"...Hmmm?" The maid absentmindedly picked up the manga that Kagami had dropped, and began leafing through it. "Hmmm... Hah, I wish my breasts were that size... And Hisui-chan looks so cute, ufu~"

It took her a few moments to figure out what exactly was wrong with this situation. "Um... Wait a second... Why is there a doujin about me and my sister doing, um... That kind of thing?" She glared at Kagami, placing both hands on her shoulders and staring deep into her eyes. "Are you stalking me, Hiiragi-san? I had no idea intruders were breaking into the mansion so they could do this kind of thing!"

A beat, and, in a softer, quieter voice, "...You don't happen to have any with me, Hisui and Shiki-san, riiiight?"

"And you're in-character, too!" Konata's response was quite cheerful. These really were awesome cosplayers. That Yuuka looked...

...

"... Uh..."

She was flying. The Yuuka cosplayer was flying. Did that mean that... that she really was...? No, she couldn't be, but... that was the only explanation! "That... That was Yuuka!"

Wait, did that mean...?

"Good news everybody!" Yuuka announced as she came back to the ground with a bright smile. "We're stuck in what looks like a sea of skyscrapers! So exploring on foot will be an awesome adventure~!"

Tucking her umbrella under her arm, Yuuka continued, "Well, unless you hate travelling or something, in which case, better learn to fly. Also, no sign of Yukari."

Not that she was the type who'd leave a trail. When Yukari didn't want to be found, chances were you'd have an easier time finding a needle in an infinite void completely lacking in colour, texture and sound. Which was probably where Yukari would hide.

Noticing the look on the blue-haired girl's face, Yuuka chuckled, deciding to have some fun. "What's the matter, young lady? Ah! Did my flawless impression of the Great Kazami stun you? Yes, it's amazing what mere wires can - hello, what is that?"

Yuuka took an immediate interest in the comic Kohaku held. "...How explicit!" Yuuka giggled. "My, I hope there isn't any of me lying around, dominating anyone unfortunate enough to partner up with me!"

Kagami looked at the manga in Kohaku's hands. Then at the girl herself. Then back to the manga. Kohaku. Manga. Sky. This... why... why did her dreams torment her so much? Were they trying to tell her something? It wasn't right that she kept getting in these stupid, awkward situations!

"They're Konata's manga, ask her!" Kagami snapped, going on the defensive and pointing at the midget in question, as well as reflexively glancing at the pile in her arms when Yuuka asked something. Next on the list? Something involving the green-haired woman and... she looked a lot like Konata, same hair and everything, but no hats that Konata owned had peaches on them...

Soon enough, Lawson had spotted Chun-Li about to approach a group of people.

"Here goes nothing, Lawson Blake." Lawson murmured before he kept an eye on them to see if they are mostly hostile or not.

The hum of the hyperdrive was at once comforting and irritating. Rahm Kota, general and Jedi, sat in the right hand seat of the Rogue Shadow, pondering the young man who sat beside him. He was conflicted, yes, but the important thing was that the boy did not give into his anger and strike down Vader. Now, now they had an important bargaining chip with the Empire. It would be key in the Alliance's strategy.

Soon they would drop out of lightspeed over Dantooine and -

The old general found himself rudely deposited on cold, hard ground, his face rubbing against the surface roughly. Getting unsteadily to his feet, he "looked" around uncertainly, casting his Force perceptions outward. Nothing this way... nothing that way... still nothing. Finally, he detected a cluster of lifeforms near some buildings of unknown design, but their presences in the Force were unfamiliar. At least they didn't seem hostile - that was always an advantage. Dusting himself off, Rahm felt a sense of caution.

"What have I gotten myself into?" he wondered aloud. Still, he was a Jedi, and investigation was one of their - and his - many talents. For now, though, he decided to remain where he was and continue searching for anything that felt familiar.

Yuuka immediately grabbed the comic at the top of the pile, briefly skimming it. After raising an eyebrow, Yuuka simply deposited it down the collar of her shirt. "For legal reasons, I can't have my image used without permission. Sorry." Yuuka winked at Kagami. "I hope you aren't hiding more of these~"

Her teasing done, Yuuka returned to the blue-haired girl. "Now, where was I? Oh yes, wires. I'm a dedicated cosplayer, y'see." The flower youkai said cheerfully.

"Y-you're... you're all the characters you're dressed as!" Konata exclaimed, in shock. This... this was... it had to be a dream, right? But... if it wasn't... This was the most awesome thing ever! She was really meeting these characters, for real! It wasn't a bunch of really good cosplayers, it was really them! "Awesome!"

"There is nothing proper about what you are doing, soldier, but do try to kill me properly."

For a second, Herennius the centurion stared at the old man covered in dust sticking his head out of his litter as if telling him with as much defiance as the situation called for that he was waiting for death with no hard feeling. Just as what was well expected from a Roman, nay, a great Roman of his time and perhaps forevermore. Even in death, it seemed, Marcus Tullius Cicero would not give up his wit and defiance against whosoever he saw to be threaten the Republican authority.

The centurion stood there in awe, not knowing what to do. There was that kind of hesitation as though he were a barbarian about to kill a civilized Roman whom he knew was of greater intellectual capacity than he ever could be, that in his vile act he would snuff the world of such great a mind. Being somewhat a learned and wise man - at least to the other legionaries of his century - he knew, if only ever so vaguely, of the ramification such an act might have.

The centurion took a deep breath as he drew his sword. For one, an order to a Roman is nothing short of divine mandate. As someone in the middle of the chain of command, he knew that all too well, as did his companion Popillius, whose reputation was once saved by Cicero himself in the Roman court and yet, as it happened, was with him that day to carry out the death sentence of the very man who saved him. And for the other, for all that mattered his loyalty lay with both his general and his state, and Cicero, for political reasons he was not entirely aware of, was an enemy of both.

He raised his blade above the old man's head, sixty four years of age, as he muttered a quiet, yet no less solemn farewell. The great Roman ex-consul deserved no less.

"May you find peace in the realms of Pluto, o Patres Patriae*

."

And then the unexpected happened. A bright flash of light filled the roadside where the execution was supposed to take place, blinding both the servants of the great man and the soldier sent to kill him alike, lasting for just a short while, yet keeping all who beheld it baffled and blinded for the better part of a minute. And when the light was over, as were its after effects, before all who beheld stretched the unthinkable. Marcus Tullius Cicero was no longer there at the spot where he was supposed to be, having, most probably so, yanked from this world by a divine force.

For the next moment silence filled the scene, only to be broken by the hysteric exclamations of a nameless slave, who, as all other Hellenes well known for their religiousness, quickly bowed down to the spot where the great man was and raising his head to the sky.

"It's the gods! Jupiter the Greatest and Mightiest above has blessed our master with divinity, with immortality and eternal bliss in the heavens above as befitting of his greatness!"

"Silence," Herennius snarled at the slave, as though suppressing his own uncertainty through force of words.

The fact remained, however, that there was not much he could do now. His utmost priority was to report back to his superior back at Rome. Perhaps then, the augurs of the highest esteem could attempt to make heads or tails of what was happening. Either way, for all intents and purposes, as a pragmatic military man he could vouch that Cicero was dead, and that was all there should be to it...

Except that he was not.

Having closed his eyes to the world preparing to accept his fate, the light came to Cicero with all due suddenness and unexpectedness, and when it was finally over, the ex-consul found himself sitting on the pavement of a city made of... crystals built in an odd style of architecture that was unlike anything the Roman world had ever seen. It was the kind of elegance supposedly reserved just to gods. Gods and those who, by dint of despotism and tyranny, would like to elevate themselves to a position of delusional godhood.

Standing up and dusting his toga - having been on the run lately throughout the most inhospitable of climes meant that he was not looking at his best, granted - Cicero looked around, searching for clues. If there were people - or anything intelligent enough to speak and understand rhetorics in that place, he was confident, he would still have use for his tongues.

People, he was quick to find. In the distance, a group of... teenage girls were gathering in a bunch, surrounding a few equally young teens. The oldest of them all would probably not even be old enough to qualify for quaestorship in the cursus honorum.

He would have changed his mind had he seen the old general bearing a sword of light approaching cautiously some distance behind him. But for the purpose of present, he would not see him. Yet.

Okay, that headache was now officially getting worse and it didn't help that the random American appeared offering painkillers then saying no they couldn't have any. She needed to sit down for a minute. This was just not her day. Thankful that people were ignoring people for the moment, Kagami relaxed... only to have the topmost manga slide off and land in front of Syouko. Fittingly, and in a way that suggested that some external force loved to torment Kagami, this doujin featured the girl it had landed on, as well as another girl. And bloodsucking.

Why every manga left behind had such shiny, slippery covers was a mystery.

Franz, wisely opting to stay out of the conversation, perked up at the idea that some of the people standing here were manga characters. That couldn't be right, could it? Well, some of them had more energy than a pistolero ganguro. Especially the one who had been flying, wires or not. Absently, he wandered away from the teenagers, fiddling with his guitar.

Kohaku's smile faded soon after Konata dropped into silence. Why would she...? Wait. She said she knew all about us. That we were fiction to her. And since she knows who I am, that means there's something in her world about me. So does that mean... She knows about...?

'Hmmm,' House thought to himself, 'This not being a hallucination would imply I was wrong, which is just silly. But I'll play along.' At the same time another part of his mind perked up at the idea that if this wan't a figment of his imagination then it was a bigger puzzle than he'd ever encountered before.
