More like "Making bribes to hold game licenses hostage in order to compete rather than improve features and infrastructure of their own platform", and "Throw everything on sale, even things that aren't technically released yet, then redact those entries and keep the money".
Yeah, it's multiple kinds of shitty, but I fully expect a lot of people to get in on it, as it is still a significant discount on stuff that they want. This will establish a userbase, which will attract developers even without significant bribes.
It is completely unethical, as they are blatantly abusing those who got on board early, and yet it makes sense, because capitalism doesn't give a damn about ethics.
I fully expect Epic to either crash and burn, get sued out of the market by angry players/devs or for Steam to get consumed by Epic.
And I would still expect Steam to maintain their lazy-faire stance on housekeeping because Epic is making it too easy to get them free goodwill by virtue of "not being as bad as Epic".
Yep, this only reinforces my desire to stay the fuck away from Epic Store.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThere is a tendency to think of companies as some of them being benevolent. They aren't. They need to be treated as System Lords, kept fighting amongst themselves to avoid any one ever coming to true dominance.
Ukrainian Red CrossQuiet Riot: A Cult Of Silence (The Jimquisition)
...farting on people?
Riot's Mantra of Trust seems a lot like the Triad of Inner Strength that is central to The Fellowship in Ultima VII. Specifically, it combines the principles of Strive for Unity and Trust Thy Brother - or, translated from doublespeak, put the cult first and don't ask questions. This in turn leads to Worthiness Precedes Reward - if you become unworthy in the eyes of the guys in charge, you will be punished.
CEOs aren't Vulcan leaders. They aren't Minbari, or Hutts, or even Romulan commanders. They are Goa'uld System Lords, who run their territories as feudal god-kings.

Ukrainian Red CrossAlso the Fellowship were patsies for the evil Guardian.
So who's The Guardian in this case?
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowI'm going to say the chairmen, Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill.
Or, if you take the view that the Guardian is a supernatural being beyond humanity, that would make Brandon and Marc co-Batlins, and the Guardian is, I don't know, the abstract concept of greed? Laissez-faire capitalism? Actually, that kind of fits, because just as the Guardian presents himself as a benevolent, protective deity, so does laissez-faire present itself as a desirable system that will reduce poverty.
Ukrainian Red CrossBut the fellowship was based on EA!
Apart from when the Guardian invades the Avatar's computer and says he's gonna take over Britannia and Earth. Dunno why he did that if not to brag
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowEpic is becoming the Fallout 76 of Game Stores.
So the store has no shopping cart. But it'll block your account if you buy too many games too quickly because of aggressive anti fraud rules.
Which is a problem when they got their first big sale.

No shopping cart and it punishes you if you try to buy a lot of things quickly.
And they decided not to fix this BEFORE having a big sale.
And this isn't on top of their priorities.

Disgusted, but not surprisedStill wondering what the hell crawled up Sweeney's ass and died.
Congratz to Patrick Boivin for making the big time!
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Well they certainly are different from Steam. Right down to not wanting repeat or return investments.
Boy I can't wait for the next big fuckup that actually gets them taken to court! No really I can't.
EDIT: Now hang on, nobody told me Shakedown: Hawaii was out already on PS 4 and Switch! I loved Retro City Rampage, why didn't I hear about this? And why ain't it out on Steam yet?

I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowLooks like they also got an Epic exclusive.
But you should probably just buy it for a console so you can still play it in the future. Apparently it's also out on the Vita and will be released on the 3DS in the near future. Here's hoping for a GOG release.
Ukrainian Red CrossWhat's with all the companies commiting PR suicide over the last six or seven months?
Its the Western Games Market basically slowly unraveling.
Watch SymphogearNot to mention the aforementioned sale was also a mess. Slashing down prices sure, but most of it wasn't with the consent of the publishers. It's like they just decided we should have a big sale! without considering how those work. Man, they really are like a kid on their first job.
"No will to break."They focused so much on throwing around money to get exclusives that they didn't even bother to look at what Steam has managed to get right over the years.
Seriously, who throws a sale without providing shopping carts?

Disgusted, but not surprisedSteam went through this hiccups too back in the day. It sucks and is really dumb but doesn't really make Steam much better.
Key words: "back in the day".
Epic should have looked at Steam's history and learned from it. Just like how Anthem should have learned from Destiny's history.
If you don't learn from history, you're doomed to repeat it.
