Winter. Winter in Gensokyo was really what you could expect from winter anywhere in Japan. Slow, snowy, and cold. Here and there, young yokai played in the snow. Fairies frolicked across the countryside, hurling snowballs at each other as the flew along, and in the human village children did much the same. Sometimes they were occasionally even joined by a yokai of similar appearance and behavior. It wasn't like they were that shadow yokai girl(and even with they were, it's not like she was actually dangerous). In any case, winter was slower then normal in the Eastern Wonderland, but not without activity completely.

In one of the more extreme cases of this slowing down, was the Perfect and Ordinary Witch.

Kirisame Marisa, during the warmer months, would've been out and moving. But now...? She lay in bed. Far later then she would've been on a summer day. She was asleep, blankets disheveled and hanging off the bed, her loose bedclothes hanging partway off of her entire body. This meant, of course, that she didn't notice the new item that had been placed on her desk(after the aforementioned desk had been cleared a bit).

It's likely she would upon awakening.

ALICE
Much like Marisa, Alice had opted to retreat into her bedroom and then warmth. Unlike Marisa, this didn't mean that she had stopped working, far from it. She had a supply of dolls to replenish and maintain, a meal to cook, and books to read. The last of these was being done whilst buried mostly under the covers... as, come to think of it, were the rest. She may not have gotten out of bed that day but the youkai magician's ability to multitask with her dolls more than made up for it.

Really, she was probably the only person in Gensokyo that hadn't let their normal schedule be unduly impacted by the cold apart from the winter youkai and those incapable of going anywhere much warmer. Though it seemed to have made her at least slightly unobservant, the rather obtrusive shape on her bookshelf had yet to be noticed.

SAKUYA
The Perfect and Elegant Maid sighed, looking at the chaos that had been unleashed in the library. Of all the places that their gate guard could have gone to avoid the cold outside of the mansion's walls, she chose the library. Naturally, the only warm part of the vast network of echoing chambers was where Patchouli and Koakuma lived. Of course, Meiling had made a beeline for that and... been struck by a spell by a sleeping magician, almost on reflex.

And now she was tasked with looking after yet another child. Fortunately, Flandre appeared to be content for the moment and Lady Remilia was... well, seemingly extremely amused by events. There was just one problem: how was she meant to deal with Meiling? Also, should cleaning the library be left to the devil girl?

Hidden amongst the mess was something unexpected...

MOMIJI
Having gotten rather a lot of free days due to treacherous terrain, reducing the number of methods of approaching the mountain and therefore the number of necessary patrols, Momiji had gone looking for a kappa willing to play Dai-Shogi with her. When it turned out that they were all busy at the hot springs for some reason, the white wolf tengu had headed straight back home and sat on the floor reading, not really noticing the chill. The mountain was always cold and she was nearly always outside in breezy clothes, so why would she care about the weather?

When Momiji eventually had to replace her book on its shelf, she'd have to move something first.

Miko Toyosatomimi giggled slightly as she stood before the gate of Myouren Temple, before she caught herself and stifled her behavior with her hand. Improper. One would not laugh at their enemies, at least not until that enemy was a crying mess kneeling in the dirt before oneself. Miko noted that she derived perhaps a bit too much pleasure from that train of thought, and determined that it would be best to meditate on her own desires someday. It would be unhealthy to harbor too great an obsession with Byakuren Hijiri, no matter how relevant that woman might or might not grow to be in her immediate future.

The temple was quiet, it's residents most likely still asleep. It was fairly early in the morning, and it was snowing. Even the Temple residents would be lulled to extra sleep by the silence and heaviness that the air was instilled with by the falling of fresh snow. It was too bad, as Miko reflected she had actually been somewhat looking forward to taunting at least one waking member of the temple grounds. Oh well. For now she could just make her way into the village. She loved to walk through it, in solitude and peace before the hustle and bustle of the day began. If she dared at a time when there were humans out and about, they might recognize her and make a scene of her presence. As she walked slowly along the barely paved path between the village and temple, she couldn't help but smile, her mouth still sheltered by her hand.

Winter was a wonderful time. Especially when it was her first in saints knew how long.

Shujiko Ishi shuffled slowly beyond the village she'd finally reached after what seemed like endless wandering. Bundled up appropriately for the cold weather, the will youkai looked rather bored and unresponsive, although a small turmoil brewed in her mind.

She'd heard a few things about humans who regularly beat up youkai of considerable strength recently. Mainly the shrine maiden and a witch. The latter was kind of difficult to find, but she at least knew where the shrine was, and since Shujiko was desperate to fight a strong opponent...

But she was still a human, right? Sure, these spell cards were supposed to make that moot, but past experiences had shown humans to be rather... well, weak in comparison. What if the Hakurei shrine Maiden disappointed her? Maybe she should just look for those weird girls in the bamboo forest instead...

Youmu was used to odd requests from her mistress. After all, she was quite a whimsical character sometimes. But she had to admit, 'protecting the spring' was a bit of a surprise. Sure, there had been a bit of a problem before, but that was kind of... well, their fault, right? Who was actually going to steal it this time?

Well... it was something asked of her by Yuyuko, so she would see this through. Although it was kind of cold... and she didn't exactly know her way through the forest of magic too well... Oh look, a house. Marisa's or Alice's? Youmu didn't know, but she wasn't picky. An excuse to experience a bit of warmth proved tempting. The half-human sent her phantom-half forward to knock on the door while she approached.

Reisen was used to hard work and strange requests. Kind of like a certain gardener, but with much more humiliation involved. Thankfully, there was none of that involved in her task, although she feared the repercussions of failing.

Seriously, why did no one stock cakes with cat-ear decorations?!

Reisen stepped out of the bakery, a worried expression on her face. Not good, if she didn't get Kaguya's cake... she would be disappointed. That in itself was unfortunate, but disappointing Princess Kaguya meant drawing the ire of Eirin...

Shaking thoughts of punishment from her mind, the rabbit girl drew her winter coat tighter and looked for anything that might sell cakes. Would she get away with sticking a cat-ear head band in it, maybe?

...Best not to risk it...

It was about now that the sunlight shining directly into the window became too much for Marisa to remain asleep. With a yawn, she sat up, and rubbed her eyes. Well, she got a late start... like she did most winter days, but that meant that the rest of the day needed twice as much activity! And asskicking! Lots of asskicking! She hopped out of bed, and rapidly began going about her morning routine. Taking a bath, getting dressed in some nice and warm clothes(with her ass-kicking clothes underneath. She had three sets of her black-and-white witch outfit), and then...

"Eh...?"

What the hell was that on the desk in her bedroom...?

She took a few steps towards it, and then picked it up. It was small, shiny... wait a sec, did she get the non-Aya crow tengu's camera thingy? It was shaped the same, and everything! Marisa didn't recall ever stealing that, of all things...

Well, time to check what the hell it was. Marisa pocketed the device, headed for the door, pulled it open, snatched her broom, and shot out of her home.

On one hand, Suwako had no idea where she was.

On the other hand, she didn't particularly care so much. Bundled up tightly in winter clothing, in the middle of a great deal of snow... this was fun! But she was still looking for people to play with. That was the harder part.

"Helloooooooooo!?" called the childish goddess, looking around. She didn't see anyone, but that instead spurned her onward to look for people.

There was a youkai Miko didn't recognize along the path, heading her way. She supposed she'd have to make an effort at some point to get to know more of the natives; beyond those that had come to investigate her resurrection and beat the living daylights out of her at any rate. She supposed now would be a good time as any to start, so the saint approached Shujiko with a smile and a wave.

"Greetings."

Shrine Maiden of Paradise

Like many others during this winter season, Reimu had opted to stay indoors wrapped in the warmth of her blanket. She sat in seiza position, a steaming cup of tea in her hands. Each sip warmed her insides, making the shrine maiden feel completely relaxed and at ease. She hoped this peace would last. She'd hate to have yet another incident happen in the winter, making her go out in that chilling air, fighting whatever youkai that would have the misfortune of getting in her way. Something like that would more than likely put the girl in a worse mood than usual.

It seemed she had yet to notice the extra object taking space within her shrine...

Colorful Rainbow Gatekeeper

While Sakuya wondered what to do with the situation at hand, Meiling, in her now very childish mind, had opted to do something far more pleasing. She was hungry, as clearly indicated by her grumbling tummy, and wanted to eat something sweet to fill her empty stomach. Now... how to sneak into the kitchen and steal a slice of that cake she noticed was on the counter before being lolified...

Modern-Day Spirit Photographer

Winter time meant slow news for the tengu of the Kakashi Spirit News. Nobody left their homes unless completely necessary when it was this cold out. Meaning barely anything ever happened. It was, quite frankly, a rather boring time and the young crow was far too eager to prove she was just as good as Aya to keep herself cooped indoors this year. But what should she do? She racked her brain, trying to come up with something, anything to do. It came to mind that during slow times like these, Aya would go pester a certain White-Wolf Tengu.

Though was it a good idea to emulate her rival like that? Well, not like she minded spending time with the wolf. She always admired her abilities. Right, if nothing else, she can do a report on the patrol tengu. But, it didn't seem right to do a report on a colleague. She shook her head of such thoughts. No, she was a serious reporter now, she shouldn't worry too much about morals.

With that set in mind, the crow tengu headed off to Momiji's.

ALICE
The magician groaned when there was a knock at the door, shrinking back into the warmth and comfort of her bed as one doll opened the front door to admit her visitor entry. It had better not be Marisa again, she'd come around yesterday and mooched dinner off of Alice rather than bothering to cook for herself. Fortunately, it turned out to be the half-ghost, who was directed in the general direction of the second floor.

Alice could get out of bed or stay there and she'd rather keep to where it was warm. The unusually long winter had forced her to spend annoying amounts of time outside but, ultimately, Makai had no seasons and she'd never really gotten used to cold weather.

SAKUYA
Cleaning could wait, she concluded, instead stopping time and going to find Meiling. She would never have gone back to her actual job with justifiable reason not to, which meant she'd gone somewhere inside the mansion. Ten minutes of looking later, and the Chinese girl was located on some stairs by the kitchen. She probably should have expected the maid to suddenly appear before her...
MOMIJI

Shujiko came to a stop, raising her gaze to look at whoever spoke to her. Someone with a slightly unusual hair style and an odd looking... um, thing on her ears. Were those ear muffs? they looked... distinctly not-fluffy.

The will youkai was silent for a moment, too surprised that someone had spoken to her to actually respond. She eventually collected herself, ansering dully, "Hello."

Shujiko remained motionless, wondering if this person had more to say. It had been so long since she had a conversation, she was still trying to remember exactly what to say herself.

Youmu reached the door in time to see a doll directing her upstairs. Her ghostly half falling in place at her side, Youmu followed it, already feeling slightly better. Not by a whole lot though.
Eventually, the gardener found Alice, bundled up in her bed. "Ah, sorry, am I interrupting?" Youmu asked politely, giving the room a sweeping glance as she did. She was kind of curious as to what this person possessed, expecting walls to be lined with all kinds of dolls, really.

Her eyes lingered on an object on the bookshelf that decidedly wasn't really a book, before returning her attention to Alice. "Please pardon my intrusion, I... was just... er, checking the spring."

Technically true, yeah, but right now a little warmth was taking priority.

Sensing Shujiko was hesitant, Miko smiled politely. She automatically assumed this was one of the shy youkai, and her powers were telling her that this girl desired words to say. She figured it would be prudent of her to say them for her.

Hey, was that the rabbit that lived with the moon princess? The one with boobs, not the little one. Yep, it was. "Heeeeyyy, I remember you!"

Marisa's feet narrowly avoided clipping the top of Reisen's head. That probably could've hurt, considering how fast the witch was going.

Suwako spotted two figures up ahead. Clearly, playing with them was the best option. She hurried through the snow as best she could, attempting to get a bit closer. Did one of them have earmuffs? That's what they looked like.

Alone atop a hill just a few minutes walk from the human village stood a single, solitary building. It wasn't exactly a large building, although it was bigger than most of the houses in the village, and curiously built so that it would resemble a cross when viewed from above. This was the only church in Gensokyo, a spiritual center for the community of this eastern wonderland equal in importance to the shrines of Hakurei and Moriya, and to the temple of Myouren, where many Gensokians came to show their respects to Our Lord God and his son, Jesus Christ.

At least, that was what its owner liked to think.

""...They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this." Now, my congregation, if you will please turn to psa-"

Maria Shepard, the head of Gensokyo's admittedly small Christian community, halted mid-sermon and sighed deeply. Turnout wasn't usually very high (the number of Christians in Gensokyo could be counted on one hand, even if you included the nun herself), and of course due to the weather it was expected that some might not be able to make their way up the hill, but... She hadn't expected turnout to be this low.

Specifically, she hadn't expected no-one to show up at all. Her current congregation were nothing but a few snowmen she had constructed from the snow that had entered through the hole in the roof because she wanted someone to hear her sermons, even if they were simply a clump of frozen water made up to look like a person. Humans were mostly water anyway, so it was almost the same as preaching to real people, right?

She'd even made the effort to chisel out their features so that they looked like real people, or at least a close enough facsimile of real people. It felt slightly less pathetic this way, after all.

"...Father, why do you forsake me so?" she said, turning her gaze to the sky. Snow continued to flutter down onto the church floor through the hole. Once it melted, it would likely end up flooding the church for days on end afterwards. It was things like this that made her think that her faith was being tested by the Almighty. But no matter what hardships she faced, her faith would not waver. She was the one who would lead this heathenistic land towards the true path; she couldn't doubt herself for one moment if she was to achieve this.

Seeing how there was no point continuing with her sermon, Maria headed to the back room of the church, her living quarters. She made a quick check of her supplies and realised that she'd probably have to go out sometime soon or starve to death; the only thing even remotely ressembling food she had right now were communion wafers (and even then she didn't have the wine to go with them). Sighing once more, she returned to the main chamber and headed towards the door. Halfway across the hall, however...

"Ow! What the..."

...She tripped over... Something and landed facefirst into a pile of snow. Now cold and wet, she got to her feet and turned to inspect what she'd stumbled on, suspecting that one of the pews had gotten out of place again.

"...Um... What...?"

It... Vaguely resembled a bicycle, only... Not. It looked like something those water demons from the mountain would come up, all covered in pipes, tubes, and other strange contraptions. The only thing she could really understand about the strange... Thing was the name inscribed on it.

"Ha... Harley... David... Son?" she read aloud. "What... What is this devilry?"

"ARA ARA!!" a voice boomed out. Walking up the hill was the youkai only known as Masami no Hidoi. As the name implied, she's a terrible youkai. A young, terrible and restless youkai that mooches off the local church. She walked in stride with a large, burning net of fish overhead. How she caught all of them? No one would know. "Hey hey hey!" she yelled out three times, kicking the doors to the church wide open. "HEYYYYYYYY!" she yelled again, dropping the large cluster of fish to the ground.

"Ara ara, RED! You here?" she must be blind because the young priestess was nearby. Wait, what was that thing? "Hey hey, Red, you alright?" the girl walked forward, staring at the mechanical contraption nearby. "Uhh..." she placed her pointer finger on his lips, thinking... what the hell could this thing be?

Shrine Maiden of Paradise

Out of tea... Reimu dully noted, looking down her cup. Better get some more before the chill of the cold threatened to attack her again. The shrine maiden stood, pulling the blanket tightly around her shoulders. It was then, when she turned for the kitchen, that she finally noticed the object that had intruded upon her home. She walked over to it and picked it up. "Coffee maker...?" She read aloud. What was this coffee? Was it something she could sell? And just how much could she get for selling this coffee?

Though, the real question here was how exactly did this contraption get in her house. It looked like something you would find among the kappa or in Yukari's home. She highly doubted any kappa dropped by the shrine without her noticing, nor would Yukari come by without bugging her at all, "Ah... this better not be an incident..."

Colorful Rainbow Gatekeeper

"Wah!" The chinese girl yelped in surprise, falling back as her bottom hit one of the steps. She really should have expected Sakuya to notice her absence and find her, but it still caught her off guard none the less, "Owowow..."

The now child Meiling looked up nervously at the much, much taller Sakuya. She looked like a little girl who had just got caught digging in the cookie jar. And if you replaced cookie jar with cake, that's almost what it was.

"S-Sakuya-san, I was just uhm..." It was at that moment, her tiny stomach made an audible growl.

Modern-Day Spirit Photographer

"Momiji-san, are you home~?" The crow tengu called out right outside the wolf's home. If it were Aya, she probably would have barged on in, whether Momiji was home or not. Hatate liked to think that she had far more courtesy than that of the busy body Bunbunmaru reporter. She'd rather have people give their interviews willingly, rather than be constantly on the look out for her, ready for a fight if need be.

ALICE
"Is it spring already?" the girl asked hopefully, sitting up a little and dislodging the covers to reveal pyjamas. Specifically, pastel pink ones, with a softer-looking version of one of her shanghai dolls held under one arm. If it was spring already... it would be warm enough that going outside wouldn't be so unpleasant, right? How did these people stand seasons, anyway? Summer was brilliant and spring was nice but autumn was a major indication of the steadily approaching hell...

Not that most people could survive in Makai's toxic landscapes anyway, but...

She still hadn't noticed the strange addition of what appeared to be a plastic toy robot to her shelves, sandwiched between one French doll and one Kyoto doll.

SAKUYA
"Going to steal food? I guess that it won't ruin my schedule too much if I make you breakfast, it's not as if Lady Remilia hasn't already eaten and left, and her sister is likely to be sleeping until nightfall..." the maid said, sighing and walking towards the kitchen herself. A hungry Meiling was annoying enough but a hungry child Meiling actually had some power to sway Sakuya from her normal cast-iron resolve to not budge an inch from her duties. Upset children were such a terrible thing...
MOMIJI
The wolf tengu closed her book with a sigh, climbing to her feet and placing the book on top of the kotatsu. The warmth was pleasant, even if it was unnecessary, and if she ever got any visitors they would probably complain should she have the unadorned table rather than the thick fleece and fire hazard...

"Yes?" Momiji asked, opening the door. The other crow reporter, the one about her age? Well, it was better than having Aya around, she was less likely to turn over every stone in search of something interesting.

"...Ah, I am Shujiko Ishi." The will youkai replied. "...'Toyosatomimi'..." Yeah, she could remember that fine. Shujiko glanced at the temple, wondering if that had always been there. It had been a while since she'd came to the village. Hm...

Not noticing the approaching figure, Shujiko turned back to Toyo, wondering what else to say. It would be rude to walk off at this point... okay, after introductions, what would be the next logical thing to say?

"...So you know the shrine maiden?" Shujiko asked dully. It was the only topic on her mind right now, and maybe she could give some insight to her strength? It was a long shot, but...

"Oh, uh, not quite..." Youmu answered. "Milady... decided to be cautious this year." At least, Youmu assumed that to be the case. "There's... no need to get up, really."

Youmu's eyes wandered around the room again, which she tried to keep discreet. It was somewhat rude to just investigate another's room like this, after all. But since Youmu was inside Alice's house, she was curious to see what it was like.

She decided not to comment on the out-of-place toy, however, lest she inadvertently insult some form of order Alice employed for her dolls. Though the gardener really couldn't think of any kind of order that randomly threw in something decidedly completely different.

Didn't stop her ghostly half floating towards it as if to study the toy itself.

Huh, was someone calling for her? Reisen turned her head, then immediately ducked low, hands held over her head as she yelped. Her ears twitched as the witch sped overhead, and the moon rabbit nervously glanced in Marisa's direction, quickly identifying her 'attacker'.

"You... what was that for! I didn't do anything!" Reisen called accusingly, straightening herself and glaring at the witch. "I hope you aren't picking a fight, because I'm really busy!"

"Hello!" Suwako called, drawing closer. These people looked like they might be fun... Clearly, playing with them would be a good time for all involved. She was getting closer, now, but the heavy clothing that Sanae and Kanako had insisted she wear before going outside restricted her movement and prevented her from getting there particularly quickly.

"I didn't attack you," Marisa replied. This was actually true, she simply couldn't bring herself up fast enough to avoid that narrow miss. "It's hard changing course when I'm going so fast, so I couldn't avoid almost kicking you. That would've been pretty fun if I had hit you... Anyway, you were originally from the moon, right? And there's all that technological stuff up there, so... could you tell me what this is?"

Marisa retrieved the device from her pocket. It was a rounded square, that appeared to be able to be opened up. It was a lot like Hatate's camera in appearance, really.

"Ishi, a pleasure to..." Miko glanced at Suwako as she approached. "Meet you. I do know Hakurei, yes." Only too well, at that. Reimu was quite the brutish young woman, and Miko still had the bruises along one arm to prove it. From what she could sense of the desires of the two women in her presence, the one right before her wanted to pick a fight for the purpose of self enlightenment and the other wanted to play. A combination that would surely lead to some interesting occurrences. Perhaps she could get them to incidentally destroy Myouren Temple if she could mediate a friendly sparring match between the two? Miko giggled slightly again, then stifled the improper motion once more.

"Greetings." Miko sensed Suwako's power, and knew that this would be one she shouldn't fight with under favorable circumstances.

Well, even if this wasn't an incident, she wanted some monetary gain from this strange new device she found. Better to find someone who knew what it was and could tell her how to use it. Possibly should check the kappa first, no way did she want to deal with Yukari just yet. She didn't think she'd have the patience to figure out those bothersome riddles the woman usually spoke in.

So, Reimu exited her shrine with the coffee maker tucked under her arm and took off into the sky. After awhile, she spotted Marisa talking to that moon rabbit. Now what was her name again? Rason? Reimon? Raisin? Yeah, Raisin, that was it, wasn't it?

"Hey!" Reimu called to get their attention as she flew down towards them. It wasn't long until she spotted the strange object in Marisa's hand, "You've been stealing from the kappa again, haven't you?"

Colorful Rainbow Gatekeeper

"Yay!" Meiling cheered, hugging the maid on pure instinct. Becoming a child seemed to have stripped her of some the reservations that came with adulthood. Atop the clouds, in a room in the dragon god's palace, a youngling leant by the window, looking down at the land below and sulking.

You can't go down to the world of mortals, Kamui!

Sighing in anger, she reminisced about the conversation she had with the dragon god some hours ago, when she argued that there was nothing to do to have fun around here, specially during Winter. She got bored, and she wanted to do something. The humans and youkai down there looked like they had a good time there.

You mustn't mix with mortals. Their kin is not worth the time. Most of the time they are selfish and arrogant. The brevity of their lives makes them do selfish decisions constantly. They are not the kind of people a young dragon like you should be seeing. They'd be a bad influence.

He was an old geezer, Kamui thought. He didn't know the truly good things behind mortals. Because they had limited lives, they made sure to live their lives to the fullest, rather than being caught in the trappings of monotony that this palace had. Trappings that she couldn't withstand anymore.

In an act of rebelry, Kamui quickly put on clothing to stave off the cold outside, then, with some difficulty, slipped by the window of her room after checking that no one was looking, either outside or inside, and flew down from the clouds into Gensokyo. She had heard that one particular celestial named Hinanawi Tenshi had found the most fun at a place called Hakurei shrine, somewhere near the borders of the land. It sounded like a good place to find some entertaining contact with mortals. However, she didn't know exactly where in the border was the shrine, so she would probably have to ask someone first.

After some random flying, Kamui found three people standing on the snow, apparently engaging in conversation. The way the scales on her tail shivered, the young dragon could feel that one exuded a divine aura. Gods usually knew where shrines were, right? It couldn't hurt asking.

Without warning, Kamui descended onto the snow, and landed on her feet with a *thump* noise, shaking off the snow on her clothes before looking towards the pair of the little weird-hatted goddess, the tall, weird-haired woman and the young youkai. "Hey there! I hope I am not interrupting anything!"

ALICE
"Oh..." the blonde said, sinking back beneath the covers and looking at the gardener again, "Is there any particular reason that you've decided to come here? I don't think that you've ever chosen to visit me before."

SAKUYA
So cute...

Meiling appeared to have temporarily broken Sakuya, if that maid's coming to a complete halt was anything to go by.

MOMIJI
"There isn't much to talk about," Momiji said, somewhat nervously. She'd expect this sort of thing from Aya, weird as she was, but Hatate? Were all the crow tengu secretly obsessed with meaningless gossip, or was she just unfortunate enough to attract them like flies?

"Ah." Shujiko stated blandly, and followed Miko's gaze to see a girl with a rather odd - yet kind of cute - hat making her towards them. Huh. Shujiko watched her until someone approached from behind. The will youkai turned to glance at her, wondering if she had suddenly turned into a magnet for random, if nice, people.

"...I don't think so," Shujiko answered her. "Um. Hi." She added, directing it towards both newcomers.

"Yeah, I'm sure it would've been hilarious..." Reisen muttered, and gave the object Marisa showed her a curious glance. "You almost kicked me to show me this thing?"

Reisen would have taken a closer look, but the shrine maiden showed up at this point. Well, at long as she didn't have to fight these two together... still, she hadn't exactly expected to run into these two today.

"Stole? This thing's stolen?" Reisen asked accusingly, giving Marisa a stern glare. She didn't want to end up getting caught in some huge thievery case and blamed for the whole thing. She was only trying to find a cat-eared cake, and Tewi wasn't around to mess with her luck. Hopefully.

"Well, uh..." Let's see, the most likely excuse would be... "Well, um... I was just patrolling the forest, and I found this house... and... I was making sure you hadn't... taken it for yourself?" Youmu suggested, her attention momentarily diverted by what her ghost half was doing. "Myo-, uh, hey!"

Youmu's ghost half immediately snapped back to her side, ceasing its prodding of the unusual doll. Youmu gave Alice an apologetic smile. "Sorry, my ghost can be quite... er, curious sometimes."

Mostly because Youmu was indeed curious, but she didn't want to be seen as a rude guest, and sometimes she could just say her phantom half was independent. Well, it kind of was, but Youmu mostly influenced its actions.

"Aa-uu? Even more people?" Suwako couldn't help but be incredibly pleased by the current circumstances. This was just getting better and better! Soon they'd be playing and having fun in the snow, because that was snow's purpose. It was meant to be played in and had fun in, obviously! It wasn't just a weather phenomenon. It was a medium for fun.

"Hi!" she greeted them, cheerfully, "I'm Moriya Suwako!"

"Eh? No, I didn't steal this, it appeared in my house for... uh... some reason," Marisa shrugged on that note. "I don't steal things I don't know how to use."

She held the little device up. "I was trying to see if the moon rabbit had any idea about it, 'cause they have a lot of stuff like this on the moon. Or Kourin, Kourin might be able to figure this thingy out. Anyway, hi Rei-chan!"

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."

Singing Night Sparrow

Mystia Lorelei, Night Sparrow and singer extraordinaire, pulled her food cart through the snow. Her only concession to the cold was a scarf added to her typical outfit. The brisk winter air made her feel energetic so she was singing. Any kind of weather would have made her sing but at least she was singing about wintery topics: snow, ice, murdering humans, and using the lure of hot food to bilk some villagers out of money they might be tempted to spend on yakitori. Yes, Mystia was in fine spirits. And fully stocked on fine spirits.

She had several jugs of sparrow sake and plenty of lamprey and eels. So she was pulling her cart from its usual place in the forest to somewhere in sight of the village. She had even taken the precaution of hanging a sign that read "Not a youkai" on the cart. Her cart felt slightly heavier than she thought it should be, even fully loaded, but she paid it no mind. Even if she had gone to look, she wouldn't have recognized the strange new object that had appeared in her possession.

That was odd. At least two of them had the desire to find the shrine now for less than altruistic purposes. And Suwako had the desire to play in... the snow? That made no sense, but Miko supposed she couldn't begrudge the powerful their whimsical motions.

"Perhaps I could lead the both of you young women to the shrine of Hakurei?" Miko indicated both Shujiko and Kamui. "And it is good to meet you, Moriya. Would you care to accompany us this fine morning?" Miko was hatching a new plan, that involved giving that upstart Reimu a burden to deal with. Well, not so much a plan as loosing a random youkai, dragon girl, and goddess- at least that's what she thought the powerful one with the odd yet becoming hat was- upon her and hoping something hilarious occurred that would ruin the shrine maiden's day. Then she could go on with her original plan of ruining Byakuren's day. All in time, of course.
