I was just on the page for The Starfighters when it occurred to me how clunky it is to have the tropes from the MST 3 K episode shoved at the bottom of the page. Or perhaps simply a Recap page for the series.

Recap pages should serve nicely.

It's not really okay for a work page to list tropes from a completely unrelated program that happened to MST it.

Yeah, make recap pages, and then link to them in the actual film pages.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

[up] No, a film page shouldn't link to reviews of a film.

You think those are reviews?

Well, you know, whatever they are. MSTs, Let's Plays, reviews, that sort of thing in general.

Would it count as a fanwork rec?

I don't see why tropes from MST 3 K need to be listed on any other page than that of the show itself. If people read a page about a movie, presumably they want to see a list of the tropes in that movie, not the tropes in its MST 3 K episode.

[up]Most of us are agreeing with that. We're going to make episode pages, move the tropes, and then give a line that says something like "Covered in Mystery Science Theater 3000 in [[EpisodeLink this episode]]."

Huh? The work that's being done shouldn't have any MST 3000 tropes on it. Are you saying you're resorting how the MST 3000 pages are organized? I'd like a few less pronouns please.

I think the reason the movies have tropes from MST 3 K episodes on them is because no one would know or care about most MS Ted movies, especially the worse ones, beyond their being an MST 3 K episode, or at least that's the mindset going into that.

Which is wrong, the movies should have their own tropes, the fan work (which is what that is) based on that has its own page.

I agree. Again, we make the pages as episode recaps, and just have a line in the movie descriptions that link to the episode page.

Has any of this been done yet? I still see movie pages with a seperate MST 3 K trope section at the end, not to mention cases where MST references creep into the main trope section. Gotta love the passion of the MST-ies.

I probably won't be that good at any long in-depth descriptions, but I can start making the Recap pages by copy/pasting the tropes from the film pages and add some small info on what the episodes about.

Should I make it as Mystery Science Theater 3000 S 1 E 1 The Crawling Eye (and so on for the rest)?

[up]Since they're basically like reviews (well, they're not, but for these purposes), I'd say generally no.

They can still be quotes on the actual Recap page though.

Alright, I've copy/pasted the three tropes from the MST 3 K section of Women Of The Prehistoric Planet, and added the line "For the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode see here."

I'd go into more detail on the Recap page for summary, but I am familiar with neither works.

To be honest, I don't think (usually, at least) there's much point in adding any MST 3 K info outside of "for the episode see here". MST 3 K is, at the end of the day, still a fan work that was made later and the page for a film it mocked shouldn't go on about it.
