From last page: Dragon Age is quite good actually. At least Origins is, I haven't done Awakening or the other DLC yet. The script is fabulous and the voice actors are more than competent with their handling of the dialog.
Nothing I have heard of Dragon Age II makes me want to buy it though.
Hopefully Dragon Age Electric Boogaloo, or whatever they are calling it this week, is a return to form.

dead devotionJust finished The Trial. Started watching The Fall, at long last. Karen Gillian is pretty fantastic in it.
Gimme yer lunch money, dweeb.Cults Of Horror
, a short story anthology loosely themed around cults - I picked it out of a cheap bin because 1) I find short stories good on-the-train reading, and 2) look at how awesomely ridiculous that cover art is. So far it's pretty good, and not as pulpy as the packaging might suggest, though that could be disappointing if one were hoping to read a story where a blindfolded teenage satanist cracks open a magical skull and unleashes the angry ghost of William Shatner.
Reading Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mirage and Walt Simonson's first year on The Mighty Thor (in preparation for the movie being released this week.
I'm actually reading and watching a few different Magical Girl series because I've had this idea for a Reconstruction that I want to do - and one thing I'm doing with it is seeing how multi-layered I can make the characters to purposefully get the audience to ask exactly how much said by each character is a simple statement, and in others ask exactly which way each statement should be read.
The only character I don't want able to be read in several ways is the main one - her complexity will be right up front.
"Did you expect somebody else?"Just finished Magikano. The show's particular brand of unrestrained humor (falling somewhere between Rosario + Vampire and Excel Saga) was actually not as bad as I feared it might be, and the haremettes, for all their lack of depth, were surprisingly likable. On the other hand, that ending...is that really the best they could come up with? I already watched Endless Eight, dammit!
Next up is Metal Fighter Miku, which will become the oldest anime TV show I've ever watched (beating out Evangelion). I've heard it's crap, but I figured I should watch at least one pre-Eva show in my life, and it might as well be one with an art style that isn't butt-ugly (that's the main reason I otherwise avoid anime from before the mid 1990s).

Be prepared to have some good laughs at Alistair's dialog.
