LIVE! I COMMAND THIS TOPIC TO LIIIIVE!
I am looking forward to this game. I would like to see what impact the races have on gameplay. Obviously, humans will be in it, but I like the Avians and Apex. I really want to make an Apex science officer... I also hope there will be some sort of cat race, like in the wallpaper. EDIT: Are any of you organizing groups to play in? Because I would be interested in playing with a group.

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI remember their original target was late summer. They have two factions that we know of, procedural weapons, lighting, water, I would go out on a limb and say they they have the armor and shields done as well, and some of the environments.
There is a chance they could release it around Christmas time, before Christmas, or after it. Or early next year.
Maybe if someone can find a sum total of the work they have completed somewhere we can figure out a more reliable speculative time frame.
Who watches the watchmen?I would like to know how resource gathering works. I doubt you move from dirt to metal, like in Terraria. Maybe you find natural resources, sell them and buy them.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenOne of the things I did not like in Terraria was how hard it was to get more advanced materials, and to make a good looking building, it either required ridiculous crafting and placement and/or lots of materials. If people are coming off of some sort of colony ship, unless it is crash landing, I don't want to live in a wood hut.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI really like what I have seen of the combat system. I predict I will prefer to use a shield and gun shock trooper approach, though dual wielding looks fun. It will be interesting counterbalancing two-handed weapons with dual weapons.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenMaybe? If you can remember the name or some characteristic of the game it might help.
Offtopic: Spooky, have you checked Steam Greenlight
, there are some games that are already in Desura there (not Unepic thoguh). To not derrail this topic any more I invite you to the Greenlight thread
in the forum if you want to disscus it.
Edit: You ninjaed the name before I replied

Yeah, you ninjaed me in there also
That Edge Of Space game is really elusive, the only thing I could find about it is the kickstarter page and articles speaking of the kickstarter. Following one of the videos from the kickstarter page lead me to the Steam Greenlight page
for that game but the game seems to lack any homepage or anything to get information about it easily.
Check better :P
Well, okay, I found that because I checked update page so its not actually surprising you didn't find it..
Really though, you are most likely to find most information on kickstarter update pages.

To me, Edge of Space does not look as interesting. I don't like the visual style, but on the upside, it is coming out much sooner.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenDouble post, sorry, but I thought I should point out that a very big story is planned, so it won't be like Terraria in that respect. So it won't be as 'Sandbox' as Terraria and Minecraft.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenIt will have strong sand box elemetns. I recall from the FAQs that you are not iron bound to the story line but it will likely be a key driving point for player activities.
I did a little digging in the forum I need to double check the FAQ's though but it seems the game will utilize a "blue print sytem" as well as building system similar to terraria. There will be gathering of resources to build your stuff of course. The exact details have not been fully laid out.
They have a lot of stuff to lay out before the game is ready including that story line. The general goal was one year from start to first round of ready to play. However they are more then willing to go over the rough target to make sure they get it right.
Good news from multiplayer. They state the game runs decently on even older machines in MP.

Who watches the watchmen?Ok rereading faqs. There will be lots of mining and going underground. There will be management of cities and the space station. There is a UFO attached to the home world that allows you move NPCS and do large scale terraforming.
Confirmed block by block building and what appears to be prefabbed special purpose facilities.
Planets have threat levels ranging from 1-100 100 being always difficult.
Crafting knowledge is likely a mix of stuff you know, stuff npcs know, and finding blue prints and the like.
There will be a research option for gear.
Varying tiers of crafting depending on where you are working from.
Planets can be infinite but they may place limits on overall planet sizes.
No magic all scifi stuff.
Plans for mission editor and hopefully mod support post release.
Strong focus on MP and coop game play.
Procedural generation plays a huge role in the game. From gear, to NPC's, Enemies, to planets.
The general report is MP is smooth gameplay is solid and they are in a phase of tweaking and adding until they are ready. They hit the one year mark roughly this winter.
Who watches the watchmen?

Haven't heard about this game in a while. Have they released any info about how exactly you get to customize your homebase? That's kind of the biggest draw for me about this game right now.
