DUE TO SURPRISINGLY OVERWHELMING RESPONSE, SIGN UPS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THE TIME BEING

This is yet another random idea I had recently that I thought I'd try out. Basically, all of the PCs will be the reincarnations of figures from history, legend and folklore, reborn into the modern age and all inhabiting the same town for some unknown reason. Why this has happened, and what will become of it, is up to the players to find out and decide.

The setting of this RP shall be the vaguely American town of Sanctuary, New Texafornia, a sleepy coastal town with a reputation for having nothing interesting ever happen there. Recently, several young people have been having strange dreams and visions, vague memories of past lives. These would normally be casually dismissed, but some of these people have found that they are able to summon an artifact representing these past lives, something embodying their former exploits.

Most of the reincarnated figures will only have a vague knowledge of who they're supposed to be, as the dreams aren't usually very clear. However, some of them may be able to make a better guess thanks to their artifact (for example, if someone's artifact is a sword baring the inscription "Whosoever pulleth out this sword of this stone is rightwise king born of England", they can probably figure out who they're the reincarnation of), although some of them may be more vague and misleading than others. To begin with, the characters will not have full access to the knowledge and memories of their past self except under exceptional circumstances (which should be discussed with the GMs beforehand; anyone who posts a sign-up where the character has full access to this knowledge will be instantly vetoed).

In addition, the following characters shall be instantly vetoed, so don't try signing up as them: Jesus, Mohammed (both for what should be blindingly obvious reasons), anyone who lived during the 20th century (with a few exceptions that should be discussed beforehand; before anyone gets the smart idea to try and sign up as him, Hitler is NOT one of these exceptions), Merlin, Morgan le Fay and Mordred (for... Reasons. Plot reasons. >.>). I might be willing to allow people to sign up as a non-reincarnated character if their legend involves immortality, but this will be on a case by case basis and should be discussed with the GMs beforehand. You may have a maximum of two characters for this RP, but try not to take on anything more than you think you can handle.

Helping me GM this is my partner in crime, AnnoR, so if you have any questions feel free to ask either of us. Anno shall be playing as Little Red Riding Hood, and I shall be playing as both King Arthur and Lancelot. Hopefully this'll be a lot of fun, ahah.

  • Name: Self-explanatory.
  • Gender: Note: they do not have to be the same gender as their previous incarnation.
  • Age: Bare in mind that the reincarnations are supposed to be young. 19 should probably be the upper limit here.
  • Reincarnation Of: Which legendary/historical figure were they in their previous life? Please include a link to a relevant source of information.
  • Appearance: A brief description would be preferred, but we'll accept a fitting picture.
  • Personality: Just a brief synopsis so we can get a good idea of your character; we're not looking for an in-depth psychological profile here, but try not to be too vague.
  • History: A brief rundown will suffice; again, nothing too in-depth is required.
  • Abilities: What can your character do? Note that this refers to their purely mundane abilities as a regular human, and not to any supernatural abilities they may gain whilst using their artifact.
  • Artifact: A reminder of a previous life. What item does your character have, and what abilities do they gain from it? Bare in mind that they won't be too powerful to begin with, but will grow in strength as the connection between previous and current lives becomes stronger.

  • Name: Hannah Hartmann
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 10
  • Reincarnation of: Hattori Hanzo
  • Appearance: A young girl with waist-length brown hair and blue eyes. Average height and weightwise. Looks reasonably healthy, if a bit on the pale side. Usually wears blacks and dark blues, favours shorts over skirts and dresses.
  • Personality: Hannah is quiet and shy, especially around people that she doesn't know. Due to the fact that she really likes reading and hates going outside, she has very few friends. However, she is extremely loyal to those she considers friends and won't hesitate to help them when asked.
  • History: Hannah's life has been, for the most part, uneventful. She was born to fairly normal parents, has had a fairly normal childhood so far and goes to a fairly normal school. She has been taking karate lessons for the past two and a half years, not due to any traumatic events that required her to get stronger, but simply because her parents hoped that it would give her something in common with some of her classmates and maybe help her make a few friends.
  • Abilities: Hannah has a firm grasp of the basics of karate. Other than that, she's a normal ten-year-old girl.
  • Artifact: Chained Dragon - Hattori Hanzo's spear. It is unfortunately too large for Hannah to wield effectively at her current age. While the spear itself is nothing special, it allows her to summon daggers out of thin air. At the moment, she can only manage two at a time. It also gives her knowledge of how to wield both weapons without hurting herself.
    • Later on, she may gain access to the "magic tricks" Hattori Hanzo is known for employing: clairvoyance, telekinesis and teleportation.

  • Name: Lilly Baer
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 18
  • Reincarnation Of: Liu Bei
  • Appearance: Charismatic~
  • Personality: Lilly considers herself a charismatic, natural born leader, whether this claim holds true is up for debate. Despite her high-class lifestyle, she tries to be modest and empathetic towards the "common folk". Key word "tries", her attempts at being selfless more than likely ends in failure due to her massive misconceptions on the lives of middle and lower class. She always tries to make sound judgements for her and her comrades, but sometimes she'll let her emotions get the best of her, especially when one of those said comrades are in danger.
  • History: Lilly comes from the very wealthy Baer family. She never had the luxury of a normal childhood, always surrounded by servants, never allowed to attend public or even private school. Instead she was taught at home by one of the best tutors her parents could find. Because of this, she finds it hard to blend in with middle-class society, so whenever she goes out in public, she tends to stand out because of some of her mannerisms.
  • Abilities: Despite everything, Lilly can be quite the capable leader when the time calls for it. She's also a great strategist, making her extremely hard to beat at games like chess. Though technically not an ability, her vast wealth comes in handy on multiple occasions.
  • Artifact: Gold Dragon Sword - The sword of the General Liu Bei who sought to unite China. This is the weapon of a true leader, giving the wielder the wisdom to lead. It is also a sword of war, increasing the wielder's speed and endurance in order to get to allies quicker and protect them, as well as increasing strength in order to crush foes under your might. For now the bonuses are minor, but the more people Lilly can get to unite under her and the more foes she faces at once, the better the bonuses will get.
    • The blade also gives the previously untrained Lilly the knowledge to use the sword. She usually accompanies the sword with a smaller, unnamed and powerless sword in order to dual wield.

Anno R here! Ready to answer questions if necessary and post my character:

  • Name: Amelia Emmerich
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 9
  • Reincarnation Of: Little Red Riding Hood
  • Appearance: "Um... oh, um, the motorcycle is my dad's!"
  • Personality: Amelia is very sweet towards her parents, and especially to her grandmother. She is also affectionate towards her friends, and really, anyone who's nice and pleasant to her in general. She is surprisingly adventurous, though she's also cautious when caution is necessary(at least when she's not wrapped up in things, if she is she throws caution to the wind). Amelia enjoys sweets a great deal, especially lollipops. When using The Wolf, Amelia becomes cold and emotionless.
  • History: Amelia's life hasn't been particularly remarkable. She was born, has grown up and gone to school, and generally lived a normal life until finding out that she could access a strange, red hood...
  • Abilities: Amelia can run at a decent pace, and kick surprisingly hard. Otherwise, she's more or less an average nine-year-old girl.
  • Artifact: The red hood. While it doesn't have any abilities itself, it stores the spirit of "The Wolf". The Wolf is actually a spirit representing primal terror and fear. If Amelia opens the hood and allows it to open and work as a cape, she can allow The Wolf to take partial possession of her(only if she lets it). The cape grows to a massive size when this happens, and becomes filled with a dark void, and disembodied eyes and mouths. Amelia loses all her emotions when this occurs, and the target becomes gripped with terror. Sometimes, they see what inspires their deepest fears. Once Amelia resumes full control of herself, the cape shrinks to normal size and and becomes, visually, a regular cape. Amelia is unharmed, but she will feel sick for a short while after using this ability.

Amelia is accepted, of course. I'll look over the others once they're finished, ahah. Anyways...

  • Name: Penelope "Penny" Drake
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 16
  • Reincarnation Of: King Arthur Pendragon
  • Appearance: Rather average looking, with shoulder length, straight brown hair and brown eyes. She's maybe a little taller than average, but thin, and not possessing much of a figure. She wears a large pair of glasses, and is most often dressed in her school uniform, a brown sweater and skirt.
  • Personality: A wide-eyed idealist and all around idiot hero. Possesses a strong sense of justice and can't bare to see people being oppressed for any reason. She's rather single-minded about it, though, and won't even think twice about the consequences of what she does, blindly rushing head-on into danger if she thinks it's for a good cause. Something of a nerd; she's an especially large fan of comics and manga. She's generally cheerful, and loves chatting with anyone she comes across about completely inconsequential things such as the weather, how pretty the flowers look, what she had for lunch, etc., to the point that she can come off as somewhat annoying to others at times. However, a lot of this is simply a mask for how she truly is. Penny actually possesses something of an inferiority complex, and sometimes strives too hard to live up to the legacy of her previous incarnation of Arthur Pendragon.
  • History: A young woman who just so happens to be the reincarnation of Arthur Pendragon, the Once and Future King. However, she has only just recently became aware of this, and before then was simply just an average, everyday, ordinary schoolgirl. Her history from this time is inconsequential and actually rather boring. Although she's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, even she recognised the inscription on her sword, and realised who she was in her past life. However... She's not exactly well versed in the legends, and doesn't really know about much aside from the swords and the round table. She's not entirely sure why Misty keeps following her, but she doesn't particularly mind, as she rather likes the younger girl.
  • Abilities: Whilst she's not exactly smart, or atheletic, or popular... Um... At least she has spirit? Penny actually has surprisingly good coordination even if her other physical attributes are unimpressive before she draws Caliburn. She can be rather creative at times, being a somewhat talented artist, as well as having a knack for sewing which she uses to make stuffed toys (mostly for herself, but recently they've been going to Misty).
  • Artifact: Caliburn, the Sword in the Stone, a magic sword with the words "Whosoever pulleth out this sword of this stone is rightwise king born of England" engraved on the hilt. It is indestructable as long as her faith and honour remains intact, and can cut through almost anything. Whilst she holds it in her hands, Penny is imbued with the sword's power and gains a slight boost to her strength, speed, agility and resilience, taking her to the upper reaches of human ability in all these areas. She also becomes an almost unmatched swordswoman, although this only applies if she's actually using Caliburn (she seems to fumble a lot with any other sword).

  • Name: Misty Dulac
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 10
  • Reincarnation Of: Sir Lancelot of the Lake
  • Appearance: Um... Lazy, but, um, pretty much like this.
  • Personality: Despite her young age, she tries to act mature and serious as much as possible. However, she's still a child, and so breaking this image isn't too difficult, especially if certain details of her past life are brought up. Like Penny, she is single-minded about spreading the cause of justice and standing against evil; however she does this as a form of atonement for the mistakes of her past life, and will sometimes exert herself far too much because of this. Whilst trying to keep a cool, composed air around her, she completely drops this when she enters a fight, turning into a berserk, almost bloodthirsty maniac, and seems to enjoy herself far too much. However, once she comes back to her senses she will be rather ashamed of how she acted, and often drops into a deep melancholy as an aftermath of her berserker rage. Due to past experiences, Misty is scared of water, and cannot swim.
  • History: Originally from France, Misty's family moved to Sanctuary when she was six years old. She was a typical, cheerful young girl until her eighth birthday, when, after a freak accident caused her to almost drown in a nearby lake, she was beset by various incredibly vivid visions and dreams of a past life. As it turns out, she was once Sir Lancelot of the Lake, one of the legendary Knights of the Round Table serving under King Arthur, whose affair with Queen Guinevere tore apart the knights and paved the way for the fall of Camelot. The visions and recollections, having been thrust upon her all at once rather than gradually due to her near-death experience, had a notable impact on her, scarring her and leading her to believe that the sole purpose of her new life was to atone for the mistakes she made in her previous one. As such, as soon as she realised that Penny was the reborn King Arthur, she began going out of her way to stay near the other girl. Thankfully, Penny's trusting nature has led to the two developing a weird friendship of sorts.
  • Abilities: Her skill with all weapons is almost supernaturally high, and she can turn just about anything she gets in her hands into a lethal weapon. Strangely enough, this isn't linked to her artifact, and is something she could do even before being awoken as Lancelot. Misty is smarter than her age would suggest, can speak and read fluently in both English and French, and is exceptionally literate; she's Penny's main source of information about the Arthurian legends, even if she does omit some of the details she'd rather not let her in on. She's surprisingly proficient at costume design and manufacture, and in fact made her outfit herself.
  • Artifact: Arondight. Just like Penny and Caliburn, her physical capabilities increase whilst she is using her sword. It is unbreakable, and deals additional damage to dragons and related creatures. Whilst she is proficient in just about any weapon, it is with swords that she excels most, her skill with Arondight possibly even surpassing Penny's skill with Caliburn.

•Name: Patricia Mc Dowell

•Gender:female

•Age: 12

•Reincarnation Of: Cuchulain

•Appearance: Yes, I used a Kyoko pic.

•Personality: Longs for battle. Will not pass up an excuse to start a fight. Also tends to shamelessly flirt with every girl she meets; even if they're older, or way out of her league. Wants nothing more than to have something exciting happen in her life.

•History: Grew up in a normal, happy home; with nothing too traumatic happening. Found it boring as hell. Joined her school's boxing club in hopes that fighting people would be marginally exciting. After getting kicked out of boxing club for her tendency to forget the rules ("Oops, sorry, forgot groin shots werebn't allowed,"); she joined the wrestling team. Unfortunately, her tendency to lose herself during a fight got her disqualified when she tackled an opponent that had already been pushed out of the ring and attempted to give him a wedgie. After that, she managed to get kicked off of the baseball team and the basketball team before the rest of the teams stopped letting her join all together. Since then, she gave up on sports; and started picking fights with random people. However; she soon realized that she didn't get any satisfaction from fighting opponents who could barely fight back; and started to wish for an enemy that would actually challenge her.

•Abilities: Very good at fighting. Would have been a great boxer if she didn't have an odd tendency to attack her opponents with everything she has and completely forget about the rules.

•Artifact: Gae Bolg: a spear with several hooks attached to it. According to legend; it had to be cut out of anyone Cuchulain stabbed with it. As she regains her memories; she'll be able to jump higher and become stronger and faster. However; it will also cause her to have less and less control of herself in battle; and her body heat will increase. At full power, she'll use Riastradh and become somewhat of an inhuman monster.

  • Name: Victoria Lades
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 14
  • Reincarnation Of: Vlad Tepes III AKA Vlad the Impaler
  • Appearance: Cute, yet deadly.
  • Personality: Victoria can be exceedingly violent to pretty much everyone, but only if they do something she perceives as 'bad.' She dislikes thieves, and greedy people in general, and often gives to those in need, claiming that no one should be poor. She also dislikes lazy people, however, and thus doesn't give money to people who beg if they are able to work. She's incredibly loyal, however, especially to friends.
  • History: Victoria was more or less ordinary (if from a high-class family), until she was allowed to cut the cake at her fifth birthday with a large carving knife, as her father had been intoxicated. It was the first time she held a knife, and she didn't realize how sharp it was, much to her surprise when she swung it angrily at a boy that tried to open one of her presents. As she saw blood trickle down the blade, she had a brief vision, and that night she dreamed of dining in a forest of bodies. Her visions began to grow stronger after she was compelled to impale a hamster on a shish-kebab stick, and soon she conspired to be superior
  • Abilities: Quite intelligent, having been privately tutored. Apart from that, not particularly impressive, though she's seemingly incapable of being grossed out.
  • Artifact: Impalement - A long, dull, oiled, wooden stake. It is upon stakes like this one that Vlad impaled many thousands of people. Though not useful as a weapon, Impalement can call forth several stakes from the ground (their number gradually increasing with time), to attempt to impale people. Those impaled can remove themselves from the stake, but the stakes cause extreme pain if they pierce the flesh, making it difficult to escape.

Disc thread (cast list)

  • Name: Rupert Locksley (formerly Plowman)
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 16
  • Reincarnation Of: Robin Hood
  • Appearance: Girly looking boy, with shaggy dirty blond hair. Kind of short. He always wears a green hoodie, generally with khaki cargo pants. My work in progress sketch of Rupert.
  • Personality: Rupert does his best to be upbeat and outgoing, generally letting insults roll off him. He's mostly successful, but when he gets the chance to be alone with someone he trusts he can be downright whiny.Rupert is a bit of a rogue, not caring much for rules. He cares more about doing the right thing. As such he volunteers quite a bit. Rupert is a fan of the outdoors, and is an Eagle Scout.
  • History: Pretty standard lower-upper-middle class family background. Until his father was caught having an affair. After a drawn out divorce settlement, his father lost the house and custody, moving out of state. Both he and his mother (re)took her maiden name; Rupert now disgusted with his father's behaviour.
  • Abilities: Rupert is quite coordinated, and has a good understanding of outdoorsie stuff. He's extra-curricular activities include archery (which he's very good at), playing violin in the school orchestra and chess (more cause his friends are in it, he doesn't have the patience for it).
  • Artefact: Bow and quiver. Seem pretty ordinary, old in fact. Rupert generally leaves the bow hanging in his room 'cause he thinks it looks neat. The quiver though... seems to like hiding in his bag. The power of the quiver is that it offers an unlimited amount of arrows. If Rupert fires constantly for a few minutes, they stop being modern arrows and become more and more basic (like what the 'real' Robin Hood would've had).
    • The bow is more powerful, not that Rupert realises it yet. It improves his aim even further, enabling him to manage all kinds of Improbable Aiming Skills stuff. Also, it heightens his stealthiness (quieting footfalls, making him less "interesting" and more background), most effectively in natural environments.

  • Name: Hanashi Saotome
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 15
  • Reincarnation Of: Hua Mulan
  • Appearance: Hana has long, brown hair trailing down to his waist, and a rather thin figure with very lean and unobtrusive muscles. This led people to think he is female at first sight.
  • Personality: Hanashi is a shy boy who likes his peace and quiet. A rather withdrawn person, he only opens up to close friends and family. Others might think he's rather unfeeling due to his unexpressive face, but it's more like he's really bad at displaying what he's thinking into the outside world.
  • History: Hanashi comes from a upper class family ruled by a patriarch. Due to his appearance and personality, he has an inferiority complex towards his much more outgoing siblings. Formal and punctual, the lad is expected to represent his clan in only the finest light.
  • Abilities: Do his being rather frail looking body, Hanashi had to take martial arts at an early age at the beckoning of his family so that he would be able to fend off attackers. He now knows qigong, aikido, and jujitsu; all martial arts that make use of technique and not power, which he doesn't have in abundance. He's also rather good at the preparation of edible foodstuffs, as well as archery. Though he's not very vocal, whenever he does speak lets others hear a faintly musical speech pattern.
  • Artifact: Hanami has possession of his hair. If put into different styles, it allows him to assume different personas- or character archetypes that he wishes to be. Doing so grants him strength and will, allowing him to become a warrior unrestrained by his other self's weaknesses. In this form, he is much more improved when it comes to combat abilities as well as physical strength and speed depending on what style he decides to arrange it in.
