Uh, I'm confused about that conversation scene around the desk, about halfway through the show. Was it supposed to have people moving their mouths when someone else was talking, or was my computer just screwing up? I don't think it was the second one, because it only happened during that part and every now and then lines would match with mouth flaps properly then go back to not working.
The first. I noticed some very dudelike voices on some very not dudelike people.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialSo, that's some atmosphere this show has, what with them making everything seems all creepy and stuff despite nothing freaky actually happening.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Well, it's certainly trying very hard to have a creepy atmosphere. I found it kind of funny, to be honest
Yeah, it does try a little too hard. Maybe it's better if you watch it in the dark without any pauses?

Still, I like the atmosphere the environment gave off, and them not completely outlining the premise in the first episode is always good.

We know Misaki is a ghost, of course (although nothing unambiguously supernatural happened in the first episode), but how Kouichi is involved is less clear.

Just finished watching the first episode. They did a pretty good job with the heavy, deathly atmosphere. If I'm not mistaken, this show is also produced by the studio which made Hanasaku Iroha, and it shows.
I wonder if those dolls will be relevant eventually.
MAL || vndb || BlogSounds about right. Probably his mom, because that would have more dramatic impact.

...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura ChifuyuSo, finished the first episode. Like Iroha, fantastic lighting and environments, and does a good job of establishing a gloomy, melancholy mood once we get to the first day of class. Still, the random shots of dolls in between scenes are stupid and unnecessary, and this episode relies a bit too much on "scary music" in parts where silence or a more subtle score would work better. On the whole though, looks promising.
I'll turn your neocortex into a flowerpot! Was that an expletive or a condensed review of the episode?
For those who read the manga/novel...is Kouichi Genre Savvy or not?
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over. Not actually scary, but I am somewhat interested in the story and, well, amazing art.
I remember reading the manga a while ago. Seemed to me the characteristic feature of Kouichi's classmates was acting as pointlessly sinister as possible at any given opportunity. Glad to see that aspect has been retained for the adaptation.
In all seriousness, it's definitely one of the best-looking TV anime I've ever seen. Especially in 720p. Just have to wait and see, I suppose, if the plot develops past the "Sinister Stuff Happens Around The Protagonist, People Die In What Are Allegedly Accidents, And No-One Tells Him A God Damn Thing" which I remember from the manga.

It's nice how this anime starts out with very laid back pacing. I expect there will be a big pay off when this show finally starts the action .
In all seriousness, not scary at all, semi-interesting plot and characters that don't make me want to kill them. Although refusing to talk about whatever's going on puts them close.
"Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes."To be fair the usual superstitions say that you jinx yourself with <insert creepy stuff here> when you talk about said creepy stuff e.g. talking about a ghost gets you haunted.
Consider how the haunting was implied to have started, I wouldn't be surprised if acknowledging the ghost makes it stronger.
Which I'd say is a legit reason to be tight-lipped about it.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."After getting to chapter 10...the horror loving MC doesn't seem to be Genre Savvy at all. lol
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.To be fair, Stephen King novels are usually about machines coming to life and killing people, post-apocalyptic stories, and other things that are not ghost stories of this sort.

Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.I read some of the manga, and (quite a big spoiler given the suggestions put forward so far, but it'll probably become clear after several more episodes) Misaki isn't a ghost, unless I'm totally misinterpreting this?.
Also, I can't help but think the style looks a lot like Blood C.

Page here.
Have to say, so far I'm interested. It's rather appropriate that our protagonist spent his time in the hospital reading Stephen King, because watching this show felt quite a bit like reading one of his novels.
