Shy fluttered toward the sign that was beginning to amass attention and his eyes widened as he read it. The barbarian tribes. Get rid of them. Big surprise. Shys, being a former member of one of these tribes, was used to such sentiments and hostility.

But they were more frequently becoming his lunch, now that they were at war. Things were getting very tense. Democracy was suggested with increasing infrequency. Because after all, WHAT would barbarians know of democracy and peace, being, well, barbarians?

If Shys had fists, he would have clenched them. He made due with his teeth instead. Shys wanted to prove to this kingdom that so-called barbarians were not in any way EVER deserving of being eradicated, being displaced, being ‘rid of’. Obstinately, the Shuppet shouted, “I’m in!”

"I-I'll come too. I n-need to b-buy more seeds, a-and a new h-hoe." Said Ag, having also read the poster. he sincerely hoped they could use diplomacy, rather than force. He hated fighting.

"I h-hope they'll l-listen to r-reason... I don't w-want to f-fight..." He added softly.

Zaubrio and Kal

"Uh, I don't know," Kal replied to Gazlamp's question. A further awkward silence was luckily prevented by Ag and Shys floating over.

"I'd come, but I'll have to ask my uncle." Kal was gone quickly enough that one might think he already knew ExtremeSpeed.

"Hey, Uncle! That Gallade just posted a notice from the king! There's a reward for whoever deals with some barbarians. My new friends are going. Can we go too?"

Zaubrio looked down at his hyper nephew. "Kal, we just got here. And I can't take you into danger like that."

Kal crossed his arms, "you used to deal with the barbarians back home. Or were you lying?"

"That's different. Those pokemon knew our family and our job. Whatever barbarians you're talking about won't."

“Of course they will, Ag.” Shys told him very emphatically; even though he wasn’t specifically the type anyone listened to. The farmer didn’t want to fight, and Shys believed him. A strong fully-evolved Gengar probably could blast whatever he wanted to, excluding the unlikely appearance of a Electrode tribe.

“Yeah, for 1000 Pokes,” Shys spoke casually, trying a little too hard to deflect whatever personal motive he may have had. “I could buy a bunch of…” Making up something on the spot wasn't easy- seeds, hoes, berries, “Chesto berries. Yup, that’s what I want!”

Of course, what a Pokemon that literally does not sleep, due to insomnia effect, would need Chesto berries for was any one’s guess.

"So you're all going to try and get the reward? Need a medic?"

Gazlamp paused for a moment and then reconsidered his position. "Actually, scratch that. I've made a terrible medic so far. Do you need anyone with defensive moves and long range attacks?"

Shys sighed. For a lamp, that guy over there was definitely pouring a bucket of cold water on his parade. He just finished trying to convince Ag that just maybe the barbarians weren’t dangerous savages that will instantly rip you from limb from limb (A figure of speech in his case).

This mission was doomed from the beginning. The democracy route was almost a joke. No matter how politely they’d ask- their intentions would be clear. Could you please move out of your home where you’ve raised your children? Our wealthy kingdom is somewhat inconvenienced and would like to expand. As sure as the great dragon has no arms, they would almost certaintly need someone with defensive abilities and long range attacks.

"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Lamp! My name is Shys, I’d shake your hand- but well-" (Honestly, Why did every ghost EVER have hands but him!). “May I ask what you would do with your reward money?” The lampent was trying to order drinks earlier so surely he already was the kind with money. The thief shuppet hovered around him trying to see where he kept his coins.

"I'm saving up for something important." was all he said. In reality, he was interested in purchasing a very rare, very valuable scroll from a merchant in Avalmon. So rare in fact, that though there were many of it's kind, this particular scroll was irreplaceable. "You said you have a plan as to how we could placate them diplomatically?"

“Do you have any plans, Mr. Lamp?” Shys continued looking at the lamp with curiosity, making it more and more obvious he wasn’t listening. He was just wondering where a lamp would keep money.

“To be honest, I don’t see why anyone should leave-” but realizing his mistake, started speaking quite loudly about his obvious disdain for barbarians that he was supposed to have. After all, he just took a mission, for Chesto berries, which he definitely DID eat, and he was definitely NOT going to sabotage that mission or anything of the sort.

“Um, I mean, Of course, they should leave! Those barbarians! Doesn’t it just burn you up? No offense to you, Mr. Lamp.”

Ji, having very recently arrived in town, decided that he could go for a drink. Locating the nearest inn, Ji went inside. Sitting down on a stool by the counter, Ji couldn't help but notice that everyone else in the bar seemed to be in a buzz over something.

Geting the attention of a Lampent next to where he was, Ji asked "What's everyone so excited about?"

"10000 Poke reward for pacifying some barbarians. Although there seems to be some disagreement on how exactly to do so." He paused for a moment to take a sip of his drink but quickly remembers he never ordered one when he sees no glass. "I've really got nothing against them, so if diplomacy works, I'm all for it. I just figure that either the description is biased or it's a bad idea to go in defenseless, and that I'd rather not find out which is true the hard way."

"10000 poke, huh? That kind of money could buy you several bushels of sweet sweet pecha berries." Ji said, contemplating. "Well, I for one have met some prety cool barbarians on my travels. Buuuut..." Ji took out a small almost empty sack. "My funds are getting pretty close to zero, so what the hey, I'll give it a go".

"Why does everyone say a thousand? It clearly has four zeroes, not three. Unless you were referring to each person's share?"
