Welp. Some of you may know (and this is a very small 'some') about the pair of roleplays that were being run on this site. They're dead now, but something about them just sparked my imagination. I already had permission to do a sorta-sequel, so, well, here we are.

Note: Though it's set in the same universe, it is essentially a separate story. Expect shoutouts and veiled references, but the plots will remain separate.

Anyway, if you're interested, post the following filled-out form in this thread.

  • Name:
  • Age: (Between 14 and 18)
  • Appearance:
  • Personality:
  • Important Notes:
  • History: (Optional)
  • Deck: (Just the theme is okay; you can edit in the actual cards later. Also note: NO XYZ MONSTERS. There is a plot-reason behind it. Just trust me.)

You'll note there's no dorm specified on the form. That's because I will be sorting you into what passes for dorms, based on the characters' personality. (It sounds complicated, but I promise it'll make sense later.)

Background: There's a newly-opened dueling academy situated among the fjords of Norway, opened to alter the fact that virtually every duelist worth a damn is based in Japan or the USA. An untested staff, the broad nationality of the students, and (of course) the machinations of spirits all point towards one thing: just because we're in Europe doesn't mean nothing exciting will happen.

To translate that into restrictions for creation: make a Harry Potter OC and slap a Duel Disk on them. Done.

Please make sure your posts are at least readable and understandable. This isn't a dueling RP as much as it is a plot RP, so ease off on the hardcore meta decks (go on DN for that). Ask other players before you do anything to their characters. This roleplay will involve teenage themes, card game seriousness, violence, spiritual fuckery, and mild language. Do not adjust your computer screen, for we control the horizontal and the vertical.

  • Name: Laura Metz
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance: Average build. Black hair with blonde dye streaks. Usually has a faint smile on her face. Wears the standard uniform, composed of a black shirt under a white sweatshirt paired with white pants.
  • Personality: Dynamic, explorative, very capable. Has a habit of getting into things that are over her head.
  • Important Notes: Yep, you're dealing with a gempek (GMPC). Don't worry; I'll be much too busy playing the staff to do anything important. Also, she had to sell her expensive cards like Kristya, Tour Guide and Chaos Sorceror to make tuition, which is why her deck is the way it is.
  • History: Laura made her name by buying three predesigned decks on the day of a minor dueling tourney, taking half an hour to familiarise herself with the rules and build her deck, and then winning the grand prize despite never having heard of Duel Monsters before. Because of an angry row with her parents (who wanted her to become a businesswoman), she was thrown out and forced to pay tuition on her own with her savings and what she could make by selling off her most expensive cards. Thus, she absolutely must graduate this year, or be thrown out onto the streets with no money and no home. (She would really rather you don't probe into her past, thank you.)
  • Deck: Sky Scourge Heralds. (She has no Duel Spirit. Links are not compulsory; I just forget what my cards do after a while.)

Monsters: 24

Spells: 13

Traps: 3

The discussion thread is over here, so go there and have a good yak about whatever.

IMPORTANT BACKGROUND INFORMATION: A while ago, the GM of the two original roleplays put up a ranking of how powerful certain Spirits were, to give the whole deal a bit of order. They are reproduced here to remind me that Duel Spirits cannot magic their way through everything and fix all the gaping plot holes.

  • The Winged Dragon Of Ra
  • The Wicked Avatar; Obelisk, Slifer
  • The Wicked Dreadroot, Eraser; Exodia (it's explicitly mentioned the God Cards are stronger than Exodia in the anime)
  • Planet Series; Signer Dragons and forms thereof; Sacred Beasts, Yubel — The Ultimate Nightmare; Most any other 'mythical' card ( e.g. The Aesir) goes either here or just below
  • Light & Darkness Dragon; Winged Kuriboh & forms, Kuriboh; Yubel and Terror Incarnate
  • Level 9 and up Duel Spirits
  • Level 7/8 Duel Spirits
  • Level 5/6 Duel Spirits
  • Level 4 Duel Spirits
  • All other Duel Spirits

Keep that in mind, yo.

The RP thread is here. Have fun, and just ask in the conversation thread if you need to know something!

A listing of who is in what Stream, to help you and me remember.

  • Cunning: Lina, Caitlin, Dima, Mikhail, Leo, Clyde.
  • Brave: Apollo, Shou, Hauna, Shannon.
  • Adroit: Daniel, Rodrigo, Laura.

To make character creation easier, here's the offer of study-letter your character received prior to the start of the semester.

Dear Prospective Student;

Over the past few months, a group of designated selectors — composed of professional duelists, dueling experts and specialist psychologists — has been monitoring the young duelists of the Scandinavian region and adjacent countries, and you have been chosen as one of the lucky eighty-four (84) people to be eligible for enrolment into the first-ever class of students at the Northern European Dueling School, also known inofficially as the Academia Scandinavia.

A: The Academy; Concept and Mission

This academy was founded as a way for young people of the European countries to be prepared for the world of professional dueling, due to the unfortunate geographical fact that the premier schools predominantly take in students from the countries surrounding the Pacific Ocean. As such, only the best of applicants from among hobby tournaments, youth competitions and dueling preparation schools are even offered this placing; thus, simply by receiving this letter, you have proven yourself to be head and shoulders above most other potential students.

In the past few years, a considerable amount of money donated by the governments of Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Poland, Scotland, England, Russia and Ukraine has been put to use to construct this academy and guarantee that the experience you gain here will serve you well in professional dueling circles. The teaching staff, in accordance with the newly-opened state of the academy, is small, but composed of alumni of such prestigious schools as Duel Academia, North Academy and other such institutions, and all have experience dueling and teaching at the highest levels.

B: Your Position In The Academy

Upon the processing of your details and the confirmation of your enrolment, you will then be sorted into one of three 'Streams', which are somewhat analogous of the Dorms of Duel Academia in certain aspects. However, the high requirement to become eligible for a position as a student at Academia Scandinavia rather invalidates the concept of differentiating students by skill; thus, the attached student-essential information sheet will have on it the name of the year group or 'stream' you have been placed in. The name of the stream you are placed in by the selectors will reflect your most valuable attribute and the one that will be of the most help to you, where the three possible placings are: Brave Stream, Devious Stream and Adroit Stream.

C: Items & Rules

The aforementioned sheet included in the envelope in which this letter came to you also contains a list of items which you will need to supply for yourself while you live at the academy. Use of any card in your deck which is Banned, usage of multiple copies of a card which is Limited, or usage of three copies of a card which is Semi-Limited according to the International Duel Monsters Banlist (copyright) will qualify you for immediate blacklisting and expulsion. In the case of a new format being issued, the date for change will be clearly indicated several weeks previously, and all students are permitted to possess, but NOT use, cards to a number which would be permitted in the next list but not in the current one to help adjust for the strategy changes a new format induces in the game of Duel Monsters. (For more information, refer to Doctor Nilsdottir, who will be heading a course termed 'Utility in Dueling: Tech Cards And You' in the school year.)

D: Arriving At The Academy

Seven (7) days prior to the term beginning on 2X/0X/20XX (DD/MM/YY), a flight will be departing from Oslo Airport, Gardermoen for a town from which the ferry to the location of the Academy departs. All students are thus required to be present at that location at twelve midday (1200 hours), local time with all items on the list. (Items marked with an asterisk on the list (*) are available to purchase at the airport by your own money at the time of writing. Money spent there will NOT be refunded by the academy.) A group of I.D.-carrying teachers and assistants will be present at the airport entrance and scattered throughout the arrival gates to guide you to your location.

E: Layout Of The Academy

The academy itself was constructed in just five years' time from scratch — an achievement indeed, considering the conventional architectural turnaround from blueprint to building. The central building (which contains the majority of the standard teaching rooms, the commons including the cafeteria and main assembly hall, the staff quarters and the technical support wing) is located in a clearing and is aligned towards a large lake with ocean access; one of the ancient fjords of the Scandinavian coastline. On all sides except the inlet, a mountain line, accented by glaciers surrounds the grounds.

Brave Stream members will reside in a hostel-like structure which is placed on the cliff edge which overhangs the edge of the cafeteria segment of the Great Hall (the collective name for the central complex). Devious Stream's quarters are built around and inside a cave system which begins fifty (50) metres mountain-wise from the inland-most wall of the Great Hall and terminates some two hundred metres (200) into the mountain. Adroit Stream members are to be housed in the large floating building roughly two-thirds of the way into the bay and situated to the right upon entry to the fjord, fifty (50) metres offshore. (For reference, the lake is roughly elliptical in shape with the thin section leading into the ocean and the entrance is thirty (30) metres across.) For the safety of the students, a clear distance must be kept from the entrance, as despite the lack of tidal activity, strong currents which can sweep a swimmer out and foil rescue efforts do abound.

F: How To Succeed — Graduation

The system used to define the graduating members of a year group is radically different to the existing ones you may have read about when researching other academies, though the initial methodology is largely similar: all duels logged in the official duel disk of the student (which will be issued upon your arrival at the ferry terminal - see section D) will award a certain number of points to the duelist and their dorm, depending on the result of said duels. Three (3) points are awarded for a win, one (1) point is awarded for a draw or a forced tie (zero (0) points are awarded for drawing with a person of the same Stream), and three (3) points will be deducted in the event of a loss.

Note that bonus points will be awarded for defeating a duelist of a higher rank, while the same number of points will be deducted in the case of a loss to a low-ranking duelist. Conversely, defeating a lower-ranked foe will result in a lesser reward in points and that less points will be deducted if you lose to a high-ranked foe. This scoring system is designed to motivate you to seek out higher-ranking students and adapt your strategies in order to cause a result which would be considered unlikely from the ranking point-of-view. Points can also be awarded for certain actions taken that demonstrate your level of skill and adeptness at operating within an adult environment. However, they will be deducted for prolonged inaction in interstudent duels, as well as far behaviour inappropriate for professional duelists.

Of the three Streams participating in the schooling, only one group will be permitted to graduate. This will be the Stream with the highest aggregate points scores of all students taken together. However, within a Stream, only the top fourteen (14) students will be eligible for graduation, and these fourteen must achieve a grade of 80% or better in all classes in order to fully qualify. In the case of the students being ineligible on grounds of failing to produce sufficient grades, the graduation position will be filled by the next-highest-scoring student from that Stream who can fulfil the academic requirement. The sixteen (16) highest-scoring students from the other two Streams (taken together, and based on the amount of points scored; the same academic result parameters apply as before) will meanwhile be given probationary passes for entrance to the final event of the schooling year; a round-robin tournament which goes for four (4) rounds of one (1) Match, after which the four top scorers in terms of Match Wins, then Duel Wins, then Life Points, then Number of Cards Negated will be granted full graduation honours. No other students may participate in the tournament.

This method of selecting graduates may seem rather restrictory, but is based around the problem of an overflow of tournament-qualified duelists who are still very inexperienced in terms of life in the current professional dueling circuit. The classes you will take during the two semesters are all compulsory. They include a range of subjects, from standard Dueling knowledge and advanced tactics, to the basics of economic independence, to physical fitness classes set in the grounds, and have been selected and balanced by experts to best prepare you for the varied range of qualities required of a self-dependent, adult professional duelist. The scoring system is further designed to prohibit students from dueling exclusively within their own dorm. To encourage the targeting of high-ranking students and a Darwinian approach to success, the point scores of the top ten duelists will be made easily and widely accessible on the Personal Dueling Assistants which will be distributed alongside your Duel Disks. Note that unless you are part of the academy's top ten highest-scoring students, your ranking will be kept a secret, even from yourself to avoid manipulation of the system.

All graduates from Academia Scandinavia will be sponsored by the governments that helped in constructing and funding the academy, and will be automatically entered in the junior stages of the Arctic Pro Circuit; the official extreme-northern-hemisphere dueling league and regional section of the Pro Leagues, where high-ranked duelists from Canada, Russia, Scandinavia and the Ukraine compete for glory and prizes. (To put it more directly, graduation will result in guaranteed acceptance to the Pro Leagues, and thus stringent selection methods must be used to assure that the graduates are prepared for self-sufficiency. If you are eligible for graduation but do not wish to proceed straight into the Arctic Pro Circuit, your invitation and position will be kept waiting for you until both you and your legal guardian agree that you are prepared for this step.)

The strict restrictions placed on graduating thus assure beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are prepared and ready to live in the Pro Leagues on your own; and failing to graduate after one year is far from failing in general. The students who do not pass the - admittably restrictive - requirements will be offered a guaranteed spot at the academy next year, and are also offered the opportunity to spend the gap between the end of the graduation ceremony and the beginning of the next semester at the summer lodge of the academy, located near the southern French-Mediterranean coastline in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

G: Punishments and Assurance of Fairness

To prevent abuse of the scoring system and purposefully ceding matches in a calculated manner, all logged results will be looked through by a part-time, constantly-changing group of anonymous professional duelists that have volunteered their time to advance the cause of fair dueling. Suspicion will be treated as proof due to the lack of communication possible between the students and the graders, and the analysts have been informed to be absolutely sure of their suspicion before contacting the Academy staff. Flouting the rules once will result in a heavy point deduction and a range of other punishments which will be administered at the headmaster's discretion. Doing so twice will result in first a review of your case by a tribunal of teachers, and if you are found guilty, you will be thrown overboard into the middle of the campus bay (In other words, into sub-zero temperature water) with only underclothing on. If you survive and break rank a third time, you will be expelled effective immediately and will have to vacate the grounds under your own merits and without any campus equipment. (For reference, the nearest human settlement is a four-day hike in Arctic conditions over unsteady and unmonitored terrain.)

H: Your Timetable

The standard class day will begin at 8am (0800 hours), on all weekdays except Friday (where classes will begin at 9.30am (0930 hours)). There will be a one-hour break to allow for lunch in the cafeteria at 12 noon (1200 hours), after which classes will resume at 1pm (1300 hours) and go until 5pm (1700 hours). After that point, free time for students will begin, but a headcount will be made at the commmons room at each respective Stream location at 10pm (2200 hours), half an hour before campus-wide lights out at 10.30pm (2230 hours). Not being at the commons room for the headcount will result in severe penalties, as search parties will be sent out for you unless a teacher contacts the main building prior to headcount and can give an accurate report on your current location (which must be with that teacher). Saturday will have classes running from 11am (1100 hours) to 3pm (1500 hours) with an hour break starting at 1pm (1300 hours), while Sunday is a day off for students.

During free time, the only locational constraints are that you not attempt to leave grounds or approach the exit of the fjord with the provided canoes. (These and other security-justified no-go zones are marked on your attached map of the campus.) Damage of academy property or any form of physical or emotional assault on other students or staff during this or any other time will be punished harshly. Also, if you must go swimming, wear safety equipment - including thermal gear, a whistle and an inflatable piece of clothing - have a staff member supervise you at all times, and restrict yourself to swimming in the map-marked sub-inlet to the left of the pier where the ferry arrives.

I: Major Events During The Year

A variety of events, some based around dueling, some physical, will be happening at the academy throughout it's first year of active use. None of these are compulsory, and to ensure a fair playing field, points will not be awarded for success at the athletic events (though other rewards will feature, such as an automatic passing grade with distinction in Physical Education if you should win two seperate athletic events). Among the athletic events, there will be rock-climbing, cross-terrain races and water sports like canoeing and swimming on offer. Meanwhile, the regional Liga Scandinavia Pro Dueling Circuit will be taking a tour of the academy during the latter half of the first school term, and will feature several high-stakes matches between major players during the pre-season of the Pro Leagues. (Students should note that increased points will be offered for wins or draws against professional duelists, as befits their status.)

J: Unique Rule Modifications

During a duel, oftentimes you are driven into difficult situations and be forced to make use of improvised strategies in order to claim victory. To better show off how radically strategies can be altered in various situations, the technical staff is proud to present a world-first alternate Duel Mode called 'Legendary Format'. With the consent of both players, the rules of the duel change as follows (all other rules are retained from Standard Advanced Format unless specifically said to be different):

  • Players start with 4000 Life Points, not 8000.
  • Players start with six (6) cards in their hand, not five (5).
  • All effect damage is halved rounding up, to prevent from unfairly skewing the format in favour of stall players. However, due to the reduced Life Point total given at the start, deck destruction cards do one-and-a-half times the number of mills stated. (Example: The effect of Needle Worm would send 7 cards from the top of the opponent's deck to the graveyard, instead of 5. Example: The effect of Ookazi would inflict 400 damage instead of 800.)
  • Monsters that are Special Summoned cannot attack in the turn they were first Special Summoned by their standard method. (Example: Colossal Fighter cannot declare an attack in the turn that it is Synchro Summoned, but if it Special Summons itself from the graveyard by its own effect, it may attack in that same turn. Example: Quillbolt Hedgehog could attack in the same turn that it revives itself in by its own effect,BUT it must first have been Normal Summoned properly. Example: Master Hyperion could not attack in the same turn that it is Special Summoned by its own effect, but can attack if it is Summoned by 'Monster Reborn'.)

You may be familiar with these rules, as they are based on the ones used in the Battle City Tournament — the first major public tournament and the ones that the Legendary Duelists fought under. The inclusion of these alternate rules is to help display the kinds of plays you would make in different difficult circumstances and to prepare you for the large number of surprises and house rules you are sure to encounter in your time as a duelist.

(Tl;dr version: It's Duel Academy In Scandinavia! And it's totally elitist and cool, and only cool people get to go there. Don't break the rules or we throw you in the Arctic Sea. There's a Finn who's the headmaster, a German counselor, an Icelandic security chief, a Scottish techxpert and a Russian doctor. We made up this weird point system to make you fight for our amusement. Also, we made a variant game because we felt like it. Win here and you get a free pass to the big leagues.)

Hmmm...

I'm interested, I guess, although I do already have a lot on my plate already... Still, I'm thinking of joining with a Charmer deck. One question though: the "No Duel Spirit" thing you put down; is that "no Duel Spirits at all", or are they allowed and you just decided not to go with one?

Duel Spirits are allowed; I just decided not to go with one because A) I have all the staff to play already and B) even among the small size of the body, Spirit wielders are not omnipresent. It's bad enough all five named teachers have one already.

(PS: Charmer deck? Neat! You run three Waboku to use their effects properly, right?)

  • Name: Daniel Ardent
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance: His flat black hair spikes out to the sides, and he wears a pair of narrow square glasses which make him look more mature than he is.
  • Personality:Calling him 'ditzy' is rather like calling the Artic Circle 'a tad chilly'. Fortunately, his constantly cheery outlook on life means he's more well-liked than most sixteen-year-old guys. This is due in part to his sheltered upbringing, so he also tends towards the naive side of the equation of life, and hasn't really experienced hardship or rough spots in his life.
  • History: The second son of a man who is CEO of his own banking company, Daniel went to a fancy academy designed for putting students on the fast track to Oxford. Much to the chagrin of his parents, however, he found the games of Duel Monsters that happened during the breaks between classes far more interesting than the lessons, and managed to wheedle his way into a Duel Academy selection exam, gaining entrance. The style of dueling he has is opportunistic and constantly keeping his opponents on their toes, and the selectors for the Academy decided that such talent (to win despite not using a solid archetype deck) shouldn't go to waste.

First, a few questions about Legendary Format. Are Life point gaining effects halved? Are monsters that gain attack for difference in life points (e.g. Ancient Sacred Wyvern) given double attack bonus? Surely to balance it for stall decks since there's less lifepoints, ergo shorter duels, then shouldn't deck destruction be doubled? Although since monsters can't attack as early maybe it should be either left standard or increased by a half.

Oh and what does the uniform look like?

  • Name: Apollo Nova
  • Age: 17
  • Appearance: Above average height, he has golden eyes and platinum spiky hair. He wears a necklace with the sun on one side and the moon on the reverse.
  • Personality: Very grandiose. Likes to help others when possible. Does not like to talk about his family.
  • Important Notes: Two Duel Spirits; Fire Ant Ascator and Supay.
  • History: Apollo made his name by winning the Northern Regional Championship in England on his first entry, upsetting the reigning champion, his older sister Selene Nova. This has made tensions in the family since Selene was dropped from her current contract for being beaten by a rookie. One of the reasons Apollo applied for this academy was to get away from his sister.

Work in progress, but... Just so you can get a good idea of what I'm going for here. I haven't actually played the card game in a while, so I'll probably need to unclog the rust a bit, ahah. And I've never played a full Charmer deck despite them being my favourite archetype (mostly I just put each one into a specific elemental deck >.<), so this should be interesting to figure out somehow. Hmmm.

  • Name: Lina Winters
  • Age: 14
  • Appearance: By an astonishing coincidence, she looks just like the monster "Lyna the Light Charmer", to the point that those who can see Duel Spirits would swear that she and her Spirit Partner were twins. The only real difference is that she wears her school uniform, although she has been known to cosplay as her lookalike just to screw with people.
  • Personality: Lina is still young and rather unsure of herself, but she makes sure to try her best at whatever challenge she comes across. She can be a bit childish at times, but... That's because she's still a child. Somewhat airheaded and a little bit dim, but at the same time compassionate and caring, wearing her heart on her sleeve at all times. As much as she wants to be a great duelist, she's also rather lazy and always ends up rushing to complete her assignments at the last minute. She harbours a rather blatant card crush on Dharc the Dark Charmer, whereas her main Spirit Partner is usually rather vocal about her dislike for her fellow Charmer.
  • Important Notes: Her Spirit Partner is Lyna the Light Charmer. Technically, the other five Charmers are also her partners, but she doesn't share as deep a connection with them as she does Lyna, and so they only really show up whenever something dramatic is happening.
  • History: I'll... Figure out something, I guess. >.<
  • Deck: Charmer Deck! Will figure out the exact details later.

Just wondering before I do more work on this character, if this is in the same 'verse as those other RPs, would it be before or after Second Year? Kinda contemplating making my character Michael's little sister...since I'm really bad at coming up with names. >.<

[up][up][up][up] Accepted, and welcome to Adroit Stream! (Could you just format your decklist by putting a bullet point in front of each card so it's easier to read?)

[up][up][up] Accepted; welcome to Brave Stream!

Regarding the uniform: it's a black sweatshirt over a white t-shirt and a white pair of pants (no skirts allowed because, y'know, they're in the Arctic and it's freezing). Once they reach the Academy, you'll get given a scarf which is grey-white and has the crest of the academy at one end and the icon of the Stream at the other.

Regarding Legendary Format: I haven't really had a chance to playtest it with stall decks; but because a lot of the damage in the current meta is being made by swarms of summoned monsters, I thought they'd get slowed down enough that it matched up. I'll put deck-destruction up to oe-and-a-half times what's written on the card but keep burn at half, since burn then needs to do exactly the same amount as in a normal duel (scaling up).

(Also, why only 1 fusion monster when you have 2 insta-fusion? Just curious.)

[up][up] Accepted, and welcome to Cunning Stream!

I think that playing cards with make monsters immune to destruction are pretty useful in a Charmer deck, as well as Magician's Apprentice to Set them from your deck. Beyond that, maybe Debris Dragon for Synchro Summoning?

[up] This is set during Second Year; so Scott's younger sister would be around 14 and have one heck of a legacy to live up to. (Maybe have her be spotted by the selectors while on holiday...?)

  • Name: Caitlin Lane
  • Age: 14
  • Appearance: Caitlin has long brown hair that she wears in pigtails and hazel eyes. Her height is fairly normal for her age. She usually wears a pair of thin rimmed glasses.
  • Personality: Caitlin is enthusiastic about learning, generous, kind to others and willing to admit when she does something wrong. In short, the exact opposite of her older brother.
  • Important Notes: Her spirit partner is Naturia Beast.
  • History: There isn't really much to say about Caitlin's history, as her life has been fairly normal for the most part. Since she was 12 she's been able to see and communicate with the spirit of Naturia Beast. When she heard that her brother was going to the world famous Duel Academy, she wanted to follow him. Although she didn't manage to make it into that school, she ended up being offered a place here.
  • Deck: Naturia Miracle

Monsters:

Spells:

Traps:

Extra Deck:

Also, I think Badwolfwho's got two fusion monsters, Barox and Musician King.

Moe, maybe cards like Waboku? Um, Wonder Wand could be good, since they're all spellcasters. Desert Sunlight could help too, maybe...um, I haven't really tried making a Charmer deck. Maybe things like Shrink or Forbidden Lance to make it more likely that they'll survive being attacked? Oh, and Inqui, I think they might be too high of a level for Apprentice's effect.

Oh, and Caitlin was going to have a Northwemko deck, just to go against Michael's Garlandolf deck, but I'd feel like I was stealing Inqui's thunder.

[up] That's another one for Cunning Stream; accepted!

Argh, derp. Missed that somehow.

Ooh, Naturia deck? I had a mate who played that deck irl, until he switched to Plants.

Dangit, one of my character ideas was going to be a Huskie Russkie playing Naturia because of Cuteness Proximity towards the spirits.

Time for the other one, then, a regular guy running a Darkworld deck populated by the totally sinister Dark World Archetype and their leader Reign-Beaux.

...and that's terrible.

[up] Pfft. (Sorry, just; in the old RP, there was a job-interview kind of thing and Reign-Beaux was as faaaaaaaabulous as a sentient being could possibly be.)

Give me a bit of time to dig through the thread.

Edit: Here, but I seemed to have mixed up a few details in the remembering; he was more of a hilariously hammy villain.

Ah, the job interviews, those were amazing.

Sorry about messing up your idea Krautman, it sounds like it would've been hilarious. He can still find Caitlin's cards adorable though.

Yay for tentative internet at school! (I promise everyone from the other RP that as soon as I can transfter the last post somehow or get internetz, it will be up).

Anyway... if I have time, which I hope I will, a tentative character:

  • Name: Dmitry Yukov (Goes by 'Dima')
  • Age: 17
  • Appearance: Average height, short blonde hair, pretty pale. Rather skinny. Wears a long-sleeved, black shirt with the scarf worn around his waist like a sash.
  • Personality: Dima hides his intellect behind his thick Russian accent and that the stereotypical image of his countrymen is... less than brilliant. Thus, most people are surprised when they witness his skill in dueling and his brilliant mind firsthand. He is also a heavy drinker, and... quite affectionate when drunk, a stark contrast to his usual removed personality.
  • Important Notes: Very spiritually sensitive- can see and converse with any spirits- but has no spirit of his own. Left-handed.
  • History: Dima grew up in an extremely spiritually sensitive family, and has had more friends that were Duel Spirit than human in his life. However, he was never able to bond with one of them like the rest of his family, despite changing decks often to attract new ones. A side-effect of this is that he has used hundreds of decks since he was little and can formulate new ones easily- something he does in his spare time. This paid off when he entered a deck-building tournament, where each round all Duelists had to have a completely new deck- no repeat cards from previous decks they had used. Dima took first place, and thus was accepted into Acadamia Scandanavia. He still carries most of the eight decks he used in the tournament, but only uses the one from the final round, "General Winter" (though he has changed them up to include certain cards that would otherwise overlap).
  • Deck: "Visions of Destiny", a HERO deck focusing on the Vision HER Os and Destiny HER Os. Also carries other decks, namely a Mist Valley one and an ice-themed one.

you're interested, post the following filled-out form in this thread.

  • Name: Shou Kanagawara
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: A strange looking kid, he has somewhat messy silvery hair, is a Bishonen, and usually wears a black long sleeved shirt, white jeans, and black boots. He is tall and wiry, and has blue-green eyes. He carries around a pouch, which has a large number of needles, specifically acupuncture needles.
  • Personality: He is quite bizarre, seeming like a Cloud Cuckoolander and friend to all animals, but he has a crafty, hidden personality, one which considers all options to be good when it comes to winning a duel. And he responds very poorly to being insulted or otherwise demeaned, leading to him possibly abandoning a scheme just to pulverize someone. He can be a big Trickster type of person, and he just loves to screw with people and make them act in a certain way. He can seem a little lazy as well, but in fact is almost always considering options.
  • Important Notes:
  • History: Not much is known about him, other than that he is a dueling prodigy, as far as his old school reported. But, where he comes from, not many students liked dueling him very much, almost to the extent he had a reputation as The Dreaded.
  • Deck: Dark And Light
  • Monsters: 22
    • 3x Dark Horus
    • 3x Armageddon Knight
    • 2x Lightpulsar Dragon
    • 3x The Dark Creator
    • 3x Alexandrite Dragon
    • 3x Dark Nephthys
    • 2x Dark Grepher
    • 3x Vylon Prism
    • 1x Dark Blade the Captain of the Evil World

  • Spells: 12
    • 3x Trade-In
    • 1x Allure of Darkness
    • 2x Creeping Darkness
    • 1x Dark Hole
    • 1x Heavy Storm
    • 2x Mystical Space Typhoon
    • 2x Gold Sarcophagus

  • Traps: 8
    • 3x Dimensional Prison
    • 2x Bottomless Trap Hole
    • 1x Return from the Different Dimension
    • 2x Escape from the Dark Dimension
    • 1x Mirror Force

Oh hey, the old guard's joining in as well!

[up][up] Accepted; welcome to Cunning Stream! (Try to stick with using only one deck at a time, though, please.)

[up] Seems good to me, only two things:

(...)and usually wears his Obelisk Blue uniform.

...We're not at Duel Academy, dood.

1x Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning

Technically, that card's so rare as to be thought a myth in canon. Could you please exchange it for Chaos Sorceror?

Aside from that; welcome to Brave Stream!
