Okay. So this is basically a conversation for EVERYONE who would like to join in on the convo.
Basically, anyone.
Anyways...welcome!!!
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

It's been a while since I've had Coldstone, but I remember it being good.
Culver's frozen custard is definitely a winner, though.
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow. The House on the Rock stopped selling that delicious fudge they were known for since COVID happened. :(
Fortunately, the ice cream they started selling at the restaurant in the middle of the tour more than makes up for it.
Listening to The Black Parade album for the 100th time. Gahd, this album is beautiful.

But seeing as I'm not really doing much of anything really, may as well, I guess—
As long as she pays me in ice cream or sweets. :3

In the spice section, I saw sage, rosemary, and thyme right next to each other. I said aloud “Hey wait a minute, where’s the parsley? That’s the perfect setup!”
I read that song has actually been around for centuries. I like the King’s Singers version of it the best. ![]()
Which Jack Sparrow scene? :S
“Ghost elevator”? Did one of the passengers eerily say “There is room for one more”?
-hugs- Have a good night. Sweet dreams. :)
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!I was pretending to be Jack Sparrow in the third movie where he sees a small pebble and he goes "...shoo."
https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qA random thought I just had:
Survival Kids, which is a video game from 2000, got me into the idea of survival in the wilderness. Just the main character(s) and nature, with danger coming from running out of food or water, and being attacked by wild animals (or the occasional evil human, though the game didn't contain that).
Wolf Girl: Into the Wild, the first book in the Wolf Girl series and only one to have wilderness survival as its central theme, disappointed me for how quickly it downplayed the main character's need to survive after a big time skip. But looking back, I realize that wilderness survival is a very limited thing to write a story about (or create a game about for that matter).
There just isn't much that you can do with it. How long and varied can a story about finding food and water and avoiding dangerous animals be? I know Stephen King wrote his own survival story, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, which I also read (thank Survival Kids for getting me into that theme), and it definitely did everything it could with the premise, including having the protagonist drink water that makes her sick and start hallucinating.
But beyond establishing the basics of survival, the story risks getting repetitive.
I guess Wolf Girl shows that if you're going to write a survival story, you need:
- some kind of unique hook - like how the protagonist ends up as the leader of a pack of dogs, a wolf and an eagle
- something beyond survival alone - like the capture at the hands of invading soldiers in book 2, and other random adventures afterwards
Otherwise, there isn't much to work with.
