laser weapons whatttt this is a fantasy world
(no, I wasn't planning on giving the R'lek plasma manipulation
what are you talking about?)
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsWell, it's guns as per previously established fantasy norms—flintlock rifles, mostly, or so Taco tells me.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsI'm not sure that 'norm' is the proper way to put it.
They've shown up, of course, but it's far more the exception rather the rule. And they usually happen far later in the history of whatever world they show up in and are even aren't usually widespread.
But yeah, I know they've existed, which is why I didn't make a big deal out of it when they appeared.
Busy day, so I just posted.
Question, how does terrain changes as a result of a race's actions work? I thought it would be logical for the results of Cwper's actions to be that the hex south of Prowessia to be farm so much that it might be a new terrain type. Now would there be a cost for that, or is it included in teaching the humans agriculture?
You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My TumblrIf you're spending points commanding them to do it, then natural extrapolations are o-kay.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsUh, Luthen, whenever I try changing my avatar's name to Hammurabi on the map, you always change it back to the original "perfect crystal at 0 kelvin." Uhh. Yeah.

Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsHeh, sorry. I honestly hadn't noticed. I'll fix that now.
You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My TumblrUh, you left behind the "0K crystal" bit
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsEh, I left it as a description, like Hex being an Ice Sculpture. Do you want me to get rid of it?
You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My Tumblrargh.
ARGH.
Okay. So, um, remember when I told Taco that he couldn't raise two armies in the same city? Turns out, with command avatar, you can. Fuck. I have no idea why they put down two contradictory rules, but command avatar's rule is the more specific one, so...
I am seriously considering just rewriting the rules presented, asking anybody if they have a problem with them, and then going with those, because then I can patch up the dozen vague spots that the rules here have.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsOkay. So we know that Passer's probably taking care of his grandfather ATM and is unable to post, possibly for some time. Would anybody have a problem with me waiting until this evening to post, and, if Passer becomes available after I post, then he can just insert himself into the turn order?
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsUh, sure, okay. It's actually a lot more about the uncertainty than the actual duration of the wait, seeing as when it's uncertain I don't know if you've just dropped off the face of the internet, which has happened in R Ps I've participated in before. If I know how long, even if it's just an approximate guess, you'll be absent, that's cool. I was mostly worried because you gave no indication of when you'd be available in your last post. 1-2 days wait is cool; take your time.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsOkay, so the Loess have Psammokinesis (specifically mentioned as sand magic), the Avians have Magic, and Humans have Adaptability (being the second-best in everything).
I assume that in a straight-forward situation, the Loess would beat the Avians and Humans in Sand Magic, while any other Magic would have the Loess be the worst. Likewise, the Humans would be second to the Avians in other forms of magic. But which one is second-best in Sand Magic (and what's the reason)?

...I don't think it matters?
I mean, we don't know the exact nature of Avian magic, so it might be separate from the sand-magic, thus making it such that the Avians aren't naturally inclined to psychic sand powers. Or that might not be the case.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsI was mostly just curious - I could see them having about the same skill. I was just thinking that if the Humans had the advantage (either for having their ability first or because 'Sand Magic' was specifically mentioned) while also being the second best at other types of magic, it suggests that either sand magic is more powerful than other types or that Humans are better at sand magic than other types of magic. The same would apply if both had the same skill, though.
But if we're thinking of it more as Psionics vs. Magic, rather than "Magic A" Is "Magic A", that would probably take care of the issue (basically, that they're different enough to not be easily comparable). Though I'm thinking that answers my question - Humans.
