I'll probably pull the Shadowrun cliche of "you meet at [insert location here] with a man called Mr. Johnson".

Justifying why all the disparate PCs would meet and go on an adventure together is the key difficulty in starting an RPG story. The You All Meet in an Inn line is a cliche mostly because it works.

I sure said that!

Ross, remember what modern settings as a whole can do - I had one where you had all the characters meet on a train taking them somewhere nasty due to their natural skills, and their job was to either destroy the train, or destroy the camp.

They did both and then had to defend from an army coming for them.

I'll probably have them meet their employer who gives them their mission of finding this artifact and sends them to a professor who knows about this stuff.

There they will discover that they're not the only one searching for this thing by running into some thugs who are currently ransacking the professor's apartment.

From there, the trail will lead to this war zone where two megacorps are fighting a war.

Hey Cata

I'm alright, currently planning out a cyberpunk RPG.

Not bad, just trying to work out if I can run Fallout 2 in windowed mode. Proving very difficult.

@ K-Boy; What happened last night? )=

Alright.

Now, let us find other things to talk about. Is this your first playthrough of Fallout 2?

It is indeed. I've been put off by the turn based mechanics, never been a fan, but hey, lets go for it!

Let's talk about the World of Darkness.

[up][up]I've tried playing the original Fallout games before, but they just bore me. I'm not terribly fond of turn based gameplay.

[up]I still haven't read the core book. Because I'm stupid that way.

I am thinking about parallel version parodies of popular things a lot.

Such as an expy of Doctor Who that uses an advertising column instead of a police box.

That would be cool. And a lot less obvious in modern Britain, although the Tardis was never truly obvious because of the "not-so-line-of-sight" psychic field it operated.
