"The best teachers aren't the best in their field, Lucky, unless their field is teaching," Aqua pointed out, floating out of her bowl and dripping water onto the newcomer's clothing as she seated herself upon one of his shoulders. She obviously wasn't going to stop calling him that... which may have been because she disliked long names or because she kept forgetting them. Either worked.
Too many Nakajimas. :p Fixed.
She shook his hand carefully. The cyborg hands were not very good at things like that, and the mechanical nature of the arms could be felt in the slightly stiff and clumsy handshake. She smiled, though, despite his mispronunciation of her name.
"Well, I'm looking forward to fighting together with you, then."

Lucius turned to Mia. "Hello there," he said, not unkindly. "Who are you? As I've said but a moment ago, I am Lucius Annaeus Astra Seneca, Forward Attacker. I was transferred here from Major Genya Nakajima's 108th battalion."
If he noticed the Device sitting on his shoulder (and soaking his uniform in the process) it did not show on his face.

He took Clavidos out of his pocket; currently, it looked like a dog tag with its name on it in Mid-Childan script and a blue crystal in its middle. "This here is Clavidos," said Lucius. "An appropriate name, since his main form is that of a glaive."
"I am honoured to meet you, Masters," it said.

On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home."My focus is in ranged combat," Feiana said, adding to the explanations of abilities being given by the team members, "So, I take command of the ranged team members. As a melee-focused combat mage, you'll be answering to Aqua-cha-Captain Aqua."
She figured she would clarify this.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up.""I see," said Lucius. He looked at the Unison Device that sat on his shoulder, and could not help but raise his eyebrow - proof that while he was pretty Stoic, his training was far from complete.
"You... are a melee mage?" he asked Aqua at length.
"Don't call me a mage! I'm a knight, a knight!" Aqua insisted, floating to in front of the new recruit and frowning at the improper terminology. Mage... she was an Ancient Belkan practitioner, even though the 'ancient' bit was only a few years old, and therefore not a mage! Wizard or knight, yes, but not a mage.
If Lucius was surprised before, it paled before his wonder now. His left eyebrow ticked.
"Ehhh?" he said. "You're... You're telling me that you are an Ancient Belkan Unison Device who is also a melee-range knight? Ehh? Ma'am, this is... This... I have no idea what to say."
"Fate moves in mysterious ways, my Master," said Clavidos.
Lucius took a deep breath, visibly calming himself, then looked at Aqua again.
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home."Want me to prove it to you? Kabbelung!" Aqua said, being surrounded by what had to be the smallest ball of light to ever result in a barrier jacket. When the Navy Blue light had faded, the Unison Device was clad in her (admittedly ridiculous) barrier jacket and her device was equipped, which was good for her and bad for Lucius due to the fact that his captain had just opted to kick him in the chest.
At least it couldn't hurt that much without magic backing it up.
"That hurt," deadpanned Lucius. He calmly got out of his seat and fingered Clavidos. "I do think that this isn't the place for a mock battle, ma'am, but if you wish for it... Clavidos?"
"Stand-by," intoned the Device.
"Set up!" ordered Lucius. There was a ball of light, and when it faded, Lucius was dressed in his Barrier Jacket, holding Clavidos's Glaiveform. "Well, ma'am?" he asked quietly.
"Kabbelung Eins!" Aqua said in response, blue glow briefly enveloping her body, "Unison!"
Lucius was going to get to experience several things: firstly, that hitting a flying, fast-moving target about half a foot high was nigh impossible, especially without practice; next, that Aqua was the melee captain for a reason; and finally, that the misleading cry of 'unison' meant really bad things for his combat endurance. It was entirely possible to keep fighting in melee without magic but doing so sacrificed practically all defence and any boosts to physical capabilities, which was a problem.
Naturally, the café's owners had started to pull the tables back. This wasn't the first time such a thing had happened...
Feiana took an unsure step back. Her fellow captain was always so impulsive... A precautionary measure should be taken, she reasoned. She should be able to bind them, if things got out of hand too quickly.
"Reverse Driver, unlock," she ordered, looking down at the gem on her wristband.
"Yes, master."
All at once, and orb of blue magical shielding surrounded Feiana. Within, her clothing was shredded away. It was lucky, really, that the shredding effect didn't actually destroy her clothes. Reverse Driver's gem core drifted up, and the device quickly assembled itself around it. Feiana took it in hand, and her barrier jacket began to activate. First, the lowest layer appeared on her body, the bathing suit-like one. Then the skirt and shirt, and then the jacket. Finally, the kneesocks and the boots appeared.
The orb shattered, and Feiana stood at the ready to bind the smaller captain and the new recruit if things got out of hand.
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Ever-calm, at Aqua's cry Lucius jumped. It was an impressive one, for it launched him ten metres into the air; he landed lightly, then immediately jumped again, this time flying a short distance to alight on a nearby building's roof.
"Calivods! Mode two!" he said.
"Schwertform," intoned the Device as its form changed into that of a sword.
"I guess I'll have to randomly attack him a lot?" Aqua said, apparently thinking out loud. This kind of weakness was unforgivable! Even if it was extremely unlikely another melee-oriented Unison Device would show up, he had to be prepared for the possibility! "Umm... someone pick Lucky up... and has anyone got a spare pocket? I need to read a map..."
"On it, captain."
Frieda went over to help Lucius back on his feet, struggling slightly to keep back a laugh.
"Now now, back on your feet, soldier! The mission hasn't started yet!"

"Standby mode, Clavidos," he said, and the Device transformed into its dog-tag form again; Lucius's Barrier Jacket disappeared, replaced by his normal uniform-and-longcoat combination. He dusted the coat, then thanked Frieda with a small bow.
"Well, that certainly surprised me," he said. "I did not fight indoors often."
He turned to Aqua. "I've quite a few spare pockets, ma'am; also, I stand corrected. You are indeed, a melee-oriented knight. I would very much like to spar with you in an open space, ma'am."
Feiana was in midst of apologizing to the cafe owners, having deactivated Reverse Driver and her barrier jacket. After that was finished with, she turned around and addressed her team. "Well, um... now that... that's over with... Um... let's go!"
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."

Master Sargent is Ginga. Genya is a Major.
Lucius touched his forehead, then offered his hand. "Nice to meet you, Freida. As Aqua knows, I am a Front Attacker."
He looked around. "Are we waiting for anyone else?" he asked.
