Archer laughed for a moment, then replied, "Nothing much you can do, but you better hurry up before you miss all the action."
It was then that a deep, harsh voice came over the intercom. It was Commander Jones. "Listen up people, we have just got word that some Imperial drop ships are heading this way. Our intelligence believes that together they are carrying a small army of Imperial mechs, and that they should be arriving any moment now. You know what to do soldiers."
I AM BATMAN“So they wish to do battle... so be it!”
Henry Quern’s blood pressure began to rise in excitement.
“I will prepare to commence rocket artillery assault against the Empire’s legions... FOR GREAT JUSTICE!”
I’m a lumberjack and I’m ok. I sleep all night and work all day.Dusk almost smiled at the news, for Dusk adventure and danger had gone from necessity to a way of life.
The other mech squads all left. taking up their positions across the base, leaving just Dusk and his squad in the area. (OOC: Are there any other mech squads and would it just be our squad fighting?)
"No quarter," Dusk snarled over the comm, then he switched it off.
"Activate Combat Mode," Dusk commanded the mech.
Combat Mode Activating. Weapon Unlock: Password Required.
"Proxy Code: 99283 Alpha Charlie Echo," Dusk stated clearly, he'd personally requested a voice activated password unlock for his custom mech.
Password accepted. Black Moon is now combat ready.
"Perfect," Dusk grinned, walking to the squads flanks and charging Black Moon's Railgun and Stealth Generator.

"Insert philisophical/funny rambling here"The Headbasher returned a equally casual salute back at Dusk's Black Moon. "C'mon kid let's earn our goddamn paychecks." Spotting Galio's Superior Sentinel Jo urged her mech over next to his. " Yo Galio! I got a weird question gotta ask ya. How far d'ya think your big ol Sentinel could chuck my lil' Headbasher up into the air?"
Though unseen by anyone else, Flynn nodded in agreement to Jo’s words, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I may not be used to battle, but I’m ready to die at any time. After all, casualties are a part of war." Obviously. He’d have to be pretty dense to think otherwise.
He returned Dusk’s salute as his mech left the hangar, taking in each of the man’s words with recognition. "I’ll keep that in mind", he said, before quietly adding, "Good luck, everyone."
Flynn brought the Somnium to a halt just as the Commander’s announcement blared over the communicator. Drop ships, eh? He activated the mech’s shoulder-bound sniper guns, using the scope on its forehead to home in on the skies.
“Zoom in at least seventy percent,” he ordered. The Scout’s internal systems whirred as they did just that, giving the adolescent a clear view of the sky. For anyone outside the Somnium, it looked as if the mech was simply staring upwards.
As soon as this was done, Flynn activated the scimitar. The curved blade hummed to life, glowing a bright red due to the searing heat that radiated through the weapon. His right hand then hovered over the switch that activated stealth mode. I’ll save that for emergencies, he decided, and returned to scanning the sky for Imperials.

A heaping helping of stupid.Commander Jones sat in the observation deck, while several workers busily tried to locate the Imperial Carriers. After several moments, one of the workers called out for the Commander. He walked over to where his screen was, and was immediately dumbfounded. All of the ships where just sitting there in space, doing nothing. "What the hell is going on?" It was then that the ships launched the pods at Earth.
Archer and Ricochet were ready for any thing that the Imperials could throw at them, or at least that's what he thought. Large metal pods started falling from the sky, too fast for him to hit with any of the shots he fired off. They were landing all around them. "Don't fire at them until we are sure they aren't gonna blow us straight to hell!"
I AM BATMAN"Tsk! Well there goes that plan. Be careful out there Galio" The Headbasher's cockpit rocked everytime one of the silver pods slammed into the ground around the base. Still she had managed to pilot her mech through worse, and steered the black and sivler war machine over to the Superior Sentinel's rear. Galio's mech definately outclassed her's in firepower, but that didn't mean it didn't have its blind spots.
Her mech drew the shimmering blade from the sheath on its back in anticipation for the fight that was sure to come. The leather clad mech emitted a grinding screeching sound as its joint and the bundles of metal cord and wire that served as its artifical muscles bundled together ready to spring forward into action.

Galio would never have thrown one of his comrades to the enemy as it were, as he'd been about to explain, but Archer's announcement made this unnecessary. He settled for smiling and warming up his plasma cannons.
"Worry not, Jo. None get the better of me."
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?Archer followed after Jo's lead, and lead Ricochet over to a couple of the pods. He was preparing to blast it apart, when the pod suddenly broke apart. A large metal hand came out and grabbed Ricochet's face, and threw him far backwards. Archer was thrown around inside the of the cockpit, and left looking on as all of the pods began to open with the Imperial Mech's popping out.
I AM BATMAN"Archer I ain't gonna need you to tell me these things are f
cking hostile. I'm goin at em!" The Skull headed mech thrust out its blade forward at the nearest of the emerging Imps. Under any nomral circumstances the action looked like the frantic flailing of a panicked rookie or a cracked vetran, the black and silver mech was still horrendously out of range of the pod, especially considering the realtively short reach of its weapon. Despite all this Jo smiled in her cockpit and keyed in a few basic instructions on the keyboard that had just popped out to her side.
"Coordinates Lat 2305, Long 4178 set, primary targets all metallic objects above 1500 Deg C, C'mon my babies time to go to work!" Keying in the instructions for the billions of nanites housed inside the knife's giant liquid metal blade Jo waited for only a split second as the tiny machines reformed the shape of the blade into an extremely thin and long needle that shot forward at near super sonic speeds. As it flew it was nothing more than a barely visible strand of silver, a paper thin serpent that sought out to impale anything hot enough to be an Imp mech reactor.
"Well... damn." Carl punched the Big Red Button labelled "Artillery Mode", and the right arm immediately started expanding while the mech kneeled forward. The mech's "feet" and "knees" gripped the ground, while the pair of bracing legs that came from the wrist dug in further. "Alright, the elephant gun's loaded, which targets have priority?"

Dusk had turned on the stealth generator almost as soon as the first pod had hit home, quickly moving his mech past the others, Ricotchet hurtling towards him, Dusk manouvered his mech out of Archer's trajectory. Swingng wide Black Moon was now on the left flank far from the centre, rail gun up and waiting on his shoulder as Black Moon was positioned, so the slug would pierce through two of the emerging Imperials.

"Insert philisophical/funny rambling here"Upon seeing the imperials landing, Henry clicked the MR Ls activation button. The sockets began to open while a screen echoed in red light “Rocket artillery mode activated. Commence command when ready.” Henry then became to echo in a boasting voice:
“It is time to give this batch of the Empire’s forces their welcoming party. The gift to them: FIREWORKS!”
...and so Henry marked the Imperial mechs for targeting and clicked the “Maximum Fire” button. The Norman Templar stood in a stretched position, the shoulders bought upwards, as the rockets started launching from them like fireworks.

I’m a lumberjack and I’m ok. I sleep all night and work all day.Lance sat motionless in his cockpit as the Imperial pods landed around him and the others. As soon as the Imperial mechs began their advance, his HUD's Combat Mode activated, showing verious red and green dots on his view screen. The set-up was fairly simple: Green was good, Red was bad. That's all you need to know in battle. Identify your targets and eliminate them.
His plasma rifle raised, he trained it on one of the Imperial mechs advancing from a nearby pod and fired with cold efficiancy.
Direct hit.
He trained his rifle on another.
Give the world the best you have and you will get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway. The Sentinel stood motionless, one armed raised, as plasma blasts flew at the Imperial Mechs from it's shoulder-mounted Gatling guns. It's rocket launcher-arm occasionally moving to finish off a weakened enemy machine. All the while, Gailo stared impassively from his cockpit.
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?Cu Chulainn charged forward towards the enemy mechs. A hail of gunfire erupted in its direction, but Shane quickly activated the boost pack and avoided it. Swiftly turning to face the attacker, the emerald green mech plunged its energy spear into the imperial that had just fired at it. The crimson lance pulsed with energy and the grey mech exploded.
Life is like a game of Mahjong. Sometimes you need to take risks if you want to come out ahead.Archer was able to get himself re-situated in time to dodge one of the Imperial's attacks. Archer then activated Ricochet's wrist Blade, and hit the Boost Button, and rushed Ricochet straight into the enemy mech, blade first. Archer then pulled out Ricochet's energy pistol with his free hand, and fired a few shots at some of the surrounding enemies.
The dust was beginning to settle, and it was clear that Archer's squad was gaining the upper hand, but the other squads weren't as lucky. He saw one Mech completely ablaze, and in terrible condition. Another one had been ripped in half, and yet another had several large holes in it. At the same time, more of the Imperials were beginning to surround himself, and his squad.
I AM BATMANAs Galio was blasting Imperial machiness left and right, Jo was there to cover his back. Any of the pale grey mechs that ventured to close to the mighty titan's rear or exposed flanks soon found itself impaled on a curved silver blade, or shot to pieces by the shotgun that was now in the Headbasher's left hand. Playing defence really wasn't her style, but letting the Superior Sentinel do its job would take down far more imperial mech's than she could on her own.
"You owe me for this back up Galio, once we get back to the base's bar your buying!" She said with unabashed glee as another Imperial mech went down for the count as the Headbasher's knife cleaved straight through its torso.
"My apologies, but I must decline. While I appreciate the assistance, I do not believe buying you alcohol would bode well for anyone's well-being." Galio replied, continuing his assault steadfastly. He made a mental note to stay far away from all bars when Jo was in the area. He was trying to save money for his parents, after all.
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?"Tch, Cheapskate!" As she made the snide comment she quickly checked the ammo counter for her mech's shotgun. The Headbasher still had over forty of its standard 1/12 gauge shells, and a hanful of a few other goodies if the Imps decided to pull something. Still it didn't look like this fight was going to end anytime soon so she made the desicion not to be as trigger happy as she had been when the battle had began.
"Oi Galio I'm gonna be tossin some Imps your way, so get those sweet guns of yours warmed up and ready!" As she screamed into her Comm the Hoboken can-opener suddenly morphed into a whip and lashed itself around the knee of the closest Imperial war machine. With a audible groan from the Headbasher's joints the skull faced mech hefted the grey machine high over its head and straight into Galio's line of sight.

Carl sighed - well away from the others, he might as well have been invisible - as he loaded another round into the railgun. He wasn't firing at full speed, so the capacitor bank charged rapidly. Aiming at the largest mech near where Jo and Galio were at, he let loose. Another benefit of not firing at full power meant that the mech didn't have to lurch too much as he fired the metal shot. In split-second after it left the barrel, the small pieces of metal that fell off the projectile turned to flame and left bright streaks trailing the shot - hopefully it would hit its target, or else it would soon be in orbit.

Chatter... It's all White Noise...
As the Pendragon got into position, Landon checked to make sure that his outgoing comm was switched off, as usual. He didn't want to mute the incoming channels, important information tends to come through every once in a while, after all.
Something in the back of his mind kept niggling him to be more outgoing with his squadmates, but the more logical side of him told him to stay the course. He wasn't here to make friends, he was here to get a job done. Friend-making could be saved for when the battle was over.
Eh, what the heck... He flipped his comm to the Open position. "Pendragon, reporting."
