I've heard many say that SS 5-zero or whatever the updated version of 5 was called was the last true Samsho game.
You mean SS Special, the one with the so called "fatalities".
The Zetsumei Ougi finishers.
The game is so special that SNK demmands for it to be the last Neo Geo game, permanently, it was never repacked for collections and apparently it never will be.
Suija's Zetsumei Ougi is fucking nasty!
Yeah, Suija's blood bath is really sadistic.
His lines goes somewhat like this:
"Revere me as your God, now kneel"
"Well then, die"
Luckily, I found Samsho V special at my local pizza place, along with every single other neo geo game.
Kusaregedo's and Basara's fatalities rival Suija's in terms of goryness though...
It wasn't hard to find SamSho V Special Cabinets after people found out that they could hack SSV into Special by replacing some files.
I'd say that Nakoruru's Zetsumei is one of the more disturbing ones, especially if it's done to Rimururu. Does anybody else wish to be turned into a Shinto (?) ritual sacrifice?
I'd say hers is kind of unsetting because Nakoruru's pacifist nature.
I want a Neo-Geo just for Sam Sho V Special.
That being said, I played a little of Sam Sho VI on the Anthology and it doesn't seem like a bad game.
Well, it brought another SNK diva to light, Iroha.
It has its good points.
Samsho 7 should be a further expansion off 6. The roster should be everyone from 6 + Shiki, Asura, Suzuhime, Angelica, Yuga, Hanma, Rinka, and Mikoto, as well.as 4 new chars. Tge game goes back to 6 buttons, and blood amd Zetsumi Ogui moves are back and even gorier. Even non sword moves have death effects, like Kyoshiro burning his foes to a skeleton and grabs ripping off heads.
It would be a risky move to bring back the Zetsumei Ougis, although they have some original aspects (like being able to be performed on chilren), comparisons to Mortal Kombat would likely to be made.
Also some are quite sadistic, in contrast to MK's level of plain sillyness some Fatalities have; SNK sure isn't up to making that much of M-Rated game, seeing as how they censored themselves with SSV Special back then.
I would be happy with a SSVII that is just a slight step up from SSVI, anything other than SEN.
And with that being said, here's some "Tuna."
People can rib on the gameplay all they want, but no one can deny that SNK were musical geniuses.
Yes X is back.
Sujia's zetsumei is my favorite. Hanzo's is my second favorite.
Personally I consider bringing Iroha a bad thing :P

In what sense? For the blatant fanservice she brought in?
Sure it may rub the wrong way for general SamSho fans, but Iroha can and will atract the same kind of KOF fans that just play it for Mai.
I'm completely fine with appealing to the fanservice-hungry crowd with just one character, it won't hurt the series.
After all, she's the only who is there blatantly for fanservice. Other female characters like Nakoruru and Charlotte, and even the slightly more fanservicey ones like Shiki, have their own merits. If putting in Iroha would garner enough interest in a future title to keep SamSho afloat, I could live with it.
The thing with Iroha is, She's pretty tongue in cheek anyway, so I'm not all that bothered by her as I am towards say, Dead or Alive as a whole.
When did Samurai Shodown ever use a six-button control scheme?
I will say this: Having to press two buttons for a stronger attack is fucking stupid.
I've never liked Neo Geo's 4 in a row button lay out. It makes the pressure you face in a fighting game unbearable.
For some reason I prefer the four-button to the more traditional six-button. But yeah, pressing two at once can be problematic. I often just get one or the other.
Yeah I hated that too.
It's annoying when I use Tam Tam's j.AB, only for it to come out as either j.A or j.B (It's slightly more difficult to tell regarding Tam, since his aerial moves have the same animation)

How to beat him?
Playing as Haohmaru (probably my problem right there).
Had a good run until I got to Wan-Fu, who was my third opponent (first was Earthquake, then Kyoshiro. Earthquake was tough, but Kyoshiro might as well have just stood there and let me beat him).
On previous runs I had gotten six opponents in.
Also noticed that it seems like Haohmaru's anti-air move is kinda picky. You have to hit the punch button at JUST the right time or you get the Cyclone Slash instead. I still slip up every once in awhile, but I'm getting it down to a science.
I think I prefer playing as Galford or Nakoruru.
I'd say exploit the fact that his AI dashes towards his sword bombs. Hardslash when he does.
Also, beware of how his AI baits your pokes.
