BTW, how does this work since this is banned topic .-. Is it okay to discuss it outside of Pokemon thread?
If we stick to Jim's bit about it, rather than the subject itself, I suppose so.

We should stick to treating it as seriously as Jim treats it. Which is to say...where the hell is Ekans?
Edited by M84 on Nov 8th 2019 at 3:11:33 AM
No Ekans? 0/10 literally unplayable
Pokémon is for good boys and girls of all ages, so Ekans will not be showing up.
What about Servipor?
only native Galarian sneks allowed, sorry
Dont you guys know your history, they were chased away by saint Patrick
Must've had a box full of Zangoose.
Maybe Galidor has Whacking Day?
Death Stranding - Made For Walking (Jimpressions)
So yeah, Jim's not a fan. He compares it to RDR 2 and its self-indulgent time-wasting crap. It seems like he had no fun playing it whatsoever.

Never been a fan of realistic gameplay so this is a hard pass for me.
Me neither. I grew up playing games where you break blocks by jumping under them and you stomp walking evil shrooms. I don't need realism.
I'm going to have to agree to disagree on this one. The atmosphere the game's going for trumps the ridiculous realism in my mind.
People were speculating that the input latency problem in rdr2 (ie the biggest thing people complained about) would be fixed or at least mitigated in the PC port thanks to the higher framerate.
Which is true, but unfortunately the port is rubbish right now on top of being ridiculously demanding. Even the mid-range cards really struggle to hit 60 fps at 1080p (which is kind of absurd), never mind all the crashes and stuttering.
I wonder if Jim's going to talk about it? Like apparently rockstars launcher is part of the problem and users have been updating/reverting their motherboard bios to get it to run at all, which is pretty bad.

Oh yeah, the Rockstar Launcher.
Can I talk about the guy who tried and failed to preorder RDR 2 three times and thus got charged three times for it because of how shoddy Rockstar's shit is?
So there’s no hope left in general?
I enjoy realism in games, but up to a point. GTA V and the first RDR did it well, with their mix of realism and arcade-y fun. Your character can't take hits for shit, but you can also turn cars from being upside-down by wiggling the stick, or eat tobacco to be able to aim better. Stuff like that.
Not that I can't enjoy the more realistic games, like RDR 2, but for those, I have to be in the right mood to put myself in the headspace the game wants me to be in, and that's not a game I'll just be able to pop into and play with and have fun for a while, those are different, more time-consuming experiences, and yeah, not everybody's going to want to play those.
Jim's description of Death Stranding makes it sound worse than that, though. It seems to just be filled with bothers for no real gain.
I don’t know it sounds kinda therapeutic.
Just delivering stuff over the wide open spaces as to you try to figure out how to triumph over the terrain like getting past a river or a cliff side while managing inventory & supplies.
Huh how real life.

I haven't played RDR 2 to have an opinion but I can respect sacrificing some amount of "fun" for the sake of a bigger artistic vision. Like, Silent Hill 2 doesn't have conventionally responsive/good controls but people don't mind it too much because it fits the game.
Personally I'm not so worried about the lengthy animations so much as the latency. In Dark Souls for examples, your animations and movements are on average slower and lengthier than the average action game but they still feel good to play and control even if it takes a bit to adjust. The input lag on RDR 2 seems to be far bigger than that.
I don't care for RDR 2 and I'm sick and tired of all the hype the game's gotten but Death Stranding actually looks something I might give it a try. It has these little details like tripping on bumpy rocks from Jim's video.
Some of it is busywork for sake of busywork but I can see myself getting into the role of a delivery man or something. I can see why Jim feels about things the way he does but his gameplay made it look appealing

Alright you said it, now it has to be done.
RDR 2 is the greatest game of our generation, no the world. It is a phenomal mastapiece unmatched by any before it & anything that will come after.
It will go down in the history as the greatest thing ever since sliced bread & fried chicken.

I actually laughed now
I think the games that have the 'Sim' elements down like Red Dead have their place, there is certainly a fanbase for it.
Same for those 'Arcadey' style games.
RDR and Death Stranding are more redefining the line and the extremes between them.
