This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Paul Williams has two quotes:
playing on the radio
And wrapped around the music
is the sound of someone promising they'll never go.
You'll swear you've heard it before
as it slowly rambles on and on
No need in bringing 'em back
'Cause they've never really gone."
sometimes overmellow
Writing verses no one plans to do
I know I'm no Cole Porter
I'm noticeably shorter
Do I deserve to have someone like you?"
I like the first one best personally.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadNotzilla has links in the quote at the top of the page, which IIRC isn't supposed to be allowed. However, two of the links are to the actors who play the otherwise unnamed characters, so... what should be done?
I'd say remove all of them.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Sacrificial Lion has a page quote that's completly useless if you're not familiar with the source material — for all you know, the "spare" might be anything from a Sacrificial Lamb who was introduced two minutes ago to a character with a highly plot-relevant death. I don't see any great candidates on Quotes.Sacrificial Lion either, so should we just pull it?
Even to the actors who play the characters?
Why is there a colon in this thread's title? I see no reason for it to still be there.
This is Idol Tap. (My Troper Wall)Sometimes a crowner is made to select a quote for a page and its name is displayed after the colon, that's why.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I find the quote for O.O.C. Is Serious Business is too long and unwieldy, especially since there are so many examples in the Quotes folder that are much more concise. Are any of these a suitable replacement:
Hmm... I like the first two.
Anyone have any thoughts on this Scream VI suggestion?
I’m fine with it.
back lolx3 I'll go with the second, it's the most concise and gets the point across the quickest
My favorite sci fi enemies are the giant sexy depressed womenWhile the current quote for Discworld isn't bad, I feel this foreword from The Colour of Magic might be better, since it works as a general idea on what the series is about, while also demonstrating it's satirical humor.
There are no maps. You can’t map a sense of humor. Anyway, what is a fantasy map but a space beyond which there be dragons? On the Discworld we know that there be dragons everywhere. They might not all have scales and forked tongues, but they be here all right, grinning and jostling and trying to sell you souvenirs."

I'm not actually crazy about either quote, but I like yours better, since it's not stitched together from different sentences with a bunch of ellipses.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdFor quotes on a work page, from a character within an episodic work, is there a consistent preference for how we write the attribution?
So, for Drag Race España All Stars, we have:
That's season one, episode one. Which is titled "Supremme Eleganza Olé Stars Extravaganza".
So...
- —Pink Chadora, "Supremme Eleganza Olé Stars Extravaganza"—Pink Chadora (season one, episode one)—Pink Chadora, "Supremme Eleganza Olé Stars Extravaganza" (season one, episode one)
Or something else?
My understanding is that we don't need to name the work itself, as it's the default if you're already on the work page.
Another quote suggestion for Conlang:
Wil Wheaton: Did that guy just say "Revenge is a dish best served cold" in Klingon?
You know, I think I brought this up before, but Adaptational Attractiveness had its quote changed unilaterally last summer, and not for the better.
I think we may have decided on an action to take, but I got distracted and forgot if so.
SoundCloudBest suggestion I've seen so far.
Agreed, the current quote isn't an example.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdLooks like this is the previous quote:
I think it relies too much on potholes and outside context to work as a page quote on its own, though. Are there any better suggestions than the two Harry Potter ones?
Well, there's the one on the quotes page. A bit wordy, but actually does convey the trope without needing appended context.
SoundCloudI agree that it's better than the other two options, though it is—like you said—a little wordy. I could go either way on including it, honestly.
I agree with swapping in the Roger Ebert quote (unless someone can find something better). While it is wordy, it has the advantage of actually illustrating the trope.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. The quote for Laser-Guided Karma was reverted claiming there was no discussion for it. There actually was months ago. Should it be reverted to the Moon Girl quote or whatever it is now?
Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
That's pretty good.
