The problem with Hidden Abilities is that they are, by nature, Hidden. There is no concrete mechanism by which you can consistently obtain them from game to game. With each no game, Pokemon has to just invent a brand new mechanic for spawning Hidden Abilities into the game so that they remain obscure enough to be desirable yet obtainable enough to be worth seeking.
Ability Capsules, if they could switch to Hidden Abilities, would be a fine compromise for a consistent HA method. By costing BP, the capsule meets the criteria for being obscure, yet obtainable.
Thats exactly what Ability capsules do in recent games. There's also new items in Sword and Shield that set the stats of a pokemon to preffered Nature as well.
I guess they could create a new item called a Hidden Capsule that changes a Pokémon's Ability into a Hidden Ability and vice-versa (because some Hidden Abilities are worse than regular ones), but make it expensive and hard to get.
The point is Ability Capsules don't do that.
I have a Shiny female Eevee in Gen VI I really want to transfer and make a part of a real competetive team. But because she was born with Run Away and a Timid nature, the only Eeveelution she could be effective with is a Jolteon, when I'd much rather her be an Espeon.
I'd say giving Megas to Starters was a good idea. Most are bad competitively (as mentioned) and they're all consistently popular, so it just boosts fan favorites to an acceptable level.
Mega Mewtwo isn't even that impressive. Like sure Y is strong on paper, but not much more than a Life Orb vanilla and you have to deal with the "one Mega per team" opportunity cost. X is kind of a joke because Mewtwo has limited physical options.
yeah, the only stater mega evo who was a mistake was blaziken since blaziken was already one of the storngest mons out there, and funnily enough, his mega isn't actually ran most of the time cause it doesn't do too much for him and you have better things to do with you mega slot. The real kicker with blaziken is his hidden ability which is absolutely busted.
Sometimes I feel like Marge in The Simpsons, having to tell people that Homer is alright once you get past all the bullshit, but never actually running out of bullshit in the first place.
“Basically, you’re a wolf telling sheep how not to get eaten.”
You know, I think there's a folk tale somewhere about that.
This sounds like a situation where the game industry accidentally hits a different problem on the head while trying to cover their own butts. On one hand, yes parents should absolutely get involved with what their kids spend time on. Not only to keep an eye on em but to get involved with them and their hobbies instead of treating the blinky fun boxes as babysitters, which I believe is part of the overall problem. On the other this crap really shouldn't be in a game rated for kids in the first place.
that's the crux of the issue. Video game companies deflecting blame from the ones that actively make games that aren't suited for children rated suited for children. Then telling the parents to deal with that.
The power of accusative language never ceases to amaze me.
Terminator: Resistance - Resisting Publicity (Jimpressions)
I saw a video of that game by Civvie 11 and apparently ts actually pretty decent. I mean if you ignore Angry Joe losing his shit over the heinous crime of the Terminator lasers not being purple or whatever.
Does anyone still pay attention to Angry Joe? Hyperbole like that is the main reason I stopped paying attention to him, even if he's doing a lot of it as a joke.
Yeah, most former Channel Awesome people are like that and I heard Angry Joe was kind of a prat.
Angry Joe needs to eat a snickers some time
I'll watch Jim's take on Terminator Resistance later but frm what he said on T Witter he likes it. I might even pick it up on PS 4.
I liked Civvie 11's vid on it, but I like that guy in general.
It's these kind of games that have my deep respect. It's one thing to be an AAA title with the highest budgets around. but to be a medium-tier dev and make a licensed game, something that's either going to be video game fast food at best, utter piece of crap at worst and still turn out the best product you can with the budget you have. That's amazing.
I never had that much time for Joe, I watched a few of his videos on seriously atrocious game and maybe a few others, but my main exposure to him were his appearances on The Co-Optional Podcast - on the whole his style doesn't super appeal to me and I find a lot of his opinions to be dogshit, but he's also attracted a fairly toxic fanbase who can be pretty alt-rightish at times I take this back, anti-SJW is more accurate, and he doesn't always do a great job at pushing back at them they seem to be low-key rubbing off on him at times.

Oh wonderful, he's one of the weak "hands-off" types. Glad I asked.
I wouldn't go that far, but only because I barely interact with his content/community and therefore don't feel informed enough to actually go that far, if you get what I mean. I know there was a lot of drama in his Twitter feed because he was shitting on Trump and a, at the very least, loud part of his fanbase gave him shit in return for it, so he was at war with elements of his community at the very least, and I don't remember exactly what the more recent drama was where he got more serious flak from people, but the impression I get is that he isn't that political a guy and that the Trump shit was him reacting to what everyone at the time was reacting to, and that he seems somewhat easy to influence tbh.
- Ok, looked up the more serious stuff that happened in 2018, and I have to take back the alt-right accusation - it was regurgitating the anti-SJW line that Battlefield V did badly because of the women characters. Get woke go broke, basically, which had zero basis in reality. Still oof, but not like directly Nazi-aligned stuff that he didn't want to confront or anything. See correction below. This is what I get for skimming Google results.
My general impression of him is of a slightly clueless dude (in many areas, including games) who does have his heart in the right place but has landed up with a pretty anti-SJW and demanding fanbase that he really needs to interact less with. I mean, they threw an almighty shitfit when he said he wouldn't be reviewing games for a while because he was burning out. They are very entitled manbabies who don't care about him. And they then threw a shitfit over the notion that Battlefield V underperformed because of reasons that weren't the inclusion of women.

Ah okay. I just kinda wish some creators would have a bit more of a spine about the shittier parts of their fanbase really.
Jim is pretty good about that, and so was TB. Man, TB especially had zero qualms about telling his fanbase that they should absolutely fuck off if they had certain opinions or did certain things.
Yeah, Jim is pretty rad about that..
Wasn't Angry Joe was one of the people, who said that the fact that Battlefield V underperformed wasn't in fact because of inclusion of female characters, which resulted in a lot of people and Youtubers shitting on him, claiming he was a SJW?
