Or they're used to having a lot of the in-between time cut out. Strictly speaking, the pacing of the story here is slow: It basically checks in with our heroine every couple of hours and spends a lot of time detailing what happens to her during the duration. For her, things are moving very quickly, but the reader is seeing them from the outside. Rather than dwell on a few days and then flash forwards weeks, months or even years, Prequel takes you step by step through the character's journey and doesn't flinch from showing you just how hard a start it is. Incidentally, this makes it a lot more like a realist "literary" novel or, more appropriately, an RPG than a conventional graphic fantasy narrative—at least in terms of pacing.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Mmkay, finally reread this after over a year.
Pretty good, pretty good. Reminded me why I liked it.
But now I need MOAR UPDATES.
On the plus side, it looks like Katia might possibly change her life perspective for the better, and maybe even find her calling. (Oh, and maybe found a new friend?!
)
Hard to say for sure though since the ghost dude's "training" literally only just started.

So there seems to be a trend that Katia can only learn magic by getting lessons from insane people.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.There is no assistant. That was telekinesis.
Oh Kat, I am so proud of you.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Katia has friends?
I mean, I suppose she's got Quill-Weave and that Mer spectre that taught her telekinesis. Not sure beyond that.
Moon◊

I got the feeling.
I do feel for her, though. Quite a bit. But that makes me more determined to see her get to the end, not less. Because this does not seem like the kind of comic where the main character just gets endlessly screwed over; it seems like it's building toward something, watching this person grow and change by degrees. I find that very promising.
Also, I'm on the part with Dmitri's kittens and I'm making little involuntary squee noises.
