William reached the edge of the church camp just as a bank of unnaturally dark clouds started rollong in with an equally unnatural speed. He accosted a servant. "Bring this man to a healing tent!" He laid his burden down carefully and showed the symbol of the Inquisition. "I'm going to be needed somewhere else I'm sure," He said and left to look for his superiors.
Trump delenda estSir Tequila looked at the sky morosely. Typical, she'd been in a position to get a large quantity of money for little effort and some demented mage just had to spoil things for her by introducing a cloud with unnaturally fearful properties. Pity she couldn't remember any means of dispelling things other than 'attempt to overpower whoever's doing the casting'. That path was a waste of effort, often as not.
"He.... returns?" said Samantha, eyes casted down as she saw the desperate man cling to her robes... a few seconds before the aura of fear reached her and darkness swept the whole camp. Instinctively, her hand reached for the symbol of the Goddess hanging from her neck, as the young pilgrim glance up at the dark heavens.
Goddess, gives us strength..
A Young priestess came and took care of the wounded man, she too was obviously scared by what was going on but a mans life was more important.
Colin soon found another mage who looked as worried as he did "Colin, you know what's going on?!" The other mage asked looking around cautiously.
Luckily the shopkeepers didn't notice the little girl stealing the knife, being far too busy being terrified by the cloud overhead
Then the first black lightning bolt hit. The shockwave as it struck the ground tossed the people nearby back several meters and from the burning patch rose an strange creature up, it had scales like obsidian with light grey-green skin. From it's face, right under it's beady green eyes, a broad mouth filled with needle-like teeth with dripping saliva stretched itself outwards like that on a crocodile or some kind of carnivorous fish, it stood on two muscular legs, towering above any man, and balanced by a thick and long tail. It's long arms ended in a hand-like appendage adorned with curved claws.
Lightning crackled between it's tail and taloned feet as it approaches a woman paralysed in terror, the beast hissing as it's jaws opened up around the woman's head while it's claws held her in place, penetrating the clothes and the skin into the flesh, causing blood to well fourth.
The Black Lightning began to strike down everywhere, each one bringing down a beast to the ground. Then the screaming began as the people realized what was going on and so started to panic.
Then the crazed man seemed to somehow come to his senses and quickly rose up.
"Quick we need to get to the tournament fields! It's probably the safest place to be right now with all the fighters!" He told the young pilgrim whose dress he had clutched to. He looked around, obviously afraid but driven. "Hey you!" He called out to William "Come with us! We may need a sword!"

As he joined the strange man and the younmg woman William asked, "Who are and what do you know of this?" As he spoke he drew both his sabre and his dagger but not before pulling out his Amulet of Protection and touching the crystal in the center activating it. He also mumbled the activation phrase for his Eye of Truth so he could verify whatever story the stranger chose to tell. Or at least verify that the stranger believed it.

Trump delenda estDemons from the dark coming to attack in the Goddess's greatest day? H-How can this be possible?
Samantha was frightened by the fearsome apparition, however as the man she tried to console tried to bring her to the relative safety of the tournament fields she grabbed her spear and looked around her "Yes but... these people! I-I can't run away and leave them behind"
"I don't know either, we have to g..."
Before Colin could finish his response, a lightning bolt hit nearby summoning a monster. The agent got out his crossbow and fired at the beast, the bolt heading towards the area between it's two eyes.

Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree."These things are ugly," Sir Tequila mused, emerging from the pavilion she had been waiting in and drawing her sword. That woman was dead—rather messily so, given the amount of blood—but the people running past her seemed like they'd be fine. Now... how many of the things would she get to kill before force of numbers overcame skill and she was turned into an impromptu meal? It was annoying when that happened but armour got in the way of running quickly.
George sat straight up, as something loud had just awoken him from his nap. He clutched his head, it was aching and the wonderful fogginesses of the alcohol had disappeared. As he rubs his eyes he looks straight up, seeing the large dark ominous cloud. He jumps to his feet, there was something wrong here. He hears the people's screams and noises from something he's never heard before, scaring him to the bones. He runs out and sees the horrible beasts, and the young church woman he think he helped before. She's apparently with two other people but only one appears able to fight, he fights his better judgment to flee, as she had been kind to him and given him money. He runs over and pulls out his umbrella, as he asks them "Hey, what iss going on here!? What is happening?!"
“I'm bad and that's good. I will never be good and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.” ―Bad-Anon creedThe crossbow bolt managed to pierce the skin of the beast but it shattered against the skull. Dark-red blood flowed down from the wound between the eyes and dripped down to the ground. It began to hiss before roaring and charging on all fours towards the attacker.
"Look, if you die now you won't be able to help anyone later! Besides, there will be people to help at the tournament fields!" The previously despaired man almost shouted to the young pilgrim before he turned to William "I am Heran, a servant of the lord of Mekashi in the south-east, but we do not have the time for introductions right now!". Then lightning stroke not to far away from them and the priestess who where carrying Spoiler was knocked away, dropping her cargo. This time the beast went for the defenceless man and started to tear away at his body, ripping him apart and throwing away the pieces as the young priestess watched in horror.
Elizabeth found find herself running towards the tournament fields where the various fighters were actually managing to hold the monsters at bay, The White Cloaks, the Emperor's personal bodyguard and amongst the most elite fighters in the entire kingdom, were particularly doing well with their glaives and their new and expensive arquebuses.
The lich, seeing that her particular talents—specifically, a fighting style that assumed everything around her was a viable target and intended to take full effect of the psychological impact of a flaming weapon—weren't necessary at the moment, hung around uncertainly, waiting for something to attack her so that she could split its head in two. Fighting with wooden swords was so unsatisfying, especially when they didn't have the curve that she loved.
"B-But..."
Sam didn't have much grounds to argue with the man. The creatures... those demons were everywhere. She couldn't hope to be able to hold them back from all the running people as they ran for safety...
Still, the moment she saw the demon rip that man apart and the priestess scream in horror, she knew that even if she couldn't help them all, at the very least she should save one person. Sam dashed to the priestess' side, grabbing hold of her hand to pull her to safety as they ran to the tourney's grounds.
It was a good shot and it did nothing. It might take too long to reload his crossbow and going against that creature in close combat would be downright dangerous. There was no choice, he would have to cast a spell. If one of those church zealots saw it, they could ignorantly say that he was the cause of the attack but when you are being attacked by a beast like this, there's no other choice.
He uttered his spell and before the creature got too close, an Energy Ball shot out of his hands and headed straight at the creature.
Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.

Then suddenly the man sighed deeply and seemed to calm down. "It's too late."
Then everything fell silent and died down as a large shadow fell over the festival. Even the winds that had been a light breeze until now faded away. In the end there was no trace of there ever having been a children's laugh or a fiddlers music.
Those the looked up could see an enourmuous stormcloud having silently drifted over the festival and with it it brought an unnatural aura of fear.
(mood music)
"It's too late... too late, it is already here..." The insane man whispered questly into Samantha's chest before he fell on his knees crying, clutching to the cloth of Samanthas robes. "...I was too late... There was nothing I could do... Now we will all die in a flood of blood as They return to reclaim what's theirs... When He returns."
