Metropolis: A Crossover RPG

A figure could be seen at the top of a crystalline castle on an unpopulated planet. The figure had already turned on the device to bring people, places, and objects in the multiverse to this particular planet in this particular universe. However, the figure had to make sure everything was working properly and doing the final check of the systems. As the metropolis began to form around the castle from buildings from divergent worlds, the figure looked absolutely happy. Whatever the figure was planning to do was really starting. Soon the figure headed back into the castle, locking the entrance to the roof. In fact, all entrances to the castle had been locked and protected with a force field. Soon, the new residents of this planet will awaken to find themselves on this particular planet in this particular universe, far away from any home they had knew...

Mami Tomoe

The blonde girl blinked once and then twice. The light from the sky assaulted her delicate, golden eyes. "Mmm..." she hummed, shaking her head as she stood up to get a better look at her surroundings. "Where am I?" was the first question she asked herself. A look to her golden ring and then back up to this new, foreign area. "Hello?" she said, taking a step out into the open.

King Dedede was snoring... rubbing his fat belly with his left hand, his eye lids shut. A thought lay in the self-proclaimed ruler of Dreamland’s head.

‘Hmmm... that was a massive feast I just had. The roasts, the pies, the cakes... all lovely’

Dedede, whom had decided to take a nap after the feast, was now beginning to open his eyes and look around his bedroom, seeing red curtains, golden walls, black walls, stars in dark sky, lights arou...

Weh... WHAT?!

Dedede suddenly woken up and saw... that he was not in his bedroom!

Around was a dark sky with stars as bright and in many number... covered by smoggy clouds. There were... towers everywhere, all dark grey with yellow light windows. There was red light on a sign down on the ground... Dedede was on the roof of one of these towers. Looking down to see a road with cars driving through, Dedede looked around again. He could not see any of his Waddle Dee... his servants... who help him... but Dedede did see a very good friend; on the ground laid a wooden mallet with a star; HIS HAMMER!

Dedede ran and grabbed his hammer. Then he decided that he would go down and explore this city. So he took a deep breath and made a great leap down into the ally below

The sudden change in surroundings almost went unnoticed by the small, blue-haired girl. She was utterly engrossed in playing her handheld game. It was new, of course, Starfighter II, a bullet hell game for a handheld system, and it was hard! But fun, and Konata was good at difficult games. She spent a lot of her time playing games. She had gotten quite good at them. So far, no lives lost, and already to the fifth level!

Well, until she noticed that she was no longer sitting on her bed, and instead on the cold ground. That distracted her enough to let her ship get obliterated. This... wasn't her room. This was some weird crystal city place.

... Konata had seen places like this all the time in anime, manga, and games! It was weird being there, but...

Okay, the weirdness was a bit overwhelming.

"Eh?" she stood up, putting her handheld aside. It was almost immediately afterwords that she saw a familiar figure, a taller purple-haired girl.

"... Hey! Kagamin!"

If they were both in crystal city land, clearly the best course of action was to drag her around and look everywhere in this place, while loudly comparing it to various anime and games that Konata had seen.

Well, that and meet up with someone she knows, since it'd be safer to stick together.

"...Not every day my naps warp me to another land." Yuuka commented upon opening her eyes.

Stretching and sitting up, the green-haired woman didn't look to disturbed by her new location. Perhaps she suspected someone she knew to be capable of such a feat? Either way, Yuuka Kazami wasn't exactly in a state of panic. Elly sure would be, though.

It wasn't often she slept in her clothes, either, but it was intended to be a rather short nap, after all. Eh, at least it meant she was already dressed for whatever the hell she was going to be doing in this place.

Now to find someone to talk to/interrogate... Oh look, her trusty umbrella was right over there. Picking it up, Yuuka began to stroll, humming cheerfully as she kept a look out for others. Didn't take her long to find a girl.

"...Wonder why she'd place you here," Yuuka commented thoughtfully.

Syouko Osanai

This wasn't her home. Of that she was undoubtedly sure. No this place was so far off from home, Syouko considered the possibility of this all being a dream. After a light pinch to her arm, it was clear that this wasn't a dream either. Which only meant...

She had been dragged into supernatural events once again. Just when she thought her life was returning to it's everyday normality, this happened. Was this because of the <<sword>>? Was it her Nie no Chi? Why exactly was she brought here? And...

This... this had to be a dream, right? There was no way that you could go from a train station in Tokyo to some completely unrelated street without passing through the intervening space! She'd had dreams like this, before, after all. Most recently, that one where Konata had moved the entire house and claimed to be a fairy. Then she'd had to say th-that in order to end it all and reset everything. Well... maybe if she tried again, it would work and she could go back to... whatever it was that she had been doing before falling asleep?

"I want us to join our bodies!"

...

Nothing.

Well... this was going to be an awkward dream...

"Well, aren't you the bold type, ufu~?"

The kimono clad maid looked down upon Kagami. It seemed like she had been awake for somewhat longer than her, as she was currently holding a steaming cup of tea.

"I'm sorry, but my heart belongs to another," she giggled, before taking a sip. "But I'm sure you'll eventually learn to move on and settle down with someone less beautiful and talented than me."

Teasing would get them both nowhere, of course, but she couldn't resist an opening like that. "Ah, sorry... I'm going to guess you don't know anything about where we are either, do you? Oh well... I'm Kohaku," with this, she bowed ever so slightly. "Pleased to meet you, ufu~"

Konata was beside Kagami in a matter of moments. She'd always been able to run fairly fast, after all. She'd made it just in time to hear Kagami's sudden outburst. Well... there was just no passing that up, now was there? Not even in this strange, new situation.

"So, you finally admit it, Kagamin~?" she asked, a remarkably catlike smile coming to her lips as she looked up at Kagami.

She was vaguely aware that the girl dressed as Kohaku(because she couldn't really be Kohaku, right?) had beat her to the punch, but that was not going to sour this opportunity for her. Nope, Konata was going to take this trolling opportunity as quickly as possible, and not let go.

Syouko Osanai

Syouko noticed several others around her and took interest in their conversation. It quickly became apparent that she would have an impossibly tough time dealing with at least two of them.

Wait, did she say her name was Kohaku? She knew a Kohaku, but this obviously wasn't the one she knew, if the pink hair and height was anything to go by.

Ah well, better to get this over with. So, she walked over to the small group, "Excuse me, do either of you know what's going on?"

Mami Tomoe

The girl continued her walk through out the city. One turn after another, she progressed through this new, foreign landscape. Some buildings looked familiar while others did not. Am I alone here?, the girl thought, continuing on this wild goose chase.

"Huh?" she said to herself, seeing four new faces. Kagamin, Kohaku, Konata and Syouko. "Um.. hello?" the blonde, having no idea what to do, walked forward to meet them.

"I'm Mami Tomoe." upon getting in sight, she curtsied.

"I-I-I-I..." Kagami stuttered, going crimson and freezing up. Two girls? And neither of them were reacting badly? This made no sense! Especially not Konata, you weren't meant to proposition your closest friend out of the blue. She didn't even want to say anything like that, anyway, it was all horribly misleading. "I didn't mean to say anything like that! It was an accident; I meant to say something else and that slipped out because I'd just woken up!"

Kohaku raised an eyebrow and giggled some more. "That must've been one intense dream you were having then... Kagamin, was it? Ufu~"

She took another sip of tea, before bowing in response to Mami. "I'm Kohaku, Tomoe-san. Pleased to meet you~" She took another, final sip, and rested her cup to the side for the time being. "I have no idea where we are, or how we got here, but at least none of you seem hostile, ufu. That's always a plus."

Quite an odd gathering, and Yuuka recognised no one. Had Yukari abducted random humans as well? Their clothing suggested somewhere from outside Gensokyo, though...

"You don't look like you were sleeping to me, Kagami," Konata replied. Though this looked kind of likely to be either a dream or the weirdest place ever. If this was the dream case, well, teasing dream-Kagami would be fun too. But it didn't seem quite like a dream... "So it's pretty clear you meant to say that."

In any case, teasing Kagami was one of Konata's hobbies.

"Anyway, I'm Izumi Konata!" Konata introduced herself, turning towards the crowd of cosplayers. That's what they were, obviously. They had to be. She had her eyes almost totally shut, but was still managing to see them. Somehow.

Nuju, former Knowledge Scholar, Toa Metru of Ice, and ex-Hordika, awoke.

This was particularily odd; since becoming a Toa, he had had no need for sleep, which was why he was even more alarmed to discover that he was not on the island of Mata Nui, the enigmatic landmass that he and his five brethren had christened after they had escaped from their former home of Metru Nui. But this was not Mata Nui, or Metru Nui. It was... somewhere else. He was in a room- sparsely furnished, with fixtures that he had never seen before. The place was strange, alien, and behind his Kanohi his mind began to fill with dread. Where... where was he? A deeply-buried part of him yearned to run, to flee, to smash his way out of this alien place and fight his way back home.

No, that was behind him now. He would act like a Knowledge Scholar, even though we was no longer among their ranks. And that meant exiting the room like a Matoran, not a Rahi. Mechanical fingers tried the door and opened it. Outside were some of the most hideous creatures Nuju had ever seen.

They resembled naked, shrivelled Matoran- or perhaps Brakas monkeys would be a better fit. They wore no masks, no armor; long strings of material flowing down from their heads and over their shoulders. Their eyes were abnormally large, each enormous optical socket home to a quivering, gelatinous mass of ocular matter bridging a nonexistent nose. To say nothing of their voices- loud, shrill, grating at his ears. They were grotesque creatures, more like the animals that swam the seas around Mata Nui than any Matoran or Toa. If only Whenua were here... that bookworm would have known what to do.

And yet, they were his only way home.

"Hiiragi Kagami," the purple haired girl replied, pretending that no-one was making any more comments for the sake of her sanity. Hmm... maybe she ought to return the manga she was carrying to dream-Konata? She had no need for random yuri doujins... why had her friend even left them behind, anyway? What if some unfortunate person read them all the way through picked them up and saw the contents?

In an empty alleyway, Franz stirred. He slowly opened his eyes, groaning as he moved to sit up. He didn't remember going outside, or even lying down. It seemed like that didn't matter, though, for he had been lying down outside, which may not have been a good thing. The white-haired man rubbed his forehead, then quickly stood up, checking his pockets. It was obvious he hadn't been mugged, seeing as his wallet and phone were still there and intact. Something was amiss, however. Sunglasses were pulled down to allow him to inspect the area. He was surrounded by tall buildings, and there were bright lights everywhere. It reminded him of Tokyo. "What's going on?" He asked in a thick Italian accent as he scanned the dark skyline. He then brought his gaze to the ground, noticing something. "Hm?" His face became confused as he moved closer. What appeared to be the neck of a guitar was poking out from the shadows. Putting his sunglasses away, Franz stepped forward and leaned down, taking hold of the instrument. This particular guitar, he found out, happened to be his own red and white electric. He perked up at this, turning it over in his hands to inspect it for damages. He found none, which caused the musician to beam in delight as he shouldered the triangle-bodied instrument.

Emerging from the alley, Franz donned his sunglasses again and played a small riff*

There was a look of confusion behind those sunglasses when his declaration seemed to fall flat. Come to think of it, there didn't seem to be anybody at all in the streets. That was strange. He began walking up the empty street, glancing around corners. He began to feel wary, of course, but there had to be someone here.

Then he stopped. He could have sworn he heard voices. He followed them quickly, coming upon a group of teenagers. They looked...somehow different than he was used to, but that didn't matter. It just mattered that they were people and they were here. "Ah... Hello." He said with a small wave, a bit of a smile forming.

Syouko Osanai

Oh, they were doing introductions. Well it was only proper for her to introduce herself. It would have been rude of her to go without an introduction when they had already given her one, "I'm Osanai Syouko, nice meeting you."

When she finished with her introduction, another soon arrived on the scene. Syouko turned to the male, "Oh, hello. Do you know anything about what's going on?"

She highly doubted it. But, it would not hurt to ask.

Two figures stood in a ring inscribed in the dirt, still as statues. One was female, wearing a rather revealing orange jumpsuit with parts cut out of it. The other one was a man wearing an open chest jerkin that displayed the his toned muscles underneath. It was a contrast, the female looking calm and collected, the man looking eager. The tree in the background rustled as its leaves were blown by a breeze... and soon, a solitary autumn leaf blew off. Touching the ground, it signaled a burst of action from the male, who attempted a reckless charge at his opponent.

Sighing, the other one simply assumed a stance...

Crash!

A few seconds later, the man landed facedown in the dirt, with the weight of his opponent upon him. It was a technique that did not allow him to throw her off, try as he might with his arms pinned in such a way.

"You still lack something." The girl said, smiling down at her opponent.

"Yeah." Muffled grunts of pain came out from her immobolized friend, who knew well enough that it was no use. He had lost, yet again.

In the span of a few seconds after the finale, the man was then brought to the crystalline city. He didn't notice it though, focused as he was in training his body for the next encounter with Fulong. Said training involved tying what appeared to be small anchors to his leg and swinging it around. Sweat and hard work was the man's motto. Anything less... Well, that meant he couldn't be a true Fighter.

A Caucasian man with brown hair just woke up in some alley near a police detachment. *

.

"Where the hell am I? This isn't TR headquarters?" The brown-haired man said with an Australian accent as he assessed his surroundings.

The last thing he remembered, he was suppose to be attending a debriefing about the sighting of another dirty "nuclear" bomb somewhere in the downtown core of Melbourne.

"Come in headquarters, this is Lawson Blake. Do you copy?"

When Lawson didn't get a reply, he went to speak to the microphone attached on his tac vest.

"Christian? Shannon? Stella? Guys? Do you copy?"

Lawson frowned in anger and frustration as he walked out of the alley, checking where he was.

"One thing's for sure, I'm not in Melbourne, Victoria anymore."

"I'm afraid I don't know a thing. Sorry." Franz replied, shrugging. He then looked over the group, first noticing the rainbow of hair colors among them. He was familiar with Japanese fashion trends, but something still wasn't right. He then turned back to the black-haired young woman. "I guess all of you don't know, either?" He asked then looked down in thought, his hands resting on his guitar. This could be serious. "My name is Franz Tornado." He announced, looking back to the group. Whatever was going on here, he figured they should know each other's names, at least.
