Character: Markoth Location: The Citadel
Markoth pushed himself off of the ground, and muttered something, most likely profane, to himself as he glanced around. This was part of the Citadel that he was unfamiliar with. In fact, it looked almost as if he'd never seen it at all.
With a frown, he waved to a nearby person, attempting to ask them where he was. To his shock, the person, a human as well, ignored him and walked right by.
The same thing happened with the next three.
"Maybe they're just all really unobservant," Markoth muttered, when his omni-tool chirped. He frowned, and picked it up.
"'Get to the Relay. You have 120 minutes. Fail, and face erasure - The Shinigami'"
"What the hell?" he muttered, when a spike of pain flared through him. He grimaced, then looked at his hand, where the pain was concentrated. A timer, red and black, ticking through the seconds...
((OOC - I messed with the text a bit. I figured not to sign it "The Reapers," for obvious reasons, so I went Shinigami.))
Cartia awoke, everything was a blur. She was trying to remember anything... Anything at all. Nope. It just wasn't working.
She was pissed to high hell at that. She was in some kind of base, or at least she thought she was. Loads of different creatures, some who looked like her, some who were alien to her. She ran up to one demanding that they explain what was going on. But they passed by her as if she wasn't even there. "Damn it!" she said. "What's going on!? What is this?"
She heard the beep that split her head. She searched her pocket to find some kind of communication device. Get to the Relay. You have 120 minutes. Fail, and face erasion. "What is this nonsense? Could they not be bothered to explain anything!? It just makes my head hurt..." she said. She walked around until she found someone solid. A creature that towered over her, a dark gray figure covered by what appeared to be an exoskeleton. "Do you have any idea what's going on!?"
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Milos, being shocked at someone seeing him, jumped a few inches in the air out of surprise. After taking a moment to gather his thoughts, he turned around to look at his new aquantance. She was an Asari: typical blue, a few freckles, Her demeanor and posture suggested that she was a civilian. Milos internally groaned. He was not liking the fact that the only person able to actually see him (at the moment) was a civie with no combat training/
"No clue, miss. I just remember being shot in the head by some tug on my shore leave, and ending up here. Funny. I thought the afterlife would be better than what we had here."
Milos realized that he may be scaring the girl with the fact that he was, in fact, dead. So he decided to change the topic.
"Milos Grath, First Lietenant of the Turian Hierachy's Special Forces division. And you are......"
"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"Faela'Taris vas Rayya didn't know where she was. Oh, she was on the citadel, she remembered that much, but her surroundings were unfamiliar. This must be some part of the citadel she'd never been to. She ran up to a passing human, asking for an explanation, but he walked on by as if he hadn't even noticed her. Confused, she went back over what had happened. She remembered a firefight and a searing pain as her suit was punctured. Was she dead? Before she could think much more about it, her omni-tool started buzzing, informing her that she had a message. "Get to the relay. You have 120 minutes. Fail and face erasion."
Life is like a game of Mahjong. Sometimes you need to take risks if you want to come out ahead."Cartia Vinusha." she said. "Wish I could tell you more, but that's really all I can gather up. I woke up in this place with all these strange people and I'm honestly just lost." she said. "Shot in the head... " she said that tidbit sinking in even as she spoke. "You don't look dying and you can't be dead right?" Cartia asked scanning the man. "Of course it's hard to tell with whatever you are." she admitted.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Milos
Milos blinked.
"Really? You've never seen a Turian before? Every species on the Citadel knows about the ones apart from their own. Let me guess: you hit your head and conveniently forgot everything about other species or something?
"As for what happened, I clearly remember me being shot right between the eyes, and I blacked out for a bit."
Here, Milos paused, because he started to remember something else."
"Hang on a minute. I also remember someone standing over me as I died. He put something in my pocket."
Sure enough, Milos pulled a small, black pin out of his pocket, emblaizoned with an odd human design. Upon touching it to his palm, his mind reeled with a burst of sound, and his mind was assaulted by dozens of voices all at once. Somehow, he was able to connect every single one of those thoughts to an indvidual person.
"The hell? I died and got a mind-reading trinket? What in the name of the Spirits is going on?!"
Barrius
Had anyone been able to hear him, Barrius would have shattered the people surrounding him with his cries of fury.
He supposed this was the cruel trick of some deity, punishing im for being a lackluster merc. If he was trying to piss him off, he had certainly succeeded.
He looked down at his pinkish hands, with his vision that was now far too narrow.
He, Barrius Molock, Batarian slaver, marcinary, and generally mean person, had been turned into a pathetic little human.
Rather than sit there bemoaning his situation, he instead attempted to take out his anger on the locals. Sadly, his wild punches had not effect, as his fists seemed to just pass through the bystanders near him.
"Damnit all! I'm some kind of ghost! I bet that bastard of a human did this to me. I should have killed him long ago!"
Barrius was interrupted from his tirade by a beeping sound from his wrist. Scowling, he fared up his omni-tool, noticing a new message.
Get to the Relay. You have 120 minutes. Fail, and face erasion.
Immediately after Barrius read this odd letter, his new hand exploded in pain. After spending a few moments nursing his injured hand, he looked at it to see a timer, burned into his hand. Every second, the clock ticked down.
"Fine. I'll find this "Relay. And I'll kill every last one of you, if you don't give my body back RIGHT FUCKING NOW!"
-Silence.-
Sighing, Barrius turned around, only to bump into a quarian. Noticing that she was solid, unlike the others around him, he tried to get her attention

"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2""I feel like something was taken from me..." she said. "But those pins...." she searches her pockets as she speaks. "I have one just like yours. And two others." she said holding them out. "This whole situations strikes me as odd." she said.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Milos nodded.
"This is all very strange, What do you say we work together for a while? Find out what happened to us? There's always more strength in a unit when there's more troops."
Milos held out his hand to Cartia, to shake it.
He's unwittingly initiating a pact.
"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"Cartia took out her hand and accepted. There was a flash of light that surrounded Cartia shocking her back stunning her for a bit. "Is this a normal part of the handshake? I don't think it is. Not at all."
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Milos stumbled backwards a few feet, surprised by the suden burst of light.
"What the hell?"
He glanced down at the pins in his hand. Along with that black, mind-reading pin, there was a blue pin with a hurrican;s picture on it.
"I swear, this day is just getting stranger and stranger."
"So, that text said to get to the Relay, right? Something tells me we can't just grab a ship and go to the Relay outside the Citadel. I think they mean that sculpture of a Mass Relay in the Presidium. The center of the Citadel. Let's get going."
Milos began walking towards the fast tram system, only to smack crestfirst into a wall. An invisible wall.
As Milos picks himself off the ground, a Drell in red body armor looked on at Milos in his new partner.
"Pact acknowledged. Stage one wall cleared. Stage two wall still in place."
"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2""Is this a normal conversation around here or is that man talkin' gibberish." Cartia said irritated. "What's with this thing? Some kind of energy feild?" She presses against the wall and a flash of behive like light appears.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing."You, there. Clear all the Noise in this area, if you want past this wall."
"Noise? Does that mean we have to soundproof the Ward or something?," Milos asked.
The hooded reptile sighed. "No. Use your Player Pin. The black one. Then you'll find the Noise."
Glancing at his black pin, Milos closed his hand around it, gesturing for Cartia to do the same.
You can start the Noise fight, if you want. Varrenoise, type 1. Think of them as alien dogs.

"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"Cartia scanned the area. To her shock she saw drooling monstrous dogs growling at her and Milos. "What the hell do we do with these puppies?" she asked backing up to the wall and sweating. "We need to get them on a leash."
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing."I don't see any guns around here. I'm no biotic, and I can't find my combat programs on my omni-tool."
Noticing the foaming drool coming out of the Varrenoise's mouths, he considered the fact that they may have some sort of disease. Even if he was really dead, he didn't fancy seeing what would happen if he was bitten by one of those.
"Looks like we'll have to fight. But....how?"
As if in response to his question, the hurricane pin in Milos's other hand began glowing. Taken by an instinctive urge, Milos ran up to the Varrendog and proceeeded to slash at it with his claws. While this would have only caused minor scratch wounds (military regulations made soldiers keep their claws short to handle firearms), the attack as surprisingly effective, and the varrenoise howled in pain. Then, it faded away with a burst of static.
"....Not sure how this works, but I think we can use these pins to fight them!"
Upon saying this, a large pack of the varrenoise closed in on the two partners. Milos tensed himself up for battle.
"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"Cartia decided it was worth doing something in face of the giant monster dog. She wished she could contain it. Tie it up. Control it. Her wish was granted. Chains appeared out of nowhere wrapping around the beast tearing into it's flesh causing it to bleed static. She felt a rush of joy and an orb appeared near the dog, changing color until it exploded making the beast dissappear in a flash of light.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Sorry I was gone. I had to sleep.
Milos slashed his way through more of the varrenoise, panting from exertion. Eventually, he and Cartia had cleared the area of all the rabid canines.
"Hmph. Objective met. Wall clear. But don't expect this Game to be as easy. Plenty of more barriers ahead. Be ready."
With these words, the Drell used the fast tram himself, going off to parts unknown in the Citadel. A few seconds later, another tram car appeared.
"Great. More walls. Let's hope we can clear them in time. Ready to move on?"
"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2""So can you explain anything about what's happeneing?" Cartia asked clearly annoyed and frustrated and tired.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.A human bumped into Faela. Strangely enough, he turned around and seemed to be trying to get her attention. Could this human see her? She decided to talk to him. "You can see me? Do you have any idea what's going on here?"
Life is like a game of Mahjong. Sometimes you need to take risks if you want to come out ahead.Milos
"Hey, I'd tell you if I had any clue what was going on. I'll try to grill that hooded drell for info, if we find him again. Or maybe we'll find out what's going on when we get to the Relay."
With this, Milos opened the door to the cab, programming the destination to the Presidium.
Barrius
"I dont know, quarian. No idea why I'm a damned human instead of my real body, either. I'm torn between whether I should strangle whoever did this to me, or myself for being a dirty monkey right now."
" I don't even care what's going on. All that I know is that I'm gonna find whoever did this, and kill 'em."
With this, Barrius attemped to walk off, but he found his path blocked by a wayward human. He was dressed in Alliance armor from the neck down, and was wearing an old 21rst century baseball cap rather than a helmet.
Barrius snarled in anger. "Out of my way, human!"
The man simply smirked, and looked at the nearby quarian.

"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"Cartia sighed. "Are you also amnesiac? Because you sure as hell can tell me about the normal world around us." she said.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Milos
"You should've been more specific. Well, if you really don't remember anything, I'll give you a quick briefing."
"This," Milos said, gesturing to the space around them, "is the Citadel. The hub of galactic culture in the Milky Way galaxy. You're an asari, a species of an all female race. I'm a turian from the planet Palaven, a miletarized species with the best armed forces out of any other race. Your species found the Citadel a couple of centuries ago, and the salarians, your species, my people, ad the humans comprise the Galactic Council that call all the shots in the Council space." n "Anything else?"

"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"Milos took some time to assess their surroundings.
"Well, the Citadel's shaped like a giant flower. The central rim, where the relay sculpture is, is the Presidium. the five "petal" structures are the five wards on the Citadel. Think of them like seperate cities. Judging by our surrundings," Milos observed "I'd saw we're in the Zakera Ward, right next to that Dark Star lounge. If we take this tram here, we can get to the Presisium. and find that relay that the mail told us about."
"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2""OK." Cartia said. "Good to know. I don't suppose you know much about the situatuation we're in, right?"
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.

Milos had never noticed it before, but the Citadel was so full of life. So many people, so many different cultures coming together. It was a major spectacle, seeing races so different as the small, yet vesitile humans competing with species that had had centuries of a head start. And actually staying in the fight.
He was truely amazed by this. He had never really been involved in the First Contact war, and he admired humans for their sheer potential. He would have enjoyed it greatly to fight alongside a human squad, with that of his own fighting with them as well.
A pity that would now be impossible, seeing as that Milos was now quite dead.
Granted, Milos wasn't shell-shoked at the fact that he had died. He knew the risks when he dove into that firefight to aid that C-Sec officer. He saw the man now, with a cast on his arm, and with a limp in his leg, having a drink at the local bar. Yet he was still alive. Milos was not.
"Figures I die on my shore leave,", Milos mumbles to himself.
No, what made him uncomfortable was the state of his supposed afterlife. For a turian, Milos wasn't much of a devout to the Spirits, but he did think that there was a life after death of some kind. He had never imagined that it would just be like his old life all over again.
Except it wasn't. No one was noticing him. Granted, Milos did have a tendency to blend in to the backround: that comes with being a skilled scout for the Turian Hierachy's military. But he was sure that people passing straight through him, as if they themselves were Spirits, was not something he learned to do in basic training.
An insistent beeping sound jerked Milos out of his thoughts. He looked down at his Bluewire Omni-Tool, suprised that the afterlife didn't have more advanced communication than the standard technology of life. He had expected telepathy, or something.
" 'Get to the Relay. You have 120 minutes. Fail, and face erasion' More spam. Could've sworn that spam filter I made was working fine. Maybe dying resets it or someth-AUGH!"
Milos lost his train of thought, due to a sudden searing pain in his hand. When the pain faded, he looked at his hand to see an atonishing sight: a blinking timer, right on his palm. As he looked at it, he saw the seconds portion of the clock slowly ticking down.
"This some kind of trial to get to the real afterlife? What the hell am I supposed to do?"
