Aurus was not pleased.

The Lucario king looked out the window of his castle and sighed. Those Glitches and barbarians are poised to overrun everything... and no one is doing anything about it.

"Something wrong, Aurus?"

He turned and noticed a Zoroark approaching him. He smiled.

"Ah, Shade, my queen. Glad you aren't impersonating anyone today."

"I can tell you're already in a bad mood."

Aurus sighed again and turned back to the window.

"It's just that there are so many threats to this kingdom... and I don't know what to do about them."

"Why don't you ask some adventurers to help?"

Aurus suddenly turned around and hugged his queen.

"Yes of course! Why didn't I think of that sooner? I'll send a messenger immediately!"

"Yeah... could you lay off the hugs? It's bad for our image..."

In a bar somewhere, a bunch of adventurers are boisterously chatting and bragging about past deeds.

Feel free to get started and establish your characters.

The door of the inn was pushed open by a green balloon hand, and a Reuniclus floated through. On his head was a black hat, and on top of that was a Riolu. The little emanation pokemon was looking wide-eyed at everything.

"Why are we here?" the child asked, interrupting the elder's monologue on the history of Avalmon.

"-attacked again - oh? Hopefully, we'll get a room here, Kal."

"Okay Uncle. I'm gonna look around," Kal said as he slipped off the hat and landed gracefully on the floor.

"Don't go too far," Zaubrio replied absent-mindedly as he went to rent a room from the innkeeper.

Sir Attor the Blue, knight of Lady Sanies, defender of the weak and hero to the downtrodden, sat in the corner poring over maps. Surely SOMEONE knew the location of a moonstone!

Tammuz waited.

That was all it had been doing lately. Waiting. Waiting for what, it wasn't sure. Another master to come along and put it to work, perhaps, though at this point their efforts at forcing it into labor were far from appreciated. More often than not, they took one look at it and turned tail. This always managed to spark something in Tammuz's mind, an emotion that it had seen and felt but never acted upon. Still, it admitted that it was not the best candidate for the work they desired. Though it required no food or pay and only a few day's maintenance, it's hulking frame was ill-suited for delicate household work. The life of a servant was not one that it was made for. It was built for war and transport, though from what it could remember the Maker hadn't used it much for either of those things. More often than not, he, for the Maker was most definitely a he, had put it work with heavy lifting, hefting blocks of sandstone or heavy crates over its head.

But now was not the time to ponder. Now was the time for waiting and Tammuz was nothing if not aware of duty. The wooden chair and the floor beneath it creaked under its weight. It's head scraped the roof and its eyelights shone a baleful yellow. The other Pokemon in the room, for the most part, ignored it, occasionally casting a wary glance in its direction. What was it doing there, they wondered. Tammuz didn't notice them. They weren't its problem and it wasn't their's. So long as it didn't cause any trouble, everything was good. And Tammuz was far from a troublemaker. Slowly, it brought its stone hands down on the table before it, palms flat and fingers spread wide. Someone would come eventually. That much it knew. They always came to it.

For now, all it could do was wait.

“Stop, thief!” Those were the shouts of a pokemon that, strangely enough, had little appreciation for being tricked roomed. Their speed was suddenly greatly reduced as the quick little ghost thief shot by him and sped off with their bag in his teeth, giggling. Shys escaped into the inn through the walls, and as soon as the infamous little Shuppet made it inside, he started sticking his tongue out the window at his latest victim.

Some patrons grumbled and kept their purses close, but this was a rather common place occurrence and Shys wasn’t going away, so all they could do was keep wary eyes on him. “I swear if ya try anything, I’ll have you hanged on my eave as a warnin’” Threats would certainly fall flat and be largely ignored by the ghost.

Shys scanned his surroundings, and found another that many were purposefully avoiding. Excitedly, the shuppet flew up to Tammuz. “Hello! What’s your name?” Some patrons chuckled. Surely, if the foolish boy pestered the giant, that little nuisance was going to get squashed flat for his trouble.

Tammuz turned to face the voice. Dull, baggy gray flesh, its form little more than a levitating blob. Another master, come to claim its services? No doubt. This one was small and weak and though it was likely that he could simply run and hide, he was in need of a guardian. Or perhaps he just wanted to make conversation. It didn't see why he'd want that. The Golurk had yet to grasp the intricacies of the verbal arts, in all their perplexing glory, and as such it wasn't exactly good with idle chatter.

Still, so sense in ignoring him. It spoke, it's voice at once rumbling and distant, like a rockslide heard through a metal tube. "Tammuz." It said simply. That was the name the Maker had given it and it felt obligated to keep it. It had grown attached to that moniker, as much as its masters insisted on calling it 'you' or 'servant' or whatever inane title they decided upon. It didn't hold much stock in titles. Names for names, that's all they were regardless of station or power.

“Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Tammuz! I’m Shys. I’d shake your hand, but –well.” Shys laughed, setting down his bag on the floor nearby and bobbing back up to eye level with a grin. Shys felt as though he and Mr. Tammuz were kindred spirits, pun very much intended. Shys was a highly emphatic pokemon that could sense emotions. His primary food source was negative emotions (Which is why, unfortunately enough, he had such a natural gift at making people angry.)

However, he sensed no negativity from Tammuz…or positivity, for that matter. It was rather curious, Shys had never before met a purely unemotional being before. He gave a slight frown. “Are you waiting for someone? You seem rather bored.”

"Not Mister Tammuz. It corrected. "Tammuz." How often it was that other Pokemon got that wrong. Some of them, the more informal ones with too-wide grins and quick fingers, called him things like 'Tammy' and 'big guy'. And every time it would correct them. It really didn't understand the fixation on false names that other Pokemon seemed to have but like most things it wasn't anything to ponder for extended periods.

"Tammuz is waiting. For new master." Tamuz said, its posture ramrod stiff, no inflection in its rumbling voice. A poker-face, they had told it, that's what it had. Though it doubted it could have such a thing when it barely had a face to begin with.

“Oh!” Shys swiveled back to where Tammuz was facing. He spotted other interesting characters, such as a knight pouring over a map. “There has to be someone here you can help.” He suggested helpfully, although had no clue what kind of work someone would have for a ghostly giant. Maybe slay demons? Reach things on the top shelf?

Shys realized with great disappointment that he couldn’t be a Golurk master- as tempting as it was to have an assistant with arms. It couldn’t fit very easily into attics and probably wasn’t very good at pulling pranks.

“Oh.” He gave a small frown, a empowering feeling radiating throughout the inn by the patrons explained why the golurk had yet to be employed. “They’re scared of you.” Shys explained.

Ag nervously hovered in the corner of the tavern, near the Shuppet and Golurk. Them being ghost-types, like he was, calmed him somewhat. He still wasn't used to actually talking to others, but he supposed it was worth a shot to at least try and talk to them.

"He-hello..." He said softly, approaching Shys and Tammuz. "I-I was h-hoping to meet new friends h-here, and w-we're all ghosts, s-so I th-thought... I d-dunno..." He trailed off, looking at the two nervously.

“No need to be nervous!” Shys laughed. He was very surprised that so many ghost-type were in one place, this had to be the work of the great dragon himself! “What’s your name? And if I may say so, nice hat!” He gaped in awe at the straw hat. Since he had a horn, hats wouldn’t have worked on him, sadly.

"I-I'm Ag. Ag Hast. Nice to m-meet you." He smiled, slightly, his hand reaching up to feel the familiar straw. "A-and thanks. I always wear this hat, since I, uh, had a garden, so I had to go out a lot during the day. I w-wove it myself."

Zaubrio and Kal

Kal wandered across the room to the table where the ghost types were talking. He liked ghost types, they reminded him of granddad. He quietly hopped onto a stool and watched the conversation. He'd met Gengar and Shuppets before, but not the third one. Kal looked curiously at the large ghost, his rudimentary aura skills told him it was ghost, but it seemed far more solid than it ought to be.

"Excuse me, sir," Kal said to the large ghost, "What kind of ghost are you? You seem really heavy."

Zaubrio meanwhile had been successful in renting a room for him and his nephew. The little bit of his brain that kept track of the Riolu pegged him as still being in the room, so he wouldn't worry yet. The travelling hedge-wizard looked around the room, he supposed he might as well talk to someone. Maybe see if there was any work? Though, he felt so out of his depth in a city like Avalmon. Well there was a Nidorino looking at maps, maybe Zaubrio could be of some help.

The Reuniclus floated over and introduced himself, "Zaubrio Geisterstunde, formerly of Tasche. Are you planning an expedition?"

“A garden? How wonderful!” Shys smiled at the farmer. He personally couldn’t stand going out in the daylight either. Ironically enough, the both of them had the potential to learn sunny day. Nature really enjoyed playing pranks, after all.

“His name is Tammuz.” Shys explained with excitement. Shys shared at least the Riolu’s maturity level if not his age, when it came to curiosity about the strange giant. “He’s waiting for a master. He doesn’t like to be called ‘sir’…well, he doesn’t dislike it either.” The Shuppet added, still clearly thrown off by the lack of emotion from the strange creature.

Sir Attor looked up from the map, grinning.

"Hail, good sir! I am indeed planning an expedition, but so far my sources have been inconclusive on my destination. I seek a Moon Stone, that I might evolve and hold a better chance at advancing myself in the court of Lady Sanies so I might better serve her. However, the Clefairy are tight-lipped, and I am unable to find a Wigglytuff."

"Yeah, my g-garden sort of got b-blown up, though. I, uh, s-startled an Electrode, and, well... yeah." Ag said, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. He turned his attention to the newcomer, biting his lip slightly at the question.

"He's a Golurk, I think. I've only heard stories about them, though, so I'm not sure..."

Zaubrio and Kal

"Hmmm..." Zaubrio pondered, "you could also look for a Munna or a Skitty, they'd have an interest in finding one too. Though I read once that Lunatone know where to find them too. Other than that, they just tend to turn up, where shooting stars land."

Kal snickered a little at the Gengar's confession, but tried to keep quiet. Ghost pokemon were notorious for grudges and slights. "Golurk," Kal repeated, testing the word on his tongue. Then nodded, it fitted Tammuz well.

“Where are you staying now, Mr. Hast?” Shys asked. He wandered into trouble quite a few times following his own hungry stomach, and thanks to a little move called Explosion, electrodes were off his menu (well, for now. Or at least until the ghost thief could figure out how to outrun one).

It wasn’t hard to imagine that an Explosion could do far more than wipe out more than a few crops, but cause heavy property damage as well. The farmer must have been like him, essentially homeless and looking for work.

Gazlamp walked into the inn, or rather, floated. Apparently it had started raining heavily outside, but instead of being dripping wet, steam radiated off him.

He wandered over to the bar, looked at the available beverages, and decided it was probably best not to order anything at all. "Water, wine and ale. Typical. They should make a recipe for a hot drink that wakes you up..." Gazlamp muttered.

Sorry for the delay, Real Life and other R Ps and all that getting in the way >_<

A Gallade walks discretely into the inn. Ignoring all the commotion, he posts a sign on the wall and leaves.

The sign says this:

FROM THE KING AND QUEEN: THE BARBARIAN TRIBES OF THE GEMLEAF FOREST ARE PRESENTING A THREAT TO THE KINGDOM. A REWARD OF 10000 POKE WILL BE REWARDED TO THOSE WHO GET RID OF THEM, WHETHER THROUGH DIPLOMACY OR FORCE.

No problem. I can't seem to stay on track with my R Ps either...

Gazlamp looked over at the sign, reading it thoroughly.

"10000 Poke? Maybe if I had some backup, but not alone. I wonder if there's anyone here that is up to that kind of thing..."

Zaubrio and Kal

Kal's attention was caught by the Gallade, and he slipped off his stool to talk to him. They weren't exactly rare, but well the number of dawn stones floating around wasn't all that high. He didn't remember his dad much, and always thought he could learn more about him by asking the Gallade he met questions. He was learning not to, too frequently after they had talked for a while they looked at him funny and said something about his father being a Gallade being impossible. Then things got awkward if not dangerous.

Unfortunately, by the time Kal made it to where the Gallade had been, he had already left. All that was there was a Lampent. At least it was another (hopefully) interesting ghost.

"My uncle probably would go and talk to them," Kal said helpfully to the lamp pokemon. "Hi! I'm Kal. That's my uncle over there and there's some friends of mine I've been talking to over there." He said the last, pointing to each group in turn, getting a wave in reply from Zaubrio.

Zaubrio looked up from his conversation with Sir Attor. Something had grabbed Kal's attention. Oh, a Gallade. That would get the little mon's interest. The wizard heard his name, so waved.

And kept smiling even as he was reminded of his dear brother, Landler.
