I'd say it does seem to be a bit more prominent in the game industry since it's a combination of an entertainment industry and a tech industry. Just look at the way the entertainment industries around the world treat female performers (ie not very well or at least not as well as their male counterparts) and discrimination against women in STEM fields.
Shit, the latter starts as early as grade school — girls tend to be discouraged from skipping grades in math even if they're ready for it.
Disgusted, but not surprisedHadn't watched a Jim video in a while, did so today again.
Alas, the magical algorithm produced a video of some Below-2000 subs Youtuber who actually went ahead and defended Digital Homicide (from Jim Sterling and all the anonymous Steam users it sued).
Yeah, really
Didn't think that could exist. Anyways, because I am currently sick and have nothing better to do with my time, I actually watched the whole +1 h thing. And good god, that was a shitshow if I ever saw one
Just if any of you are curious, here, have a look
The conclusions this guy reaches are really beyond words. I mean seriously, Jim made an off-hand comment of how he would never have seen a single dime out of James's pockets and this guy takes it as "proof" that somebody must've hacked their Steam Account, since that means they could never have paid the fees for putting up so many games (among other things) xD

Erhm...
1. While not every class action lawsuit starts off being filed by single person, most, in fact, do.
2. Dogwhistles? What? Please give examples.
Angry gets shit done.Jim has come out as nonbinary and prefers to be addressed as they, not he.
Ukrainian Red CrossI wouldn't say it's that they forgot and moved on due to the shiny new game, more so that outlets choose to move on so they can cover shiny new game. It's a side effect of the parasitic relationship between game studios and gaming news outlets, there's specific requirements they have to meet so that they can get access to review copies of upcoming releases and thus keep up with everyone else and pay their employees.
Game companies have a lot of power over gaming news outlets, and the tendency to quickly move on from scandals (if they're even reported on) is one among many symptoms of that. Integrity isn't much good if it means you're going to fall way behind everyone else's schedule for reviews, and talking about systemic abuses in your reviews is a pretty quick way to lose exclusive coverage deals and whatnot.
Compare that to WSJ, Bloomberg, or Kotaku all having nothing to lose since they aren't part of that machine in the first place- they get way more leeway to break stories of workplace abuse in the video game industry since they either aren't beholden to AAA game companies or were already blacklisted by them for less anyways.

🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI think that’s actually my problem with Game Journalists. That they basically get bought out by publishers.
That’s why I do prefer reviews from people on You Tube as they very likely aren’t being bought out. Of course sometimes they do accept sponsorships but those are the exceptions.
AAAAUUUUGGGHHHH!!!!The way I see it is that the reviewers stick to their task of reviewing the game as a product, and keep any stories of a Troubled Production or behind the scenes shenanigans completely segregated. Because it's their job. Still, such stories should never be buried and forgotten and should be factored in whether the individual should buy it or not. But that's a job for the journalists, not the reviewer. Also, bribes should stay out of the review process, but sadly we're in the age where Youtube keeps on going down the sellout drain.
ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.Jim playing the Pokemon remaster on Twitter
A) Happy to have their favorite Ekans
B) Less happy that Ekans walking animation is... none. It's coiled on itself and glides on the ground like a roomba.

Animating a snake slithering across the floor sounds daunting, and I'm not an animator but something with obvious legs is easier to show believable movement
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverTo elaborate on this: every single pokemon remake before this had substantial improvements to presentation, gameplay mechanics, and useful new features compared to the originals. I would never recommend playing red and blue over fire red and leaf green, or gold and silver over heartgold and soul silver, especially to someone who's never played these games before. They're just better in every single way. Even omega ruby and alpha sapphire, the most contested remakes prior to BDSP, clearly had a decent amount of effort put into modernizing the games and making them a good experience.
BDSP just doesn't compare to any of these. The presentation alone is a huge l compared to the original game and most everything else about it feels exceptionally phoned in. The core issue being that it was given to a studio that specialized more in graphic design than actual game development, and were likely given a very tight budget and deadline. So it's no surprise it ended up this way.
Comparing this to the GTA remasters, yeah BDSP looks noticeably better but as has been said, the bar there is exceptionally low. Even the most mediocre remaster looks aces compared to that dumpster fire.

I'm not saying the remakes are not improvement, but I am saying that even a brand new pokemon game is, frankly, a middling effort at best. Pokemon is a franchise practically made of cut corners. Remember that whole thing about Sword and Shield's entire lead up controversy.
Like yeah it's an improvement over the original 15 year old game, for sure, but the Pokemon Franchise has a such a low standard on what qualifies for a decent effort, telling me it's a good remake means little. The bar's so low it takes little effort to go over it.

It looks like only 1 person? So many dogwhistles too in that. /doubt.
