples.

I don't go on the wiki too much, but I'll make sure to respond to any embarrassing stuff. There will always be pages for "sexy tropes", but some examples are written in the most pervy way possible and need clean up.

Exactly. I'm cleaning up the pervy bits so that we don't have to cut valid tropes. The issue isn't the tropes themselves but how the examples are written.
