It's one of my favorite gameovers. Because it's just so...wow. That game can be unnerving in general though.
But honestly that's a series trait. I mean we've got supposedly well meaning genocides (Myria's kind of a bitch in 1 so whether she actually means well is up to debate; I personally like to think she did while still being a bitch) and nukes made from people who are tortured to insanity...

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI never got to 100%, I was too nervous about losing all my progress. I barely used the dragon upgrade at all. I beat Bosch's dad without it, and that was the first time I encountered him.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.fun Fact: Apparently, Breath Of Fire is the only franchise to never make it to any Capcom Vs Whatever crossover, EVER. That is, if you don't count Pocket Fighters (I forget the American name), where some characters appear in the background. And that's pretty much it.
As I stated earlier, this is due to an alleged conflict with Square Enix, that and Capcom, being Capcom, gives not a fuck. At this point, I wish Konami was in charge of this franchise.
iirc, bof4 was, according to hardcoregaming101 (not exactly trustworthy in this case, what with the obvious bias the writer had towards the game, but whatever) designed to appeal to the ff7 crowd and possibly sold more than any of the other games in the series.
given how much i hear about 4, it seems like that would be true. if thats the case, then its obvious why its the capcom fav
Wouldn't surprise me. After all it got a (Horrid) PC port. And I'm given to understand it sold relatively well, compared to previous iterations.
Don't want to sound like a Hipster, but I sort of like the series' more as an obscure Cult Classic, rather than a mainstream RPG.
Its just a random thought, what I mean is that I prefer the series' like it is, no more games, nothing, relatively obscure. Because it's already been as good as it can be, and we all know how Capcom treats their successful franchises. It's better off being less well known.

^That more or less. Or if Capcom was once again a company I could trust to provide something I found entertaining. Which it hasn't been for years save for Ace Attorney games. The rest can burn. Especially Megaman.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan Chahor because he popular /assumption
or because hes a sephiroth expy so it seems like the most logical choice to put in.
Fou-Lu and Sephiroth are both white haired pretty boys, but aside from that they have very little in common. You might as well say they're both Ghaleon expies.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back. You could argue that they both have god complexes I guess, but Fou Lu's is justified in that he is a god. In fact he's half of THE god. He's also a very, very pissed off god because people are trying to kill him and his one friend was used as literal cannon fodder...So really it doesn't fit at all!
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahI'd have to agree, Fou-Lu doesn't share anything with Sephiroth other than a few superficial similarities - both are a White Long-Haired Pretty Boy, and both are antagonists.
Personally, my absolute favorite is III, and it probably ranks up there as one of my favorite RPGs, period, too. IV was good, but not as good. I didn't play V because the whole "starting over" mechanic sounded frustrating. I may give it a go sometime.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I didn't find it frustrating but that's how I play games a lot of the time. If I leave it be for more than a week or if I get stuck and frustrated I restart. So if anything it was rewarding me for what I do normally...

If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahHey good to see a Breath of Fire thread here. Anyway I'm currently working on a Youtube series called "Breath of Fire Remixed" where the first game has 4's soundtrack. I think it's turning out well so far.
Playlist link (4 videos done so far)
I also recently finished another series in the same vein, but with 3's soundtrack added to 2 here.
Just wanted to share with you guys. This series totally needs a new entry.

If you know what you're doing, you don't really ever have to start Dragon Quarter over from the beginning. You may have to jump back a save point or two, but it's controlled and you'd only do that to abuse the loophole in the game's Anti-Grinding formula. It's just that the game is dull regardless.
I'd really like to give III and IV a try, but they're not exactly easy to find or emulate...

i think the furthest i got in dragon quarter was, on the 5th repetition, i fought bosch a second time, and then after that there was a string of bosses that just seemed outright impossible without the dragon form.
i just barely made it to a save point before 100%
