The King's army was one that was always well equipped. They had weapons that were said to be the Sharpest, armor to be the strongest. Some claim it is the skill of the smiths, it is said that the best in the land are only allowed to forge weapons ordered by the King and his Court.

However, while these rumors are likely true, the real reason for their strength comes from the materials. Or at least, that is the belief of one high ranking strategist within the Rebellion.

Today, there is a supply convoy that is well protected making it's way towards Tellius, from the city of New Zan. New Zan was known for putting out some of the best mined materials Dwarves could find(At least in Nirn), being one of the only cities in the country with humans not being the majority race. The materials were excellent, and this convoy had a very large stock, to be forged for all the new recruits.

The convoy was supposed to be a secret, but spies found information on it. The group is currently on a trail, waiting for it to come along. It's early in the day, with the sun behind the convoy. There are trees on one side of the trail, and some farmland on the left side of the convoy. It is expected that it will have a decent guard, including archers. Riders aside from the carriages will be included among the guard.

Jessica was uncomfortably waiting behind a tree, wearing, for this, a darker version of her usual outfit. She was still getting used to this kind of mission, but this one was important so she wouldn't mess it up!

So, just have your characters hiding either behind the trees, or down in the farm land stuff, which would be low plants and probably some sitting water

"And so they came, two beggars with naught but their rags and their bones, and not even much of the latter. To the shrine of our Providence, where it regarded both beggars with it's holy ire. One beggar pleaded, the other was silent and strong. He who begged was struck down by a bolt of light. He shamed Providence with his weakness, his plea for that which mortals demeaned themselves to desire. And the other beggar became a prince among paupers, so long as he recalled the gifts he was given that day. Providence to us all. Amen."

In an incredibly thick accent anyways, that's what Treia had preached more to herself than to anybody else. Her book of gospels, large enough in and of itself to be used as a weapon, was tucked away and replaced by a wicked and runed dagger. Her eyes burned with a subdued but clear intensity, though the rest of her body was heavy with her relative age. Her clothes were simple, there was no armor, only cloth on her body. She knew that it would be her god who would dress her with armor when the time came. The first strike of Providence against the world that it would someday rule. Treia didn't spare a moment to revel in the fact that the glory would be hers. To do so would be to defile and dim her own mind, where only dazzling enlightenment should be.

The other reason her clothes were so plain was that it would provide for disguise. No guard would suspect a simple friar woman sharing their path would have any malicious intent. She glanced at her companions, also hidden as she was. Damn them all.

Sari was, at the moment, rather bored. Nothing particularly interesting had happened recently... She sighed, and leaned up against the tree. Well, hey, maybe someone fun to prank would be around soon. She was in a good spot for a prank ambush, in any case... Of course, she was also hanging around close to the rest of her band of rebellious freedom fighters! Which meant she was kind of keeping an eye out for baddies, too. But mostly for people to prank. Pranking was more fun, after all.

And it wasn't too sunny here, so that was nice.

Tatiana sat in the shadow of a large tree. She checked and rechecked where her knives were. One in each boot, four more in her belt. She hoped she'd brought enough. The white haired girl was...new to ambushes. Assassinations were far easier, find the target, wait until they're alone and place a knife in their shadow. One knife, almost always taken home again afterwards.

Still, this was for the good of the country, so she had no choice. She glanced around at her fellow rebels, sighed and wondered when the convoy was due. Perhaps leaving her sword at home wasn't the best idea...

Dagarent sat leaning against a tree, waiting for the others to attack before he dared to move; he had to be a bit into the treeline, as his size made him remarkably easy to spot at a distance. His right hand gripped his staff, as his left scratched the back of his head.

Rex lay on the ground, his head barely concealed by a particularly tall patch of grass. He sniffed the air inquisitively, pawing at the ground in anticipation. His head darted out of the grass occasionally, but as his body was still hidden, he appeared to be an ordinary, lonely wolf prowling the woods, hardly a threat to trained soldiers. Even if he left the grass, it was surprisingly difficult to discern he was a werewolf as long as he was on all fours.

He sniffed the air again. There was a hint of sweat, underscoring the odd smells accumulated by miners. Somewhat unpleasant.

Baleust hid in some tall grass, uttering not a sound. He did what his trainer said, and for the most part, it worked. However, practicing on a field wasn't the same as the real thing, so he thought about what he was doing wrong in his posture and made the occasional fix. It wasn't exciting to do so; He was laying flat on his stomach with his crossbow drawn, and his body felt stiff. The only comfort he had was the calming sound of his breathing.

Others were already in hiding either on the other side with the trees, and some on this side as well, in wait.

Overseas

The sun seared down on the deck of the ship. Many sailors were bustling about on deck, making sure that their voyage would be smooth sailing. It seemed there was going to some imports coming into the country. The pirates being assigned to intercept the ship and plunder it of all it's goods. To insure this mission was a success, the rebellion sent along a few of it's members to join the merry crew of the Wandering Whore in it's endeavors to procure the goods.

Currently, pirate captain Mary Rackam was up on deck, looking out her small telescope. So far no sign of the ship they were after, but the day was still young, and it was scheduled to arrive any minute. It shouldn't be too much longer before it appeared.

"You seem tense," A pink haired woman said, leaning against the ship railings and sending a a small, almost teasing wave to one of the sailors who had been gawking at the woman.

Mary didn't bother to glance at her sister as she replied, "I heard the guards on this ship aren't your run of the mill soldiers. They're a lot more skilled than we're normally used to."

"Aw, is the poor baby scared? Come to big sister, I won't let the mean scary men hurt you~" Anne teased, receiving a very piercing glare from her younger twin. She giggled lightly, patting the red head on the shoulder, "You worry too much, we'll be fine."

Close to the road but offset enough that anyone there wouldn't be able to see it, there was a pond. It was a small pond, scarcely more than a puddle, and until now it had been choked with weeds and algae. Marshmallow had fixed that problem; it was annoying to swim around in water choked with muck. Now that it was clear, though, it was perfectly fine to swim around in... even if practical swimwear wouldn't be invented for centuries, even if technological development sped up a little.

It wasn't at all surprising that Sari had told the fairy child to go play around somewhere near enough to find in a retreat but far enough to not be involved. Her only offensive abilities would cause just as much trouble to them and she was still a child; better to have her nearby and around to cheer people up.

From behind one of the trees Tarlin watched the convoy, the sight of it dragging up memories from before joining the rebellion. Fun, violent times. It'd been a while since she'd put down any of the royal scum. She wasn't happy with the higher emphasis on stealth in this group, but it was working so she couldn't complain. Led to less casualties too.

She'd also have preferred a smaller ambush a little further down the path, but beggers couldn't be choosers she supposed. Instead she slowly pulled an arrow from her quiver and nocked it, preparing to fire the wagon at a moment's notice.

Near the pond and unheeding of the others getting to ambush the convoy, a golden haired elf was wading about in the wet earth of the water's bank, combing the reeds and whatnot to discern if there was a particular ingredient for her works. It was only by chance that the alchemist was near one of the more inherently magical creatures in the world. Still, Ether was a girl on a mission. She wouldn't let something like a bit of mud stop her, no. She was prone to getting dirty in her travels anyways, seeing as clean and sterile did not make for very good research. Squishing her feet into the layer of wet sod, Ether continued her subquest for farmable ingredients.

A small distance from the rebellion's ambush point, and ignorant of it, Ignatius crept along across the land following the convoy for his own purposes. If anything went wrong, he could take advantage of it and if it did not it would lead him to a populated area, which would mean food and corpses. He could hunt and practise on wildlife, but it was harder on him, and he needed things other than meat to remain in a reasonable state.

He wasn't certain whether they could notice him or not, but they would probably not immediately expect a threat if they did, as was a mistake that wasn't uncommon. He continued on following it, alert in case of anything that he could take advantage of would danger him occured.

Robert pondered as he saw the green of his clothes stained yet again by a certain slimy stuff of some sort that someone had left on the deck previously. He cursed inwardly for saying yes to everything, specially attractive women, with generous landscapes. He was no pirate. He had not the makings of a sailor, and yet here he was, hauling stuff from one part of the deck to another.

According to the sources...actually, source, they were to ambush a certain ship to cut the King's supply lines, and some rather important resistance was to be expect. He spared a side glance to the pirate sisters in charge of operation, both drop dead gorgeous and...was he losing footing?

He made a curse as the staff of the broom tilted upwards, being sprung by the careless foot he had placed upon it. A loud sound was heard as the wood hit him in the side of the face, and comments along the lines of "What an Idiot" were heard. Robert sighed and resumed his task, not bothering to answer back to the taunts.

It was going to be a sucky day...

Duncan was waiting around, thinking about the mission. He knew this kind of ambushing mission called for a certain amount of stealth and delicacy, and he had to wonder why they chose a guy like him for something like this. He was a big bruiser, not the type that was usually brought into missions like this one. All the same, he would do his best to make sure that he could fulfill whatever role was chosen for him.

For now, he just waited for the right time to act, as it seemed that something like a convoy had come into town. It would definitely be the kind of thing that would be considered important enough for them to raid it.

The Land Ambush

As the convoy moved along, the guards took notice of the person walking along the path behind them. They mostly ignored him, what with this being a public road and he was alone, and in the open.

They continued to move along, and they would of course eventually pass the point where everyone in waiting could make their move.

There were three covered carts with the rare metals, several soldiers on horseback, at least one guard per cart, and a single archer standing behind the driver of each cart.

As they came closer, some conversation between the guards could be heard, "No, your brother's in prison?" A male soldier.

The female archer responded, "Yeah, they figured out he was the one who killed that one guy, a member of that so called "Nameless Rebellion","

"But if he's a rebel, surely it's ok to kill him? The guy's related to a soldier of the army!" The man sounded indignant.

"Nah, turns out the rebel had connections. Managed to get cleared of being a rebel, which meant my brother was sent straight to prison," The woman was spiteful, clearly, and her eyes narrowed.

"That's rough..."

As they finally reached into position, Jessica lit the tips of her fingers with fire. Not enough light to catch any attention, thanks to it being day, and with this little bit it would be easier to build up the actual attack. She hated moments like this, the moment right before a fight... she would try her best not to hurt someone, but with fire, it spread so easily, so...

Whoever wants to make the first move and actually posts first can go ahead and do so. I would prefer it to be a character that would actually make the first move, aha. For the reactions of the NPC Soldiers, you can do a bit yourself with the obvious reactions, but I'll take control of the main portion of their return fire

A clean sweep, from the trees into the path of the caravan. Treia was the first to move, her knife hidden away as she approached the caravan. Her tone was weakened, she appeared to be nothing more than a traveler along the roads. She approached silently, hailed the guards as she did so. When she was a close as she could dare, even close enough to touch the forefront of the caravan, she made her move. It was simple enough, no application of lethal force necessary. That would fall to the others. A burst of blinding light, which Treia shut her eyes against but the guards would most likely have not enough time to react to before their retinas were seared by the intensity.

She promptly hit the ground, knowing whichever guards weren't blinded by the flash would be shooting at her first. Hopefully those idiots would act in time.

Rex shot out of the undergrowth like a rocket, tackling and slashing at one soldier before jumping off his chest, his feet breaking several of the man's ribs as he did so. He dashed wildly through the ranks, slashing at the soldiers, always moving, never stopping. He howled as he pushed the attack, a bloodcurdling howl meant to throw the enemy off guard.

Kworein stood atop the main mast of the Wandering Whore, his wings helping him to keep his balance. The young dragon gazed at the horizon, grinning as his eyes scanned the waters for the ship they were after. He looked up a moment, staring at the birds in the sky, so peaceful, so innocent, he almost wished he could join them...

He fell backwards, and with one flap of his wings, he flipped upright and glided gently down to the deck. He vaguely heard someone mutter 'showoff' or something similar, but ignored it and looked back to the waters. Still no sign of the enemy ship.

Duncan was ready to attack as soon as he saw a bright flash of light. He had a feeling he knew what person was causing that, and so he decided to go and attack. He drew Durandal, making sure his heavy steel armor was all in place, and then ran over to have vengeance for his family. A sister forced to prostitute herself to bring home dinner, a father and mother fighting...the King was to blame for this all! He let out bottled up fury with a vengeance, mowing down soldiers in huge swings of Durandal. Armor would not save them, if it was not strong enough. Anything less than steel folded against the force and cutting power of Durandal, especially with his muscles backing each swing.

He would see that the King be given a message, that you can mess with Duncan O'Cennaire all you wish, but when you mess with Duncan's family, you have crossed the line. He had to wonder how many more would come charging out before they realized the futility of fighting him.

Seeing the flash and hearing the howls, Dagarent stood up and took off. No longer concerned with concealment, he broke free of the treeline. Even though he had been further in than anyone else, he more than made up for it with his enormous gait. Pointing his staff forward, he ran towards the first guard he could see, and with a heave, swung it.

Tarlin would've been happy to rush out and attack like the rest, but she'd seen the archers and knew they had priority over the other soldiers. Grumbling she adjusted her aim until she was pointing straight at the first wagon's archer, then released the bowstring, and with it an arrow aimed straight for the enemy's throat.

Regardless of whether it hit its target or not she charged through the undergrowth, nocking another arrow as she went. Once she had a good view of another of the archers she stopped and fired, repeating the process and getting closer to the wagons with each fired arrow.

Ignatius continued on following the convoy, not being considered a threat, until it was ambushed. While he had not been expecting anything of this scale, he showed no signs of suprise or confusion and although aware of the danger, showed no fear, or indeed any emotion whatsoever.

He stopped and thought briefly about the best course of action. He did not know who would win, so siding with either side would be illogical, and running away from an ambush could give the impression he was with the ones being ambushed. If he remained, there could be spoils but there would be danger. He could attempt to take shelter, but that also would make him look aligned with one side as the carts and the trees were the only locations on the road where he could hide. As such, in a swift, cold movement, he threw himself to the ground behind the carts to attempt to avoid getting hit or being run into.

Baleust fired immediately after the flash. Quick, yet precise. He reloaded and fired whenever he had a good shot. Some of his allies went into close combat already. It tempted him to do so as well as there could've been the risk of friendly fire, but he chose not to. He had a decent spot where he could still have a good vantage point while having some cover in the grass.

The Guards' response was trained, and careful. The closest couple of soldiers and most effectively one archer were blinded, as well as the driver of the front caravan.

There were mages among the soldiers, however, and were able to protect the ones closest to them from the blinding flash. Some arrows just narrowly missed the one who blinded the soldiers, but then there were arrows from the trees, and a hulking man and a full blown giant ran out and started hitting the group. The Giant's attack in particular sent the driver and an archer flying off, and knocked the cart over. Then of course Jessica had used the others as a distraction to make her way to the back of the group and set the back of each covered cart on fire, removing any cover the enemies could use. She wasn't one to kill, let the others do that.

It was tough for the ones defending to react in any way, but after a few soldiers were taken down, things started happening. Plants gathered at Duncan's feet, and held him in place as one of the mounted knights charged at him with a lance. A black energy started to surround Dagarant's head, and it seemed that it might try to choke him. A knight hit Rex with an enchanted shield upon his attempt to attack the knight, and it would send him reeling backwards. The knight then charged at the werewolf, sword drawn.

Arrows were shot back into the treeline, but this was nearly a futile effort as it would be easier to avoid attacks whilst within the trees.

Ignatius, meanwhile, went entirely unnoticed so far...

Duncan stood his ground, and moved when the lance was about to strike. He tilted himself to the side to avoid the attack and then slashed at the wooden hilt of the lance with Durandal, ripping through it. He then brought the sword back down and hacked the enemy knight's head off of his shoulders.

The plants on the ground were not a big threat when he was as strong as he was, and his movement was, while slowed down a little, not too badly affected.

Dagarent immediately stopped charging as he felt the dark force gripping around his neck. Dropping to his knees, he firmly planted his staff in the ground. Tightly gripping it, he started focusing all of his willpower into a very basic, though familiar, barrier against evil. "By the fourth light of Rakrynetend, BEGONE". With luck, he'd be able to fill his lungs after that shout.
