This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

The page quote for This Loser Is You needs changing. There is no indication that Luigi is an Audience Surrogate, which he usually isn't, and it doesn't say anything about him being portrayed in a negative light, which he usually isn't beyond being a Cowardly Lion Butt-Monkey. The most it has to do with the trope is pointing out that he has an L on his forehead thanks to his hat.
There's a lot of good ones there, though this is my personal favourite:
"In the silent movie, there's no talking."
- — Natasha Bedingfield, Silent Movie
Yeah, I agree it needs to be changed. Not sure what to replace it with- maybe the Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple one from the quotes page?

Would anyone object to me changing the page quote on Failsafe Failure to the following? The current one doesn't really work out of context.
^ I've got no objections.
Definite improvement.
The page quote for Glurge was added by frequent ban-evader Johnnyfog, is there anything from the quotes page that would work as an acceptable substitute?
I'm not fond of any of them tbh
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Would anyone mind if I changed the quote on the bottom of Film.Black Panther 2018 to some lyrics from the movie's own end credits song?
The caption on Creator.Alex Trebek has too much overlap with the page quote. I'd like to change the first line of the quote to "This Canadian-born television personality, until a few years ago, had the best mustache in game show history." Thoughts?
I think the current page quote for "Die Hard" on an X needs replacing, as it violates the rule against having potholes in the quotes:
There are only two other examples on Quotes.Die Hard On An X, so I need to know which one would make a suitable replacement
Couldn't we just keep the quote but remove the potholes?
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"I'm not sure what "until a few years ago" means.
I believe I recall the rule about "no Pot Hole in pagequotes" is suspended when a work is directly referenced. Trope pages, like Take That!, are forbidden. Probably needs to be cleaned up, but is otherwise fine, in my opinion.

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I noticed this page quote on the Your Days Are Numbered trope:
Col. Jack O'Neill: Well, that's fine. As long as it's a very big number.
Although K'tano mentions the trope name, the quote itself isn't an example of the trope: it's a typical villain threat-boast and the hero being defiantly flippant in response while surrounded by friends and allies. The scene has nothing to do with the trope's requirement for angst and the apparently no-hope situation that the person whose days are numbered is supposed to be in.
I had a look at the quotes page, but nothing jumps out at me as suitable. However, there is another example from the Stargate franchise that might be more applicable for the trope (if it's not too long):
Dr. Jennifer Keller: No, you're not.
Dr. Rodney McKay: I am! I can feel it! This is amazing!
Dr. Jeannie Matthews: Mere, we brought you here so that we could have a chance to say goodbye to each other, but you're only going to feel like this for about a day. That's just how it works.
Dr. Rodney McKay: Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa! What?!
Colonel John Sheppard: What do you remember?
Dr. Rodney McKay: I remember you not wanting me to say goodbye then. Why now, all of a sudden? Look, and why one day?! What's with that?!
Teyla Emmagan: It is a gift of the shrine and from all of us who risked great danger to bring you here. One last chance to be with those you love.
Dr. Rodney McKay: And then what? I die?!

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I just noticed that Beware the Nice Ones and Beware the Quiet Ones have the exact same page quote. Yeah, they're similar tropes, but I feel that it would still be better if one had a different page quote. What do you guys think?
That quote seems to emphasize "quiet" more than "nice", so leave it on Beware the Quiet Ones, imo
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Quote on Super Title 64 Advance is missing an attribution.
The quote on Rated M for Money has a note that was not part of the original source. That's forbidden, right?
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Agreed!
I went looking a bit on the quote page of Beware the Nice Ones but quite a few cross over all well into Beware the Quiet Ones... but I think about substituting it with this one:

Any thoughts on my previous post?
Also, I came across this problem on the Cartwright Curse page:
I've just removed the RWBY examples from this page for shoehorning. Taiyang is a minor character, the father of two of the main characters (Yang and Ruby) who are half-sisters (different mothers). His first partner abandoned him just after their daughter Yang was born (for reasons yet to be explained). His second partner (Ruby's mother) died on a dangerous mission (doing her job, basically, but there is a mystery surrounding her death) when Yang and Ruby were very small.
Neither death is about him, who he is or what enemies he may or may not have. The loss of the two women were entirely about those two women and have nothing to do with the Cartwright Curse. The quote is basically out of context.
I'm not sure what to suggest as a replacement. Looking at the Quotes page, the following might be the best option, but if anyone has any other ideas, feel free to suggest.
Liz: Why?
Dilbert: It's like when the captain on "Star Trek" falls in love and you know the woman will die in an unlikely accident.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. The quote for Born as an Adult is very long and doesn't really explain the trope. How about this one instead?
The quote on The Power of Friendship is technically a spoiler, as it's a significant echo of another character's line. I suggest the quote be changed to what Sora says in the first game:
Alternatively, we could restore the "No quotes on this one, thanks. Take quotes to the quotes tab." Which is something that Fast Eddie added to the page in 2013, presumably because there was a quote war. After Eddie's note, there have been two changes to the page quote, neither of which has an edit reason and it may be safe to say that they were unilateral changes.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyI Coulda Been a Contender! has a really long dialogue that's a bit hard to follow. I think the quote from Nixon in the examples list are a lot more succinct. Any more thoughts?
On the Live Action subpage of Title Drop, the quote taken from Doctor Who is, in my opinion, rather poor. Although it is probably the biggest example of a title drop in Doctor Who, it takes far too long to get to the point, and it mentions things that are likely going to be confusing for people who haven't seen the show. In my opinion, a much better quote from that show that would demonstrate the trope's point in a better way would be this:
Jackie: What do you mean that's "the Doctor"? Doctor Who?
It's easy to grasp, and quick to digest, and people who haven't seen Doctor Who aren't gonna be confused. Alternatively, there's this similar quote from another episode, which is even more brief and to the point:

What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
The page quote for Captain Obvious was originally added by frequent ban-evader Johnnyfog, is there anything from the quote page that would work as a substitute.
