I like the first quote better. More emphasis on his plans and plotting.

I prefer the second a bit more personally. The second has him clearly cunning and planning while also showing his charisma and in a much shorter and snappier fashion. To me if a shorter quote can get it across much quicker, I prefer to use those. That said both are good in my opinion.

Considering this for Canon Foreigner:

"Z-Mech is taking time out from his PvZ Heroes and PvZ Garden Warfare duties to bring his unique brand of destruction to Plants vs. Zombies 2. Don't worry, though; he's cleared it with his manager."
Almanac Entry for Z-Mech, Plants Vs Zombies 2

The potholes should be fine right?

The current quote for Plot Armor seems like it'd be a better fit for Contractual Immortality. And vice versa.

  1. 11888: Of the quotes in the quotes page, I think The Simpsons one is probably the best, but this site isn't exactly lacking in pages with Simpsons quotes at the top, so it's probably worth going with something else for the sake of variety.

[up] [tup] to switching the two quotes.

[up][up] The potholes are fine. I don't get how the quote illustrates, though.

[1] (MagnificentBastard.Avatar The Last Airbender) [tup] second quote

[2] [3] (Reckless Gun Usage) I agree with switching to the kill.switch quote:

Mook 1: Hey, is your gun loaded?
Mook 2: Um, I think so, why?
Mook 1: BECAUSE YOU'RE POINTING IT RIGHT AT ME! YOU IDIOT!
Mook 2: Oh! Sorry! I'll point it in the other direction!
Mook 1: Good decision...HEY, YOU'RE STILL POINTING IT AT ME!
— A terrorist grunt being reprimanded by his sergeant in kill.switch

[4] (Creator.Alex Hirsch) I lean toward one of the first two.

[5] (Monster. The Legend Of Zelda Fan Works) My vote goes to the current quote because it is more obviously referring to the actions of an individual.

Though speaking of Fan Games, two quote ideas here. I like the first better; we'll just say "The Mysterious Bust Killer" instead of her real name (similar to Ace Attorney).

Current quote on People of Hair Color:

There is such a thing as physical dislike. Europeans know this about other Europeans.

Does it really illustrate the trope?

[up][up] I don't think it's very illustrative. I'd vote pull

I assume it's a subtle reference to the Aryan fixation on blonde hair or something, but it's wayyyy too vague and not related to the actual trope.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

In context, Orson Welles was claiming that different nationalities always have certain physical traits and that it leads to strife, so if you extend that idea onto hair, I can see why someone thought that was a relevant quote. But it is kinda a stretch use it that way, since he was offering his own theories on why certain people don't like him rather than talking about how people use hair as a shorthand for ethnicity (and the full context is honestly kinda gross.)

O.W.: No, no charm. To me, he [Spencer Tracy] was just a hateful, hateful man. I think Katie just doesn’t like me. She doesn’t like the way I look. Don’t you know there’s such a thing as physical dislike? Europeans know that about other Europeans. If I don’t like somebody’s looks, I don’t like them. See, I believe that it is not true that different races and nations are alike. I’m profoundly convinced that that’s a total lie. I think people are different. Sardinians, for example, have stubby little fingers. Bosnians have short necks.

The quote on Fan of Underdog doesn't really show anyone "fan"-ning over the underdog. Neither of the alternatives on the subpage work for me. Any other suggestions? Cut?

EC Comics has to quotes:

"You should know this about our horror books. We have no ghosts, devils, goblins, or the like. We tolerate vampires and werewolves, if they follow tradition and behave the way respectable vampires and werewolves should. We love walking corpse stories. We’ll accept the occasional zombie or mummy. And we relish the tales of sadism. Virtue doesn’t always have to triumph."
"EC Comics Horror Guidelines", from a 1950s Help Wanted ad

"We try to entertain and educate. That's all there is to it. A lot of people have the idea that we're a bunch of monsters who sit around drooling and dreaming up horror and filth. That's not true, as you can see."
Bill Gaines, really trying to walk back that Help Wanted ad, as quoted in "Depravity for Children — 10 Cents a Copy!" (The Hartford Courant, Feb. 14, 1954)

I prefer the first one.

School Bullying Is Harmless has this quote that seems more like it'd belong on Adults Are Useless than this trope. I feel like it's besides the point for a quote to complain about the trope.

"It's funny how people who simply say 'stand up for yourself' never, ever, tell you how to stand up for yourself. Even adults find it difficult to defend themselves against the onslaught of bullies, especially a serial bully."

I think we should replace it with this quote instead:

Jimmy: I said you could've fooled me, this place is full of bullies and maniacs.
Dr. Crabblesnitch: Nonsense. That's just school spirit. High jinks. Why, in my day, we felt nothing of castrating the new boys.

On Sexual Harassment and Rape Tropes:

"Now, should we treat women as independent agents, responsible for themselves? Of course. But being responsible has nothing to do with being raped. Women don't get raped because they were drinking or took drugs. Women do not get raped because they weren't careful enough. Women get raped because someone raped them."
Jessica Valenti, The Purity Myth: How America's Obsession with Virginity is Hurting Young Women

This seems more like something that'd describe Blaming the Victim, not something describing these tropes. Should I go ahead and delete it?

I've got two suggestions for the page quote of TearJerker.Hamilton

Which one do you guys prefer?

1.

If you see him in the street,
Walking by her side, talking by her side, have pity...
They are going through the unimaginable.
Angelica Schuyler Church
2.
Death doesn't discriminate
Between the sinners
And the saints
It takes and it takes and it takes

[up] The first one

[up][up][up] I see your point, but I think the quote still works, so I wouldn't want to cut it unless there was a good replacement. Any suggestions?
[up]x9: for Fan of Underdog, how about this one from The Victors Project:
"Like any sport, the Hunger Games produces immense bases from the common rabble who are dedicated to their favored district. And when it comes to 6, the last district without a Victor, 'dedicated' is a bit of an understatement. They call themselves the Sixatrons... Any criticism, any perceived slight of their tributes is met with protests, riots, vandalism, and criminal mischief."

[up] The only (flimsy) reason that it’s suitable for the page is that it mentions rape. It doesn't describe these tropes in question.

I just went and cut it since I don’t think there’s really anything good to describe these tropes.
